Chapter 66 · Volume 1

Elven Valley (15)

Under Ning Busan's sharp command, the surrounding elves dispersed.
However, they were all scratching their heads in curiosity, dying to know what would happen next.
Ning Busan could also see their reluctance to leave, and couldn't help but marvel at how incredibly talented the Elven Mother Tree was!
Wasn't this basically a serialized drama?
If the one being broadcast wasn't himself, he would actually be quite happy to sit down and watch it with them.
Ning Busan said earnestly, “Mother, there's really no need to pull these flashy stunts.”
The Elven Mother Tree sent a heart gesture and obediently agreed.
Ning Busan hadn't expected her to agree so readily, leaving his long list of persuasive arguments stuck in his throat, unable to go up or down.
With deep suspicion, he said, “You are not allowed to use memory crystals ever again!”
Under the Mother Tree's repeated assurances, Ning Busan left, still half-believing her.
He had a sneaking suspicion that he was being patronized.
But Ning Busan soon had no time to dwell on it, because Talon came to bid him farewell.
Ning Busan was very surprised. “You're leaving the Elven Valley?”
“Yes, I plan to go to the human world.”
Seeing Talon's dejected look, Ning Busan's first reaction was, “Did you fail your confession again?”
Talon nodded gloomily.
Ning Busan asked, “Are you trying to run away, is that why you want to leave the Elven Valley?”
“I'm not trying to run away,” Talon said. “Elvin went to the human world, and when he came back, he was like a completely different elf. Maybe after I visit the human world, I will change too. If that happens, maybe Lislene will finally like me.”
As he spoke, Talon suddenly sighed and asked a question that all hopeless simps loved to ask: “Why does she just not like me?”
Ning Busan's mouth twitched.
Lislene was capable, held high status, and was smart—she was a highly career-oriented elf.
She knew the truth about the plague and devoted herself to easing Salos's burdens, while Talon knew absolutely nothing, chasing after her like a complete simpleton.
This...
...was indeed hard to fall for, wasn't it?
Having been single since birth, Ning Busan was utterly powerless to help with such matters. Although he respected Talon's decision, he had zero confidence in Talon's intelligence.
The elves of the Elven Valley were like naive, clueless college students who had never experienced the harsh beatings of society; they had absolutely no idea how treacherous the outside world was.
Ning Busan said, “I support your decision to go to the human world to gain experience, but there is one thing I must warn you about.”
“The human world is a giant melting pot of corruption. For Elvin to stay there for so long and still retain his original kindness is actually a rare feat.”
“There are still more good people than bad in the human world, but you won't always meet good people. No matter what you experience, I hope you stay true to yourself and return with your youthful spirit intact!”
It was a rare moment of philosophical wisdom from Ning Busan, but Talon completely missed the point.
Talon nodded solemnly. “Rest assured, Your Majesty, I will definitely keep my original heart in mind. I will never fall in love with any woman other than Lislene!”
A giant question mark practically materialized over Ning Busan's head.
Is that what I meant by 'original heart'?!
What a hopeless kid!
...
On the other side, the Elven Mother Tree indeed hadn't lied to Ning Busan.
She was no longer using memory crystals. Instead, she had constructed a sky screen.
Ultra-high-definition, giant screen, and complete with subtitles—it was several levels higher than a memory crystal!
In a corner Ning Busan had no way of knowing about, the Mother Tree had already made an agreement with the elves to broadcast the King's childhood experiences at a fixed time.
With the Elven Mother Tree's beautifying filters, every single frame on the sky screen was beautiful enough to be used as a screensaver.
It was guaranteed to be a hit!
As Faelo's childhood experiences were unveiled, all the elves were filled with tender pity for him.
Ten thousand years ago, the Elven Clan's worship of the God of Light had reached a fanatical level.
However, as a prospective crown prince, Little Faelo's perception of the light element was extremely weak. He couldn't even cast a basic healing spell.
In the eyes of the elves, he had been abandoned by the God of Light.
No elf would actively ostracize or bully him for it, but they would look at Little Faelo with eyes full of disappointment, as if saying: You don't deserve to be a prospective crown prince at all.
Thus, Little Faelo's personality gradually became eccentric and withdrawn. Only in front of the Elven Mother Tree would he show a smile.
Seeing the exquisitely beautiful young King curled up in a ball, accompanied by sorrowful background music, the elves' hearts wrenched. They wished they could travel back in time to give him a hug.
What did the King do wrong?
How could they treat the King like this?
No wonder the King fell to darkness and became a dark fallen elf. It must have been because his childhood was too miserable!
It to be said that the Elven Mother Tree had truly mastered the essence of whitewashing a character's past.
Even if she were to broadcast the footage of Faelo slaying the previous King in his adulthood right now, the elves would automatically rationalize it, believing he had no other choice.
She was simply a genius!
Ning Busan remained completely oblivious to the events of the outside world, busy inheriting Faelo's power and memories.
As time passed, Ning Busan gradually unlocked some of Faelo's skills, such as nature magic, archery, and elven secret arts.
Furthermore, Faelo's memories contained a vast amount of knowledge and experience, including magic theories, strategies, and tactics.
The only issue was that during the process of integrating these memories, Ning Busan would occasionally experience identity confusion.
Faelo was an elf who had lived for thousands of years. Fortunately, Ning Busan could digest this card slowly. If he were to absorb it all at once, he might have developed a split personality on the spot.
However, Ning Busan was now facing a new problem.
What was his authority?
Having an authority didn't guarantee godhood, but without one, it was impossible to become a god.
Although authorities were not ranked by level, there were still vast differences between them.
A deity's power was closely intertwined with the authority they possessed.
Just like how the Book of Sages' authority was related to knowledge, and the Mother Tree's authority was life—these all aligned with their respective traits.
Yet Ning Busan had no clue which direction he should develop in the future.
Louis's trait was combat, while Faelo's trait was the power of nature.
But Louis and Faelo were merely his personas.
They were him, but he was not them.
He was Ning Busan.
What was his own unique trait?
He didn't know.
If he truly wanted to become a god in the future, his authority had to be chosen with extreme caution.
Therefore, there was no rush to solve this problem; he had to think it through carefully.
