The new bug was labeled: Hydralisk Type II.
As for the heavy cannon bugs, they did away with model numbers and were all equipped with rocket launch tubes instead.
No matter what, they could not afford to lose in terms of firepower, so they mounted as many cannons as possible. As long as the cost remained within an acceptable range and the cost effectiveness was reasonable, Xia Jin considered it a worthwhile investment.
Xia Jin had also considered downgrading unit production to mount long range weapons, but it turned out that downgrading units like zerglings resulted in them being crushed by the enemy's overall strength, making them little different from locusts.
This was because the average strength of the Empire's people had been boosted by potions, with a vast number of them starting at Tier 6 or 7.
Downgrading units like the heavy cannon bug was even more problematic. In their downgraded state, they simply could not withstand the massive recoil of the 200mm cannons during firing. After all, the main guns of this era had to prioritize firepower to punch through the magic arrays enchanted onto the enemies' steel plating. Consequently, the actual power of each cannon was much higher than it appeared on the surface.
A 7.92mm rifle from Earth would be far from overpowered here; it would be woefully underpowered. Otherwise, everyone wouldn't be carrying anti materiel grade sniper rifles.
...
As the battle raged at sea, a large number of the Empire's magic fighters soon arrived in the sky.
The Swarm's aerial forces rose to meet them, with 1,000 mutalisks and over 30,000 banelings intercepting the enemy across the sky.
The battle between the two sides was fierce, with enemy bombers constantly breaking through the defenses to drop heavy bombs.
The people of the Dawn Empire seemed to realize that the locusts were not high priority units and ignored them, specifically targeting units at the zergling level or higher.
Units like the hydralisks were particularly susceptible to being targeted.
Xia Jin's response was swift. The moment the first plane engaged the Swarm, the entire Zerg network was alerted to the enemy's situation, and vital melee units like the ultralisks quickly burrowed underground.
The remaining units, such as the zerglings, were used specifically to draw enemy fire.
Xia Jin even produced some low tier versions of the bugs. These weren't intended for combat but were placed in prominent positions to catch the eyes of the enemy pilots, pretending to flee only to be gunned down.
Once the battle was over, these dead bugs could be recycled and remade into good bugs once more.
With the struggle for air superiority becoming exceptionally difficult, Xia Jin began actively producing a batch of the naval version of the missiles.
Because these missiles had a long range and great power, they could be utilized as anti aircraft forces.
Following her habit, she produced a batch and immediately deployed them to the battlefield.
Around 20 rocket bugs were mounted onto the launch racks.
Due to their large size, they couldn't be mounted on unicycles. Instead, they were placed on devices originally designed for the navy and aimed at the sky.
After making the necessary adjustments, several soldiers turned to glance at the silver haired girl sitting on a distant rock.
"My Queen, what do you think?"
These soldiers were genuinely excited.
It was the Queen! Their adorable Queen was sitting right there, watching them.
Indeed, this Queen was the same little Princess who had been the subject of so many young men's fantasies.
She was the goddess of many boys' childhoods.
Though they were older now, the goddess remained the same, forever enshrined in their hearts.
She wasn't the kind of beauty who relied on empty fame or makeup to look pretty; she was a true, peerless beauty.
Xia Jin watched intently and happened to spot several Dawn Empire planes approaching in the distance. She pointed toward them and said, "Mount the missiles and give it a try."
"Yes!"
"Quick, move faster! Don't let those planes get any closer!"
Just as they spoke, a menacing missile streaked toward the group of soldiers and the exceptionally conspicuous Xia Jin.
"..."
With a wave of her arm, it instantly extended hundreds of meters and swatted the ammunition out of the sky.
Boom!
A burst of fire lit up the air, and a shockwave rolled over them.
Many soldiers stared blankly as Xia Jin retracted her bizarre arms, which transformed back into her snowy white, tender little hands.
"Keep going. Why are you just standing there?" Xia Jin pointed at the equipment.
"Yes, yes!"
They had to move faster.
Two men quickly loaded the missiles and stepped aside, and then the missile bug ignited and launched.
With a thunderous whoosh, flames erupted on the ground as the missile shot through the air, hurtling into the distance.
After carving several S shaped trajectories in the sky, the missile bug directly struck two targets.
Following a pair of massive explosions, both planes crashed.
"Excellent."
It was very good; using them on land was even more stable than on water.
The soldiers stole another glance at Xia Jin. One of them whispered, "The Queen's arms just now..."
"I saw it. Why do I think she's even cuter now?"
"Huh?"
"Isn't she?" the soldier asked with wide eyes.
"Now that you mention it, she really is. Argh, it's a pity I'm not good enough for her. She's been my dream girl since I was a kid."
"Who hasn't felt that way? Just being able to talk to her like this makes me deathly happy. No, just thinking about it gets me excited. I won't be able to sleep tonight."
"I can't even look at other women anymore. She's the only one in my heart."
...
Xia Jin realized she had heard everything.
Being beautiful was such a hassle. What "dream girl"? How old was she back then for them to call her a dream girl?
Though most of those guys were probably just little brats themselves all those years ago.
