Hospital.
Ning Busan peeled an apple as he spoke, “Big Brother, Second Brother, I'm so glad you're both okay. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known how to explain it to Mom and Dad.”
Divinity and Rationality looked at each other.
A segment of memory that shouldn't have existed suddenly appeared in their minds.
Now, they really were triplets!
Divinity looked at the completely unharmed Rationality, then at his own fractured calf, his tone filled with resentment. “Why the double standard?”
Ning Busan asked blankly, “Big Brother, what are you talking about?”
Divinity huffed in frustration, “Nothing!”
Ning Busan cut the apple into small pieces, poked them with toothpicks, and placed them between the two. “Eat up~”
Anyone who saw this would think he was a caring younger brother.
But only the two lying on the hospital beds knew exactly who had caused them to end up like this.
Rationality picked up the book on the nightstand and flipped through it. Suddenly thinking of something, he asked, “What about Leo?”
Ning Busan pursed his lips, his expression filled with deep sorrow. “My boss became a vegetable. Who knows when he'll wake up.”
Divinity felt a wave of comfort.
Knowing that Leo had it even worse than him, he instantly felt a sense of balance.
“Don't worry, I'll take good care of you two during this time. Once you can be discharged, I'll take you home,” Ning Busan said softly. “I'll go buy some lunch. You two get some rest.”
After Ning Busan left, Divinity asked, “What should we do?”
Rationality flipped a page and asked in return, “What do you mean, what should we do?”
Divinity spoke at a rapid-fire pace, “He said he's taking us home! If this continues, we'll be completely under his control!”
Rationality calmly uttered an “Oh.”
Divinity said, “Think about what he did to us before. Don't you think going home with him is a terrifying prospect?”
Rationality said unhurriedly, “Remove the ‘us’ part.”
Divinity choked on his words.
Right. Why did Ning Busan only target him?
Rationality chuckled. “Ning Busan is the master of this dream. As long as you don't cross him, you can coexist peacefully.”
“Also, a friendly heads-up: Ning Busan just said he's taking us home. You'd better accept your new identity quickly, Big Brother.”
“As Divinity, you can't comprehend human emotions at all. Perhaps during this time, you should read more books and learn the communication skills between humans.”
After a moment of thought, Divinity struggled to reach for the fruit knife Ning Busan had used to peel the apple.
Rationality closed his book and asked, “What are you trying to do now?”
Divinity's face was as dark as water. “If you want to play house with him, go ahead. I'm not playing along.”
Rationality didn't expect him to be so stubborn and couldn't help but sigh.
You really are courting death.
Divinity gripped the fruit knife in his hand and raised it, intending to end his own life.
He had originally split off a wisp of his divine sense to enter Ning Busan's dream to monitor Rationality and Ning Busan, preventing them from conspiring behind his back.
But now, he didn't want to play along anymore!
“Big Brother~” Ning Busan appeared at the ward's doorway like a ghost. Staring at the hand holding the knife, he asked in an eerie voice, “What are you doing?”
Divinity's hand seemed to be controlled by something, slipping uncontrollably.
The fruit knife flew out of his hand, landing right between his legs. One more inch higher, and there would have been blood.
Divinity clenched his fists, roaring through gritted teeth, “Ning! Busan!”
“Big Brother, how could you be so careless?” Ning Busan placed the food he bought for them on the table, casually retrieved the fruit knife from the bed, and said with a frown,
“Don't do such dangerous things next time. What if it had slipped a bit more? What would you do for the rest of your life?”
Divinity's face turned from green to white. He felt as if his world were collapsing.
This was a warning not to commit suicide, or else he would take away his manhood, right?
Rationality turned a page, continuing to read in peace.
Why did you have to provoke him?
...
A week later, Ning Busan brought them home.
Mama Ning had no idea they had been in a fire. Seeing her three sons return together, she was overjoyed and decided to show off her culinary skills by cooking a table full of delicious dishes.
Mama Ning called out, “Eldest, come help!”
Divinity asked, “Why me?”
“Because those two are clumsy and can't do anything right.” Mama Ning blinked. “Dabao, are you unwilling to help Mom?”
Feeling a faint, ominous aura emanating from behind him, Divinity twitched his lips. “Of course I am!”
Ning Busan retracted his death glare.
On the other side, Ning Busi pulled Rationality, hopping around in anxiety. “Help, Second Brother! Help me look at this problem and see how to solve it. The submission deadline is almost here!”
Ning Busan asked sourly from the side, “Why don't you ask me?”
Ning Busi rolled her eyes at him. “My brilliant Second Brother is right here, so why would I ask you? Besides, how much high school stuff do you even remember?”
Rationality let out a low laugh, patiently explaining the steps to solve the problem.
With nothing to do, Ning Busan tried to bother his dad.
However, Papa Ning was in the middle of an online meeting in his room. Seeing Ning Busan, he gestured for him to get out quickly.
In a corner where nobody cared, Ning Busan silently shattered.
Wait...
He hadn't expected that after bringing these two guys back, he would suddenly become the least favored one!
Once dinner was ready, Divinity started causing trouble again.
Divinity said coldly, “You guys eat. I'm going back to my room.”
Ning Busan watched with a smile as Divinity tripped over his own feet the moment he stood up. He took a nasty fall, his head slamming against the coffee table with a dull thud.
Divinity clutched his head, his voice distorting in pain, “Ning! Busan!”
Ning Busan tucked his hands into his sleeves and said in a mock-innocent, passive-aggressive tone, “Big Brother, you tripped on flat ground yourself. Why are you shouting at me?”
Divinity was too choked with grievance to speak.
“Oh dear, how did you get such a big bruise?” Mama Ning was deeply distressed. “Sit down first, sweetie. I'll get some ice to apply to it.”
Following that, Mama Ning iced his wound while comforting him in a babying tone.
Divinity was at a loss. His body went stiff, and he could only respond with silence.
Rationality let out a soft tsk and said to Ning Busan, “Mom is going to baby him back into an embryo.”
Ning Busan tilted his head to look at Rationality.
Our mom?
This guy was playing along way too well!
Ning Busan said unhurriedly, “Dad, doesn't your company have a scientific research project about plasma simulating the early universe environment? Why don't you take Second Brother along?”
Rationality froze.
Papa Ning said, “Good idea. Second Son, haven't you always been interested in the origin of the universe? How about you come to the company with me tomorrow?”
Rationality naturally wouldn't refuse and nodded. “Sure.”
Ning Busan smiled at him. “Second Brother, the opportunity is right in front of you. Go explore the mysteries of this world to your heart's content.”
Rationality opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he only gave a soft hum of agreement.
...
However, human joys and sorrows are not shared.
Rationality quickly integrated into the Ning family, but Divinity was incredibly stubborn, remaining completely out of place and stubbornly refusing to make any changes.
As a result, he ended up getting injured by various accidents every single day.
In the end, Rationality couldn't bear to watch any longer. Carrying several books on improving emotional intelligence, he came to Divinity's room.
Rationality said, “Ning Busan has been putting up with you for a long time. Are you sure you want to keep going like this?”
“He's been putting up with me?” The veins on Divinity's hands bulged. “I've been putting up with him for a long time too!”
Rationality placed the books on the table and said calmly, “Ning Busan has already given us the relevant memories and settings. You just need to pretend to be a normal, emotional human being and get along well with the Ning family.”
Pausing, Rationality showed a look of pity. “Though, this is still very difficult for you.”
After all, divinity was emotionless.
Divinity narrowed his eyes. “If I break the dream and kill his family right in front of him, would that stimulate him to wake up?”
“You could do that. But if you fail, are you prepared to face the consequences?” Rationality's gaze swept past his lower abdomen, a subtle smile playing on his lips.
Divinity fell silent for a long time. Then, he picked up the books on the table. “Isn't it just pretending to be a normal human with emotions? How hard can that be?”
Rationality curled his lips.
Standing on the absolute opposite side of humanity, Divinity should have been detached from the mortal world, yet now he too had acquired a touch of human warmth.
Of course, he knew very well that he had also changed.
As Rationality, he was supposed to analyze problems objectively and impartially. But after spending so much time with humans, he tended to think more from a humanized perspective.
In other words, both of them were gradually being tamed.
Even if Rationality saw through Ning Busan's purpose, he could only force himself to accept this taming.
Because this was Ning Busan's dream.
