This zergling received orders from the brain bug about a second later.
The presence before it was dangerous and not to be provoked.
There was no human aura coming from the individual, meaning it was likely a magic beast.
This was troublesome.
A magic beast that looked so much like a human—could it be one of those mythic-level magic beast kings from the depths of the forest?
Their starting strength would be at least Tier 10.
Unbelievable.
This time, Xia Jin really just turned tail and ran.
If a monster like that went berserk, she would be finished.
The zergling didn't show fear or lack thereof; instead, under the brain bug's instructions, it displayed a touch of dopiness that stood in stark contrast to its hideous appearance.
As if it had been dazed for a long time, it suddenly had an epiphany and pointed behind itself.
“Oh, are you saying your leader is in that direction?”
In reality, the direction the brain bug pointed was different from the way Xia Jin was fleeing, and it wouldn't lead to the hive either.
The other party seemed to believe it.
This was because the mythic king had previously exerted a faint trace of pressure; though subtle, it was enough to make magic beasts obey his commands subconsciously.
Soon, the humanoid magic beast headed in that direction.
Xia Jin actually hadn't left many insects in this vicinity.
There was at most one squad per square kilometer, and most areas had none at all.
In occupied territory like this, there was no need to concentrate too many forces. Of course, this was also to avoid alerting the kings in the deeper regions and sparking an unnecessary war.
The humanoid magic beast man soon emerged from a grove and saw Xia Jin sitting alone by a pool, playing with the water.
Seeing the white-clad girl's back with his own eyes, the king froze.
Meanwhile, the Queen (or rather, her projection) who had her back to him felt a chill run down her spine.
You could say she was observing the guy through the vision of the surrounding insects.
“Hey, hey, you're not seriously dazed, are you? This guy is a magic beast, and he's only looking at my back,” she muttered inwardly.
She grumbled to herself.
After a long while, the humanoid magic beast “man” began to approach step by step.
His expression was somewhat dazed.
“A human? No... also a magic beast, but she doesn't seem to be Tier 10. Did she take human form early through some special method?”
With those thoughts, the king eventually arrived at the girl's side.
Her slender, delicate calves were in the stream, the clear water rippling past her toes with a crisp sound.
Her arms supported her on either side; hearing the noise, she reflexively looked up, her gaze filled with a hint of curiosity.
The mythic king was stunned.
He never imagined he would encounter a girl whose human form was so perfect in a place like this.
In appearance, she was more beautiful than any human.
But...
Upon closer inspection, there was indeed an aura that didn't quite belong to a magic beast.
After the kings take human form, they use this aura to judge if the other party is a pure human. And clearly, the girl was not.
An indescribable attraction stirred the king's heart.
He didn't speak, but instead instinctively glanced at the zergling nearby.
“Could her true form be this thing?”
Strength: Tier 5.
She was indeed stronger than them.
That meant she was an outstanding individual of this species, having found a way to take human form at Tier 5. Or perhaps she had accidentally encountered the magic core of some mythic king and, under its influence, attained a human appearance prematurely.
“Respected magic beast lady, your beauty is truly unforgettable.”
The mythic king sat down beside her with an air of easy familiarity. He didn't touch the water since he was wearing shoes, but seeing the girl in white silks, with her legs extending from beneath her snowy white dress into the water, his heart truly fluttered.
Stared at so intently, Xia Jin fell into a long silence, unsure of what to say.
She was a bit panicked.
“Tier 10 versus Tier 5... in other words, if he really tries something, I have no way to resist.”
“Will I have to self-destruct then?”
“Sigh, if this were a female king, I wouldn't have to worry about this sort of thing at all.”
While she was thinking this, the humanoid magic beast before her smiled and asked, “Are these your kin?”
“Yes, sir.” Xia Jin nodded gently.
“What a lovely voice,” the mythic king thought, taken aback.
Xia Jin: “...”
“Wait, you praising me like that to my face makes me speechless.”
“Sir, you come from deeper within the forest.”
“Yes, I sensed changes in this area and wanted to investigate. I didn't expect to meet you, miss.”
This mythic king had indeed felt that something was off here.
Some outer-fringe tribe was expanding too quickly; even beings of their level would feel uneasy.
After all, many years ago, there had been cases of low-tier magic beasts growing stronger and eventually fighting for a spot in the core region.
His original plan was to come and give them a good warning.
If they were overstepping, he might even give them a beating.
But now...
Looking at the girl's fragile appearance, he couldn't bring himself to do it; he was even a little smitten.
If she could grow stronger and join the core region, it wouldn't be out of the question.
Only... this little cutie was only Tier 5.
Tier 5 was too weak.
“Damn, how can she be so beautiful?”
“She's just a little small.”
