Just after Xia Jin handed over the points, several men sitting in the lobby exchanged glances, clearly plotting something.
"Let's go."
Xia Jin glanced at them from the corner of her eye and walked out the door with the knight.
"I only have 5 gold coins on me, but there is no need to spend them in a place like this."
It would only be a day or two. Once she understood the strength here and ensured an effective attack, the swarm would descend.
At this moment, 500 Zerg were already lurking in the nearby forest.
If she judged this city to be less powerful than expected, she would invade.
After walking along the roadside for a while, she began to see more and more people.
Upon entering a certain territory, the men who had followed from the lobby stopped in their tracks, seemingly wary of something.
Xia Jin turned into a tavern, where several men blocked her path.
"New here, little girl?"
The leader whistled at her, a smile plastered on his face.
"Silver white hair... that is quite rare. Why would someone like you come to a place like this? Since you have entered Kewe's territory, pay up 2 gold coins. Not even a beauty gets an exception."
"2 gold coins?"
Xia Jin glanced at the people inside, knowing their real objective was not money, but her.
This was a perfect opportunity to test these guys' strength.
"I just arrived. I do not have that much money," Xia Jin said, shrugging with unusual ease.
"I have to admit, you have guts. A few more bodies turn up on these streets every day. Many of these brutes haven't touched a woman in years. If you want to live well, you should join my crew. With me and Kewe, we can ensure you live comfortably."
After speaking, he waved his hand. A man beside him swung an axe without hesitation, aiming for the knight commander's head.
"Useless sidekicks can just die."
A dim streak of light flashed as the man grinned, attempting a killing blow.
Sshing—
The knight commander drew his sword in an instant.
He was an Imperial Guard warrior, after all. Even if he was of the sort destined for retirement, his training was no joke.
A flash of red light erupted, instantly overwhelming the man and cleaving his head clean off.
"Seeking death!"
His gaze was icy.
Thud!
A head rolled across the floor.
The expression of the man in front of Xia Jin shifted slightly.
He had intended to kill the sidekick to show this newcomer the horrors of the City of Darkness, then use that fear to force her into submission.
After all, he had never seen a beauty of this caliber in his life.
But he had not expected his Tier 2 confidant to be killed in a single strike.
"A Tier 3 warrior? I see... no wonder you dared to come here."
He gave a chilling smile, killing intent surging in his eyes.
"Lu Xi, help me deal with this armored guy. Anyone who dares to raise a hand in my territory must die."
As he spoke, two men released Tier 3 auras and approached from a distance.
The leader looked at Xia Jin with a smile, lowering his voice. "Sweetheart, you see? In a place like this, killing is as easy as playing a game. Just like your Tier 3 subordinate—but I am stronger. Only I can protect you. Why not become mine starting today?"
He actually reached out, intending to tilt Xia Jin's chin up.
"You... really are seeking death."
Facing this, Xia Jin sighed softly.
In the next moment, a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the tavern.
Accompanied by a spray of blood, the man's arm was shredded by wind blades.
Ice needles over thirty centimeters long formed around her, blasting toward everyone in front of her like a storm.
Over a dozen men collapsed instantly. The man who had tried to touch her felt the air ripped from his lungs; he clutched his throat, screaming in agony.
Xia Jin raised a hand, her grip tightening in mid air as if seizing his throat.
Gravity magic activated, crushing his arteries. He slumped to the ground, his life force extinguished.
Even the two Tier 3 attackers were killed in an instant.
Silence fell over the room.
"A... a mage," someone in the distance stammered.
And not just any mage—this strength definitely exceeded Tier 3.
Outside the tavern, a large group of subordinates attracted by the noise had intended to provide backup. Now, they stood frozen in shock, staring at the scene inside.
Xia Jin walked a few steps further in, scanning the room. She found that the strongest person remaining was only Tier 2.
She gestured to the knight commander, who immediately stepped forward and dragged the Tier 2 man before her.
"I am going to ask you a few questions. Answer truthfully. If you lie, you die."
"Yes, yes!"
The man nodded frantically.
Though he was facing a beautiful girl the likes of which he had never seen, he was in no mood to admire her beauty with his life on the line.
"Who is Kewe? How many strong people are in this city, what are their numbers, and who leads them?"
