With the addition of the Zerg, the morale of the three races on the defensive line soared.
In truth, while the Elven Queen had a rough understanding of Xia Jin’s background, the treants and bearmen were completely in the dark.
According to current intelligence, the environment of the underground world was far worse than that of the surface.
Even the oxygen levels were significantly lower.
Food was scarce, and resources were severely lacking.
A long time ago, the underground world was a desolate wasteland that gave birth to creatures known as magic monsters.
Compared to ordinary species, these magic monsters possessed incredible adaptability.
Later, humans were the first to venture into the underground world.
Perhaps believing the area held rich mineral deposits, a massive war broke out between the two sides.
Ultimately, the human outsiders suffered unbearable losses. Realizing the underground world was indeed barren and desolate, they were forced to retreat.
To prevent the magic monsters from invading the surface, they established a defensive line at the entrance.
This was the precursor to the Glowing Forest underground front.
What followed was somewhat dramatic.
The rise of humanity was accompanied by wars against many races. Although they never became the true absolute overlords, they accumulated immense power and defeated many formidable enemies.
The underground world became a dumping ground where humans exiled their enemies.
Many of the races currently living here were, in fact, driven underground by humans back then.
As for why the humans eventually left and why the elven race remained, those events had been swallowed by the long flow of history. No one knew the reason anymore.
Even the elves themselves couldn't quite explain it.
“All Zerg, prepare for battle. Brain Bug No. 1, I leave the command to you.”
“By your command, Great Queen.”
The brain bug executed the order with absolute loyalty.
The swarm began to move rapidly, massing below the defensive line.
On the bearmen’s side, despite having just endured a brutal battle and suffering staggering losses, the warriors began to assemble under their patriarch's command. Their faces were etched with grim determination, showing no hesitation even as they faced a landscape mangled by gore and littered with corpses.
From Xia Jin’s perspective, however, those bear heads looked somewhat comical no matter how she viewed them.
As for the treants...
Watching them slowly move toward the lower platforms, Xia Jin began to hatch a devious plan.
“I wonder when I can get a few of their branches to take back?”
Mobile, thinking plants that could speak—it was just too strange.
The Zerg needed those genes for research.
In fact, as things developed, even the brain bug had begun to notice that the biological genes on this planet held many desirable traits.
It was necessary to seize a sample of everything.
Over ten minutes later, the main force set out.
The Zerg were far more aggressive than the other two factions, launching a full-scale assault immediately.
Over two thousand zerglings left the defensive line and instantly charged toward the enemy.
Though their formation was loose, the incredibly fast insects reached the enemy in droves long before the bearmen and treants were even ready.
The solid expansion line approached with lightning speed, leaving the distant magic monsters dazed.
“What on earth are those things?”
The black dots rapidly grew larger.
“Damn it!”
One of the magic monster chieftains, who had been part of the force that attacked the defensive line earlier—the same one who had briefly clashed with the zerglings and been showered with hydralisk venom—couldn't help but curse.
Those dangerous and bizarre creatures actually dared to attack?
Judging by their numbers, there were at least a thousand of them.
Because they were moving so fast, the chieftain didn't have much time to think.
Even though his group had many wounded and many of the magic monsters had heads scarred and pitted by corrosive venom, they still had to pick up their weapons to meet the swarm's impact.
The distance between the two sides was too short—so short that there wasn't even time to flee.
“Fight! Everyone, prepare for battle!” the magic monster patriarch roared.
Boom!
The front lines collided.
Chaos reigned as blood began to flow like a river.
A brutal melee erupted. Leveraging the momentum of their full-speed sprint, the insects instantly demolished the enemy's front row.
Instead of continuing to push through the line, they immediately locked into combat with the magic monsters at the very front.
The hydralisks in the rear were now closing in rapidly.
In an instant, countless streams of corrosive liquid arched over the zerglings' heads, splashing onto the enemies before them.
“This isn't good. Those insects have already charged in. We have to speed up!”
Seeing the zerglings' ridiculous performance, the Bearman Patriarch couldn't stand being left behind.
Refusing to be outdone, he issued the command to attack to his subordinates.
As the bearmen launched a charge from both flanks, the magic monsters were forced to split their forces to block them. Consequently, the enemies in every direction were temporarily pinned down.
The elven archers, not wanting to be overshadowed, moved out from the defensive line and began providing long-range support from several hundred meters away.
Arrows fell like streaks of falling stars.
A few among them were exceptionally powerful; a single arrow from them could cause a massive explosion upon impact.
Of course, most who hadn't reached Tier 4 could only serve as supplementary fire. It was virtually impossible for them to kill the enemies outright.
