Chapter 237 · Volume 1

The Terrifying Ultralisk

“This is great. The locusts are truly excellent.”
Xia Jin sat elegantly atop the back of a primal brain bug.
The massive worm beneath her pulsed and contracted, appearing exceptionally excited.
Both were observing the battlefield.
However, Xia Jin soon paused, glancing down at the brain bug.
“What are you thinking about?”
The primal brain bug’s body stiffened, and it immediately curled into a ball.
“...”
It seemed this brain bug was a bit overexcited. Its tactical command flexibility had skyrocketed, as it meticulously controlled every single insect and even executed countless miraculous maneuvers.
Normally, it could only control 100,000 insects, but this fellow had briefly broken its limits to control 200,000.
“Don't think about anything dirty, you know. Not even about the Queen herself.”
Xia Jin tapped the insect and gave a smiling reminder.
The brain bug immediately nodded.
“Good.”
How could her own insects be into that sort of thing, right?
Though, as the Queen, her own allure was indeed unparalleled.
The girl gave a light leap and landed in front of the brain bug.
She let out a whistle, and an ultralisk sprinted past her, accompanied by dozens of zerglings.
Boom!
A building was smashed wide open by the creature’s direct impact.
The current ultralisk had already reached a height of fifteen meters.
What does fifteen meters really mean? In simple terms, it isn't that tall, and it’s a far cry from a fully grown ultralisk. However, with such a size paired with the strength of Tier 9, even being hit by 200mm armor-piercing rounds would make it extremely difficult to kill.
The difference between Tier 9 and Tier 8 is a qualitative leap in power.
The massive ultralisk began to sprint with a group of insects in tow, and Xia Jin followed behind.
As far as the eye could see, the city was in ruins. Countless locusts appeared as dense little dots, charging forward. The hydralisks slithered along, firing spines into the distance. A large tree snapped in half under the barrage of spines.
A Tier 1 drone could cut down a tree in one stroke, so that was nothing special. But these spines followed up by collapsing the wall behind it and piercing through a metal shield.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh—
Two fire roaches launched plasma fireballs.
Some human soldiers mixed into the swarm were running with looks of excitement.
Feeling the timing was right, they crouched down, loaded the rocket bugs carried by their carts, and fired them with a whoosh.
These few people had no idea that the Queen's projection was hidden among the ranks.
...
Ten minutes later, this sole Tier 9 ultralisk deployed to the battlefield finally reached the very front of the expansion line.
Hundreds of meters away, on a fortified defensive position, rows of soldiers were firing their guns continuously into the distance.
A few soldiers crouched on the ground, loading shells into mortar-like devices, which fired with a bang as soon as the shells were dropped in.
“Monster! There’s a giant monster!”
The Mia soldiers, who had never seen such a thing, stared with wide eyes.
Boom, boom, boom!
Explosions occurred constantly within the swarm. Almost every blast could send several locusts flying, but when these explosions hit the ultralisk, they only created shallow dents. They couldn't cause any significant impact on its combat effectiveness.
“Roar—”
After a piercing screech, the ultralisk began a rhythmic sprint. It soon charged onto the high ground and gave a powerful swing, directly sending a large group of people flying.
As many as six or seven people were cut in half at the waist.
Its heavy legs trampled everything in its path. Most soldiers couldn't even withstand a casual step.
“Quick, bring up the fortress vehicles!”
The commanders on the rear defense line urgently barked orders.
At that moment, a heavy metal combat vehicle slowly drove up from the rear. A massive cannon muzzle, accompanied by the creaking sound of gears, slowly rotated and finally aimed at the ultralisk.
“A tank?”
Xia Jin, who was sharing the vision, narrowed her eyes.
Bang!
Almost simultaneously, an armor-piercing round flew out, instantly striking the ultralisk’s body.
Boom!
The fire from the explosion obscured the view ahead. The massive ultralisk actually staggered back two steps.
It shook its head and glanced at the wound.
A deep hole had appeared, but... it seemed to have only barely drilled through the outer shell. It hadn't gone deep, failing to cause a fatal injury to the inner flesh.
The tense soldiers watching this scene all stared with wide eyes. They saw the ultralisk pause for less than ten seconds before initiating its charge once again.
With a crash, its legs slammed down onto the vehicle.
The ground beneath immediately caved in under the terrifying force of the impact. The vehicle's top hatch and its cannon were crushed inward.
Although it wasn't completely flattened, it was undoubtedly impossible for it to continue firing.
The dozen or so giant metal tires beneath the vehicle began to spin at high speed, pushing back against the fearsome ultralisk. In its fury, the ultralisk smashed its giant blades down, creating a massive dent directly in the weapon.
After a few successive strikes, the entire vehicle was completely scrapped.
Boom! Boom!
At that moment, several rockets hit its body.
Two strikes that were neither painful nor itchy. Although they caused some damage, the ultralisk only paused for a few moments before it began slaughtering the surrounding crowd.
With this fellow clearing the way, the following zerglings and thousands of locusts also charged up.
Xia Jin sat on the back of a zergling, looking very leisurely. She swung her legs slowly, took a cup of nutrient solution, and took a gulp.
“Tastes great.”
Wiping the corner of her mouth and pulling a long thread of liquid, she suddenly coughed a few times, telling herself not to think about anything ridiculous.
