Chapter 299 · Volume 1

The Gathering of the Magic Beast Kings

In the sky, after the explosion, the Tier 13 Divine Messenger, who had sustained minor injuries, was hit by another wave of continuous attacks from missile bugs. As he regained his senses and prepared to leave, he realized two more long haired girls, one in white and one in black, were approaching from a distance.
They happened to strike from different angles, one far and one near.
One of them simultaneously unleashed a second Psionic Blast.
Subsequently, both bodies erupted in massive explosions.
Fireballs once again engulfed the scene.
“He shouldn't be dead yet.”
Emerging from a nydus worm, the two beautiful girl projections looked at each other.
“Something feels weird.”
After muttering that, the two girls high fived and set off.
Psionic power generated incredible thrust, propelling their bodies directly into the sky. After this wave of explosions, the Tier 13 powerhouse abandoned everything and prepared to fly away. However, before he could even cover a hundred meters, a girl intercepted him.
A third wave of Psionic Blasts, courtesy of the hardworking Swarm.
The Divine Messenger's brain was sent into complete chaos by the impact.
Psionic power itself is highly disruptive to the mind. Mixed with the terrifying explosions, his battered body finally reached its limit.
After this explosion, his body plummeted.
Of the Tier 12 powerhouses hit by the shockwaves, only four remained alive. They were the fortunate ones located on the outer edges, having taken less of the blast.
But after such an assault, looking at the devastated scene, all the Divine Messengers wore vacant expressions.
“Still not dead?”
The last of Xia Jin's projections walked over.
When the remaining Divine Messengers saw her, they instinctively took half a step back.
This pretty girl was not to be trifled with; who knew if she would just charge in and self destruct too?
The girl walked up to the Tier 13 powerhouse. Just as she was about to absorb him, she noticed the fellow actually twitch. Then, trembling, he tried to stand up.
“He really isn't dead.”
She could sense that she had likely shattered a layer of shielding on his body earlier, but the fact that he remained so powerful despite such an explosion truly shocked Xia Jin.
Ultimately, however, he collapsed.
And so, before everyone's eyes, insectoid limbs wrapped around him.
Simultaneously, hundreds of thousands of rocket bugs approached from the distance, their saturation bombardment engulfing the four remaining Divine Messengers.
After this wave of explosions, only one remained alive, battered and broken, intentionally spared by the Zerg.
The primary reason for not killing him was to extract information about the Goddess of Dawn.
Killing a Tier 13... if the opposition was an alien civilization, this would likely drive their hatred to the absolute limit.
But if she didn't kill them, these individuals alone would severely hinder the growth of the Swarm. Furthermore, she couldn't rule out the possibility of the enemy continuing to send powerhouses after her. Thus, Xia Jin chose the most direct way to respond.
Without any further hesitation, she immediately ordered the million strong Swarm on the front lines to launch a general offensive against the Dawn Empire.
To increase the speed of the assault, the bugs on this front were produced as downgraded versions, prioritizing firepower over quality. Their numbers swelled rapidly to ensure an advance on every front.
Even so, the Zerg had no intention of actually marching on the enemy capital; the goal was attrition.
There were two methods of attrition.
First, killing the enemy's active forces.
Second, forcing more of them to surrender.
The main focus remained the Border Forest.
Although they were fighting on two fronts, the presence of nydus worms allowed for very rapid troop movements between them.
For the Zerg, accumulating strength at the fastest possible speed was always the top priority.
Beyond these two fronts, the Zerg's killing speed in the Abyss wasn't slow either, though they generally stuck to attacking lone demons in remote areas rather than launching a full scale invasion.
With this kind of advancement, it didn't take long for the mythic kings in the core region of the Border Forest to sense that something was wrong.
There were too many of them.
No matter the direction, as long as it was the outer reaches of the forest, a terrifying species was attacking the magic beasts.
The core region was also divided into inner and outer parts. Some of the mythic kings in the outer parts were only at Tier 10. When they grandly arrived at the scene and saw the Swarm, ranging from Tier 9 to Tier 11, ravaging the weaker groups, their state of mind became incredibly complicated.
The quicker witted mythic kings immediately relayed this information to the rest of the group.
Thousands of mythic magic beasts urgently began a discussion.
The black subdragon lady and the companions she knew were naturally summoned by the other magic beasts as well.
When she arrived at the scene filled with mythic magic beasts and saw such a grand gathering, she couldn't help but frown.
“So many were called all at once?”
At that moment, the Magic Wolf King and the White Tiger King also ran over.
The Magic Wolf King approached with a fawning expression, saying with a chuckle, “Xiao Long, I was wrong. Will you give me another chance?”
“Now you know you were wrong? Sorry, too late. One must pay the price for a change of heart. Now, my heart belongs only to that magic beast lady. Our marriage is impossible.”
Magic Wolf King: “...”
“I told you this guy was unreliable,” the Eagle King said as he descended from the sky. “Magic Wolf King, didn't you say you liked that magic beast lady? Why are you back here chasing Xiao Long again?”
“...”
