Chapter 233 · Volume 1

The Swarm's Counterattack

“Loader!”
“Coming.”
A nearby soldier immediately scooped up two shells weighing 45 kilograms each from a crate and hurried to the unicycle.
He installed them one by one. After confirming the launch rack was stable, the legion commander blew a whistle. A scourge immediately took flight and soared into the distance.
“Do we fire directly? Or wait for the scourge to confirm the position?”
“Fire blind. The rockets will deviate even if we aim, so let's just give them a lesson first.”
“Yes, sir!”
The soldier excitedly pushed the unicycle onto a long, narrow street and aimed toward the other side—the south.
Buildings filled the distance; the enemy was some ten to twenty kilometers away.
Just as they were preparing to fire, three more massive booms echoed from different areas of the city.
“Damn it, they’re getting addicted to this,” the legion commander muttered, clearly displeased.
The Dawn Empire was powerful, and its subsidiary states possessed incredible strength, but the current Kingdom of Clear was no longer what it once was. With the Zerg here, the gaps in every field were being leveled.
“If you want to invade our territory, prepare to pay the price.”
After issuing that slightly melodramatic declaration, the soldier aimed into the distance, set the support stands, walked a safe distance away, and shouted, “Fire!”
Whoosh—
Whoosh—
He had never imagined the sound would be this deafening.
The rocket bugs, suddenly erupting with terrifying thermal flames, let out a screeching roar as they tore through the air and streaked toward the distance.
“Come on, load more!”
Since they couldn't see the situation in the distance anyway, they absolutely couldn't afford to be at a disadvantage in this firepower competition.
“Legion commander, where are the other unicycles? Let's get everyone in on this,” the adjutant called out as he ran over.
“Still in the warehouse. I only brought this one out for testing. Forget it... start using them immediately. They're simple enough to operate anyway.”
Hearing another explosion from an unknown direction, the legion commander knew the other side was playing for keeps.
A squad of warriors immediately headed for the underground warehouse, preparing to haul out the unicycles and launch tubes.
Meanwhile, the two warriors repositioned the unicycle on the street and installed two new rocket bugs.
Whoosh— whoosh—
The second volley launched just as smoothly.
“Good!” The legion commander clapped excitedly. “Fuck 'em!”
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Suddenly, over a dozen consecutive explosions erupted within the city.
This time, one shell landed only thirty meters away from the group.
Following the horrific blast, a shockwave shattered nearby glass, sending shards cutting toward everyone.
Fortunately, the legion commander released his vitality, swirling it around to deflect the debris.
“Damn it!” he cursed under his breath again.
“Check the unicycle!” The soldiers who had hit the deck immediately scrambled back up.
“It's fine, it's fine. This is the only one we can fire for now; we can't let it get broken.”
They absolutely could not lose on firepower.
Even if they weren't fully prepared, they had to fire at least a few rounds to teach the other side a lesson.
“Load the ammo.”
With a metallic clank, the rocket bugs were slotted into place once more.
Whoosh, whoosh—
Two rockets trailed long plumes of flame as they flew out.
At that moment, a scourge suddenly surged out from nearby and exploded in mid-air.
“What's it doing?”
The legion commander blinked, but he quickly realized the reason.
“Interception?”
Indeed, it had just intercepted an incoming enemy rocket.
“Nice!”
This air defense provided a great sense of security.
“They’re here, they’re here!”
Eight soldiers emerged, each pushing a unicycle.
One of the carts was loaded with dozens of shells.
“Spread out! Move fast! Don't let them take us all out in one shot!” the vice-legion commander laughed.
The soldiers began charging toward the surrounding streets. Over a dozen soldiers divided the shells among the different unicycles, preparing for installation.
Across these three streets—an area roughly 200 meters long and 50 meters wide—there were over 100 soldiers.
With a total of eight unicycle launch racks, as long as the shell supply held out, their suppression power would be formidable.
As the various vehicles were readied one after another, a continuous stream of firepower began to project toward the opposing side.
...
Boom! Boom! Boom-boom!
In Enru City, a northern border city of the Mia Kingdom.
Explosions rang out from time to time, forcing the warriors here to keep their heads down in the excavated trenches.
This was a tactic passed down from the Dawn Empire; staying low in a trench effectively reduced the chance of being hit by nearby explosions and avoided injury from shrapnel.
Even so, the intermittent explosions from unknown sources still placed considerable pressure on the soldiers.
“Those bastards really do have cannons too.”
“Return fire! Bring all the heavy artillery to the front and show those enemies what we're made of!”
“Mere foreign race!”
Bang! Bang!
Dozens of cannons in the rear began rapid reloading.
Meanwhile, rockets from the north continued to fall from time to time, causing horrific explosions across the land.
It was as if both sides had been driven to a fury, pouring shell after shell onto the opponent's soil.
The terrifying explosions could tear a Tier 7 powerhouse apart in an instant; even a Tier 8 would be instantly neutralized if a shell hit them directly or landed at their feet.
