Chapter 218 · Volume 1

The Fall of the Orc Empire

【All Swarm units, with the exception of those in the East Continent (the Mis Kingdom region), have completed their upgrades.】
“Hmm, is it finally done?”
It had been several days now.
Watching the scourges filling the sky and the insects scuttling everywhere, Xia Jin gave a silent nod and immediately ordered a full-scale resumption of the offensive against the Orc Empire.
...
The front lines of the Orc Empire.
A massive, boundless army was marching across the land in orderly ranks.
Under the cover of night, countless torches burned brightly, stretching all the way to the horizon.
The clashing of armor produced a low tremor, and the sound of their footsteps rose in a unified roar.
Suddenly, a wave of chaotic shouting erupted from the front lines.
“Ambush! Ambush!”
The source of the cries was unclear, but countless scourges let out a collective howl as they plummeted toward the earth in waves.
Across a front stretching dozens of kilometers, pillars of fire erupted everywhere.
Countless fireballs crossed kilometers of distance, raining down upon the earth like a torrential storm.
“They’re coming! They’re coming again!”
The supreme commander of the million-strong army, the Tiger Marshal, was pacing frantically in a state of high anxiety.
Despite having an army so vast it seemed endless, they possessed no means of resistance against the monsters that could simply fly over their walls.
At that moment, pairs of crimson eyes appeared at the edge of the horizon.
Countless insects surged from the distance, the thunder of their charge echoing across dozens of miles.
The Swarm quickly overwhelmed the front lines, as a sea of zerglings swallowed ten thousand orc warriors after another.
Because the orcs were so densely concentrated, Xia Jin focused five thousand roaches and two hundred thousand zerglings for this offensive, supplemented by over two hundred Tier 9 ultralisks.
Against such a formation, the million-strong army completely collapsed after just a single night.
The Swarm pursued the fleeing survivors, advancing day and night without pause.
When the Emperor of the Orc Empire learned of the battle at the front, he found it impossible to accept.
The elite forces of the entire nation had been decimated in a single night.
The Zerg swept through their territory as if the land were uninhabited. After this battle, the vast nation was left with only a few hundred thousand secondary and tertiary forces, which either surrendered or fled in total disarray.
“Your Majesty, should we... should we surrender?”
“Surrender? Haha, you’ll have to ask them if they’ll even allow it! How am I supposed to negotiate with an enemy that doesn’t even communicate?”
The Emperor of the Orc Empire, an old, white-furred tiger-man, stood up. “Let us flee!”
The officials below looked at each other in shock.
As if in response to his words, a strange sound suddenly echoed from the distant sky.
One Tier 9 mutalisk after another appeared overhead, followed by a barrage of attacks raining down upon the capital of the empire.
There was no escape.
Then came the precision strikes from the scourges. Hiding inside buildings was useless; the insects flew through windows and doors, specifically targeting the strong for self-destructive blasts.
Two hours later, a group of mutalisks air-dropped zerglings and roaches into the city, and the capital fell shortly after.
The war against the Orc Empire was massive in scale but remarkably low in difficulty.
The strength of the Zerg had reached a level of overwhelming superiority that made this a complete mismatch against a traditional nation.
The spectacle of the million-strong army had left a deep impression on Xia Jin.
It had undoubtedly been a glorious kingdom, but unfortunately, such glory was meaningless in the face of absolute power.
After occupying the capital, the Zerg continued their journey north, gradually reaching the cold central and northern regions of the Orc Empire.
Many orcs here seemed unaware that the south had fallen; they didn't even react when the Swarm arrived.
Fortunately, the elf bugs that followed immediately took control of the local officials and established a Zerg government to issue commands.
Another day passed, and the temperature at the Swarm’s front line had dropped to minus twenty degrees.
“Why did it get so cold all of a sudden? The magic elements are sparse here, too.”
Xia Jin frowned.
“Great Queen, the entire Orc Empire is located at a relatively high latitude. The south is only warmer because of warm currents and the infiltration of fire elements from the Border Forest.”
“I see.”
It seemed this planet had only two continents. According to information gathered from various nations, both the South and North Poles were frozen oceans, completely encased in ice. Navigation was so difficult that no country was willing to use them as primary trade routes.
By conquering the Orc Empire, the Zerg had effectively taken control of the northernmost part of the world.
Another day went by, and the Zerg reached the northern coastal areas. Only the vast stretches of land extending to the east and west were still being contested, but there were very few orc settlements along the way. Instead, they encountered a race known as the penguin-people.
The resistance from the penguin-people was fierce, but their average strength was only Tier 2 or Tier 3. They were defeated by the Zerg with virtually no casualties.
By the end of that night, the Swarm encountered no more orcs. This marked the moment Xia Jin took control of the entire Orc Empire.
