The giant goblin elite squad, forced to withstand the acid rain by using their internal energy to resist the corrosion, soon found they could no longer hold out.
Within two minutes, a Tier 3 goblin exhausted its internal energy and let out a shrill scream.
Its companions watched as its skin dissolved at a visible rate.
Cowardice instantly replaced courage; even the Tier 4 experts among them began to think of retreating.
What was truly terrifying was that fifty zerglings had already surrounded them.
The goblins noticed that while they suffered, the zerglings took no damage from the acid, proving the insects' high resistance to corrosion.
After about twenty minutes of fighting, more than half of the goblins were dead.
Xia Jin, sitting on the back of a zergling, looked at these creatures in surprise.
“They still haven't collapsed after such casualties?”
No wonder goblins caused humans so much trouble. This level of morale was something many armies lacked.
“Surround them completely. Don't let a single one escape this time,” Xia Jin ordered the brain bug.
Receiving the command, it immediately began moving troops, subtly maneuvering 200 insects to flank the goblins' rear. By the time they thought to flee, it was already too late.
The remaining hundreds of goblins were compressed into a small circle.
The battle grew increasingly grim until, finally, some goblins couldn't take it anymore. They threw down their weapons, knelt, and begged for mercy.
“Tsk, expecting me to let you go?”
Xia Jin had little fondness for these creatures. When she was human, they were enemies; as the Zerg Queen, they were still enemies.
She didn't even care for goblin genes. Compared to the Zerg, they had no advantages. Even their reproductive rate was nothing compared to the swarm.
The legion slowly closed in for the kill.
Soon, only a few dozen of the strongest goblins remained.
At that point, Xia Jin drifted lightly to the ground and walked toward her enemies.
The new patriarch gasped at the sight of her. Recovering himself, he seemed to think of something; the desire in his heart vanished, replaced by immense terror.
“Are you a mythic king in human form?”
“Hmm?” Xia Jin frowned slightly.
“A mythic magic beast? No... impossible. Why would a being like you come to the outskirts of the forest?”
He seemed unable to accept it.
Xia Jin remained silent for a moment, searching her memory for what he meant.
Mythic magic beasts were the true kings of the magic beast race.
Their defining characteristics were Tier 10 strength or higher, command over countless magic beasts, and power that neared the stuff of legends.
Even the strongest humans in history, like the famous paladins, might not survive an encounter with a mythic magic beast.
Thus, such magic beasts were called kings!
Their status was like that of kings in the human world, or even more revered. After all, a human king might lack personal power, but a mythic magic beast was guaranteed to possess world-defying strength.
Xia Jin hadn't expected this goblin to mistake her for such a being.
Although three days of frantic expansion had brought her to Tier 4, that strength was nothing deep within the Border Forest; it was only enough to throw her weight around in the outer regions.
“I'm no mythic magic beast,” she smiled. “But I must say, I'm quite curious about you goblins.”
“No, you are a king. I don't know why you've only brought a group of low-level magic beasts, but... I, Ruta, will not be mistaken. The aura on you is far more terrifying than that of an ordinary magic beast. And such beauty... you must be the human form of the most powerful magic beast.”
With that, he actually dropped to one knee. “I welcome the great king. I was blind to mistake you for those common magic beasts. I deserve to die.”
“Hmph.”
Xia Jin could see through him. This goblin just wanted to live; he was sweating profusely for fear she would kill him.
However, these last few goblins were indeed tough nuts to crack. Forcing a confrontation wasn't cost-effective.
“Self-destruct.”
According to the brain bug's description, the projection's self-destruction was terrifying.
She waved her hand, and the insects retreated like a receding tide.
While the goblins were still trembling, she stepped forward until she was right in front of them.
One of the minor goblins swallowed hard.
“Truly shameful creatures. Are you still lusting after me even now?”
Xia Jin narrowed her eyes.
Without another word...
BOOM—
A world-shaking roar erupted.
A massive explosion occurred.
Its power approached the peak of Tier 6. The instantaneous force created a massive, scorching fireball.
When the fire and smoke cleared, only a pile of mangled corpses remained.
The insects immediately rushed forward to collect the energy.
Back at the hive, the main body watched the devastation through the eyes of a zergling and nodded in satisfaction.
“The power is indeed impressive. It's well worth the sacrifice of a projection.”
Once the swarm grew stronger and could create more powerful projections, the explosive force would only become more ridiculous.
