Chapter 267 · Volume 1

A Move Using Mental Power

The hum of an engine droned as a sturdy combat vehicle appeared in sight.
Its muzzle rotated slowly along with the massive hull, quickly locking onto the Swarm positioned there.
But almost simultaneously, three shells erupted with fury, striking the vehicle head on from a kilometer away.
Boom!
The turret buckled under the first shell, and the second sent the entire top cover flying.
The exaggerated vibrations from the shells caused internal injuries to the soldiers inside, but relying on his extraordinary personal strength, the man managed to crawl out safely.
“Cough, cough... Damn it.”
Just as he muttered a curse, a hydralisk bone spine flew in from several kilometers away, skewering him in two.
Bang! Bang bang!
The cannons of several combat vehicles fired in succession.
At the same time, more fire from the Swarm struck them.
Across this three kilometer long battlefield, the total number of heavy units deployed by both sides barely exceeded a hundred.
The Empire was clearly at a disadvantage.
Their main force was retreating; those left behind to fight the Zerg were actually rearguard units.
They didn't expect to actually defeat the Zerg; they were merely stalling for time. In the eyes of most officers, as long as they stalled long enough, more of the Dawn Empire's main force would arrive to rescue them.
As more heavy cannon bugs joined the fray, dozens of heavy units from both sides entered each other's range.
Shell after shell poured into one another.
Heavy cannon bugs were incredibly agile; they were, after all, four legged creatures. They could use their hind legs to push off, propping their bodies up to reach high ground and aim their muzzles downward.
Sometimes they would sneak into hidden positions, fire, and then quickly flee before the enemy could spot them.
This advantage allowed the Zerg to easily defeat their opponents even when outnumbered.
Soon, the infantry of both sides caught up.
Some Imperial soldiers accompanied the combat vehicles, hoisting rocket launchers and aiming at the bugs.
The Swarm utilized a massive number of locusts followed by a very small number of main combat units.
Since the enemy had many long range units, Xia Jin wouldn't let her zerglings go to their deaths. Therefore, she had arranged quite a few hydralisks nearby.
A rough count showed at least dozens of them.
Sitting atop an Armored Heavy Cannon Bug, Xia Jin leisurely observed the battlefield through the bugs' vision.
She also held a pair of binoculars.
Bang!
A shell struck the bug beneath her, immediately followed by a massive jolt.
“Sss—”
She was nearly thrown off.
That last shell had clearly been a ricochet, leaving a slight dent in the right front shell of the Armored Heavy Cannon Bug.
Xia Jin was sitting on the front left side of the bug.
She immediately determined the direction the shell had come from.
It was two men crouching in a trench.
Rat tat tat...
A series of gunshots rang out from that direction, followed by a pitter patter sound all around Xia Jin.
Some bullets hit the bug, making crisp clinking noises.
She reached out and caught a bullet midair.
“It's huge.”
It was a bullet nearly 12mm in size. If this thing penetrated a body, it would basically snap it in two.
However, for her Tier 10 self, it was effortless.
The soldier who was firing froze at the sight.
That beautiful girl in the distance had actually caught a bullet they fired?
Such a shocking scene plunged many soldiers into an eerie silence.
Honestly, seeing a beautiful young girl on the battlefield was incredible enough.
Adding the fact that she could catch a bullet with her bare hands made many people think deeper.
“That silver haired one... could she be the Princess of Clear? The leader of the Zerg?”
“Probably... yes.” The soldier holding the gun stared blankly at the scene.
“Hiss—” The soldier beside him gasped. “To be able to catch a bullet at that speed, she must be a Tier 9 powerhouse. Isn't she supposed to be very young? How can she do that?”
These warriors were all stunned.
They had heard that the Princess of Clear was at most in her teens, seemingly not even an adult yet.
A Tier 9 at such a young age—the more they thought about it, the more inconceivable it became.
Xia Jin had clearly noticed these people. Focusing her mind, a terrifying wave of psionic pressure surged out instantly, sweeping over the men in front of her.
The pupils of several men dilated simultaneously.
“As expected of me.” Xia Jin looked at her hands with satisfaction.
Very strong.
Her Tier 10 strength was no longer what it used to be. That attack just now had been as simple as blowing away dust; it was far too easy.
