Chapter 47 · Volume 1

Dawn Empire (47)

“One last order,” Ning Busan said calmly, clearing his throat.
“While the overall quality of the military is important, we also need a core of top-tier experts. The empire has too few Grand Swordsmen. I plan to personally train a batch of them.”
If Level 100 was the maximum level, then Ning Busan was a max-level swordsman. Meanwhile, the empire's so-called four Grand Swordsmen were probably only between Level 75 and Level 90.
Although a Grand Swordsman couldn't hold an entire city alone like Ning Busan, protecting a small territory was not a problem.
Training a Grand Swordsman was certainly not simple, but it wasn't necessarily impossible either.
At least for Ning Busan, guiding swordsmen who had hit a bottleneck and helping them make a breakthrough was no difficult task.
Ning Busan said, “Select one hundred swordsmen for me to personally instruct. Then, select a group of talented warriors. I'll discuss it with Elion, Damon, and Drake to see if they're willing to serve as instructors.”
“General Louis, I am also a swordsman,” Shuangkai raised his hand excitedly. “Does this mean I am also qualified to receive your personal guidance?”
“As the four main commanders, I will naturally focus on training you,” Ning Busan narrowed his eyes. “If you can't even become Grand Swordsmen, well...”
That trailing “well...” was filled with a threatening undertone, making the four of them shudder involuntarily.
“I have delivered my three orders. Now it's your turn to execute them,” Ning Busan said. “In one year, I want to see a transformation in the empire's military.”
The four of them replied in unison, “We guarantee the mission's completion!”
Ning Busan's eyes curved slightly. “I'm curious about one thing. What exactly does Louis mean to you all?”
Shuangkai said enthusiastically, “You are the undefeated God of War, the creator of the empire, and the guide to the dawn! But more than that, you are a spiritual symbol rooted deep in our hearts, an existence that can never be surpassed!”
Ning Busan smiled.
Not completely unsurpassable.
They said that only oneself could surpass oneself. Perhaps he would do even better than Louis.
One month later.
On the training field, dust billowed, and battle cries shook the heavens. The entire military camp felt like an awakening giant beast, bursting with vigorous vitality and sharp killing intent.
The figures of warriors and mages crossed and darted across the training grounds, cooperating with each other seamlessly.
The warriors held greatswords or long sabers, their movements as swift and fierce as tigers as they charged at the front.
The mages stood behind the warriors. As they waved their staffs, offensive magic like fireballs, ice spikes, and lightning continuously burst from their hands, accurately striking distant targets.
Meanwhile, the assassins hid in the shadows of the formations, their figures elusive like ghosts. Their movements were swift and lethal, daggers gleaming with a cold light in their hands, every strike aimed directly at the enemy's vitals.
Ning Busan stood on the high platform, overlooking the entire training field, feeling immensely gratified.
Tanks charged and fought at the front, while mages provided damage and healing. In addition, one or two assassins were slotted into every squad.
Warriors and mages fighting in coordination—this was the proper way to do it!
Ning Busan stroked his chin, falling into deep thought.
Even though it was already perfect, he still felt like something was missing from this lineup.
Finally, Ning Busan's eyes lit up.
They lacked marksmen!
If he could trick those archers from the Elven Clan into coming over as damage dealers, wouldn't it be even more perfect?
But that was just wishful thinking. The elves lived in the Elven Valley, protected by the God of Light, and had always been aloof.
How could they possibly come to the human world?
“Commander...”
Hearing a call from behind, Ning Busan turned around and raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing here?”
The newcomers were Elion, Damon, and Drake.
Elion sat down next to Ning Busan. “What? Are we not even allowed to take a break?”
Ning Busan rubbed his nose, feeling a bit embarrassed. “You've worked hard during this period.”
When he worked, he couldn't stand seeing others idle, so these three had been squeezed quite ruthlessly by him.
Elion sighed with emotion. “In just one month, the four major legions look completely different compared to before.”
“They've indeed changed a lot, but there is still a long way to go before they become a truly invincible army,” Ning Busan said. “You came to find me, so you must have something to say, right?”
Damon said, “It was actually the two of us brothers who wanted to see you.”
Ning Busan suddenly remembered that these two had been forced to work here because they had failed to assassinate him.
Thinking about it now...
Free labor was truly wonderful!
The smile on Ning Busan's face became a bit more genuine. “What do you two want with me?”
Damon said, “Thanks to your generous guidance, the two of us were able to make a breakthrough. We came today specifically to thank you.”
“If you really want to thank me, then do more work,” Ning Busan said. “Among the students I'm training, a few are already close to breaking through to Grand Swordsman. Once they grow, if you want to leave, I can let you go.”
Drake quickly said, “Commander, we have already decided to stay in the Dawn Empire.”
Ning Busan was somewhat surprised. “Are you sure?”
Damon nodded. “Yes. We used to think very highly of ourselves, but now we know there is always someone better. Perhaps by tempering ourselves in the army, we can truly change.”
Ning Busan said with a smile, “If you want to stay, I naturally welcome it.”
Damon and Drake knelt on one knee and said in unison, “We swear to follow the Commander to the death.”
Ning Busan looked at Elion. “Now that the foundation of the army has been established, even if I'm not here to oversee things, with the three of you, I can leave at ease.”
Elion asked, “Commander, where are you going?”
Ning Busan said, “I'm going into secluded cultivation to rank up.”
Damon's pupils dilated in shock. “You're already a max-level swordsman, and you still want to rank up?”
“Have you all forgotten one thing?” Ning Busan said faintly. “I am actually a mage.”
A max-level swordsman was merely his secondary profession; magic was his original path.
Having stayed at the Archmage rank for so long, it was time to move up.
