The next day, thanks to the soldiers' hard work, the appearance of the carriage was modified.
The emblems originally belonging to the Kingdom of Clear were all removed, ensuring its appearance would not be associated with the royal family.
After crafting a fictional family crest using some looted materials, the carriage was officially ready.
“It’s a good thing we didn’t kill the horses.”
She had sent two knights to a border town of the kingdom overnight. Disguised as commoners, they purchased two carriages and four horses, then hurried back to the hive under the swarm’s escort.
After some modifications, a brand new caravan was formed.
Everyone changed into armor looted from the City of Darkness. Xia Jin used her projection, changed her hair color, and donned a human skin mask that subtly altered her features. After changing into a more ordinary lady’s dress, she set out.
The knight commander and Ellie escorted her.
“By the way, I still don’t know your real name, knight commander.”
Sitting in the carriage, Xia Jin suddenly thought of something and leaned out of the window to ask.
“Please continue to call me knight commander, Your Highness. A name is merely a designation,” he replied seriously.
“Fine then.”
Drawing the curtains, she leaned back and looked at herself in the mirror. Her hair had been dyed black by genes, and she thought she looked as beautiful as ever.
One could only say the foundation of this body was too good; no matter how she changed it, it remained incredibly attractive.
Although her clothes were relatively common, they were clearly noble attire and very exquisite.
The medium length dress was even inlaid with tiny gemstone particles.
This attire was meant to showcase the commercial strength of the entire caravan.
Generally, local lords were quite supportive of guests who traveled from afar for trade.
On one hand, there was no conflict between the parties, and on the other, they could purchase necessary supplies.
“Move out!”
The knight commander raised his hand, and the soldier acting as the driver immediately flicked the reins.
The caravan began traveling toward the south.
Along the way, the swarm detected several adventurers from the kingdom in advance. By taking detours to avoid them, the caravan left the forest area after about three hours and entered the country through a village.
After another hour of travel, the team arrived at the border city—Duoye.
This was a commercial city that specifically served adventurers, directly under the kingdom’s jurisdiction.
The local city lord’s status was equivalent to a provincial governor, making him very noble.
When the caravan entered, they underwent a simple inspection. After bribing several city guards with two silver coins, the caravan successfully entered the city.
Looking down from the window, one could see adventurers in armor walking along the roadside.
The occasional appearance of a mage was also a striking sight.
“Your Highness, regarding trade, it is best to directly seek cooperation with a merchant guild. We should go to the Red Rose Chamber of Commerce, one of the three major guilds in the country. They have a good relationship with the local city lord. If we can impress the person in charge here, we might get special treatment,” the knight commander whispered.
“Alright.”
Xia Jin nodded.
The caravan soon arrived at the entrance of the merchant guild.
“Hello, strange sir. Are you a merchant guild from out of town?” A man who looked like a steward walked up, a practiced smile on his face.
“We are from the city states to the east. We have traveled a long way to get here and brought some goods you might need.”
The knight commander walked forward with a smile.
“Oh?” The man looked at the three following carriages with surprise, then stepped aside. “Follow me inside.”
The vehicles passed through the gates and entered the interior.
“Are you the person in charge of this caravan? What goods are you selling? We need to inspect the cargo.”
The man took a ledger from nearby, recorded something, and then spoke to the knight commander with a smile.
“No, I am merely a servant. The specific transaction will be handled by our lady.”
The knight commander opened the carriage door, and a young girl hopped down.
Upon seeing her appearance, many people froze in place.
It was no wonder they reacted this way; the girl was simply too beautiful.
Her smooth black hair draped over her shoulders, and she wore a set of dark clothes. After stepping out, she bowed slightly with a smile, neither humble nor arrogant. “Hello. I am the representative of the Rhodes Chamber of Commerce from Termi.”
“He... Hello, lady. Your beauty is truly moving.”
It took the man a long time to regain his composure and offer a sincere compliment.
He considered himself well traveled, yet he still lost himself for a moment upon seeing the girl.
If one had to say, the girl before him was likely the most perfect maiden he had ever seen in his life.
Whether in temperament or appearance, she seemed like a flawless masterpiece crafted by the gods.
“I have come from a great distance. I mainly bring Kegu Fruit and Red Radish Flowers produced in the Border Forest. Since I heard these items are extremely difficult to harvest yet in high demand, our caravan brought them along.”
After speaking, Xia Jin stepped to the side and gave a light wave. Ellie then opened the doors of the two rear carriages.
Heavy crates came into view.
Two soldiers stepped forward, lifted a crate down, and opened it with a key, revealing layers of vibrant red fruit.
A look of shock flashed in the man’s eyes.
He glanced at the other crates. “Are these all filled with them?”
“Yes. One carriage of fruit, and the other of Red Radish Flowers. All perfectly preserved.”
“Phew... These goods seem incredibly valuable. Given my status, I’m afraid I cannot handle such a transaction. Please allow me to inform the chief manager.”
“Alright.”
