Bang!
The northwestern front was the first to collide.
The zergling legion, averaging Tier 4, slammed into the Kingdom's heavy shield warriors.
These enemies were well-equipped, clad in thick armor. More surprisingly, while Tier 3 and Tier 4 warriors were numerous, they only made up sixty to seventy percent of the force, with Tier 3 being a small minority. The rest were Tier 5 and above, with quite a few Tier 6 experts mixed in.
In terms of raw strength, they surpassed the zerglings.
More troublesome was that this group quickly received buffs from the mages.
The moment the lines met, Xia Jin sensed the deaths of countless zerglings through her mind.
These frontline units truly seemed to have become cannon fodder, slaughtered by the experts in the enemy ranks.
“Without magic buffs, a Tier 4 human soldier is much weaker than a current zergling. But with magic, they seem to fight on equal terms.”
Actually, humans with magic were more powerful than zerglings of the same tier, but... humans lacked the vitality and willpower of the Swarm. Thus, in practice, the losses on both sides were roughly equal.
The real source of the casualties was those Tier 5 and above experts.
Of course, this advantage only lasted for a few brief seconds.
That was until the terrifying roaches followed the zerglings' charge and slammed violently into the enemy lines.
Pfft—
Acidic corrosive liquid erupted from their mouths like massive fountains.
Under high pressure, the liquid swept out like a wave, instantly covering a distance of over a hundred meters and drenching large groups of human soldiers.
“Aaaah—”
Amidst the screams, groups of Tier 3 human warriors dissolved instantly. Tier 4 experts were visibly corroded, eventually turning into puddles of liquid.
By comparison, Tier 5 experts fared much better, but... the effect of the acid didn't weaken. Even with their vitality shielding them, many could only hold out for ten seconds at most before dying.
The only ones who could truly endure were those at Tier 6.
Unfortunately, a roach wouldn't just spray once, and their melee strength was no weaker than an average Tier 6 expert.
The only reason the experts in this human main force lasted so long was the magical protection.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A roach crushed the bodies of numerous soldiers, waving the two blades on its body to attack enemies along its path.
After the wave of acid, most soldiers were left with virtually no ability to resist the sudden assault.
Until a Tier 6 expert roared, raising the longsword in his hand.
Clang—
The two collided.
Amidst a shimmer of light, the massive roach was actually pushed back two meters by the violent rebound force, even knocking aside the zerglings following behind it.
It shook its body and glanced at its blades; they were covered in dense cracks, nearly shattered.
The human warrior on the other side wasn't doing well either.
Despite the double buff of enhancement magic and his own vitality, his arm had suffered a severe impact. The flesh was bruised, and the pain was so intense he nearly lost all feeling.
“Hiss~~ How terrifying.”
These Zerg were like incarnations of the devil. Their appearance was horrifying, and their strength made it difficult even for someone like him, who had worked so hard to reach Tier 6, to cope.
His arm was still throbbing with intense pain and hadn't recovered when the roach before him charged again.
Its blades slashed down violently.
The expert exerted his full strength, quickly dodging to the side.
The acid was still eating away at his external defenses, but it hadn't broken through yet. Thus, his combat effectiveness remained largely unaffected.
Forcing himself to the side, he swung his sword toward the roach's flank.
Clang—
An unimaginable sensation followed, like a club striking solid steel.
His arm vibrated with a loud hum.
A deep indentation appeared on the chitinous shell.
“It didn't break the defense?”
The warrior's pupils shrank. Suddenly, a wave of pain surged through him as the enraged roach sent him flying with a headbutt.
After rolling twice on the ground, before he could even stand up, a zergling's blade descended from the sky.
He slammed the ground, springing up and barely dodging the blade.
A massive maw snapped at him. He retaliated with a sword strike, slicing the zergling in half.
Blood sprayed.
Intense pain radiated from his nearly useless arm.
He stood up tremblingly, only to find the roach that had targeted him was back.
“Aaaah—”
With a roar, his vitality erupted as he unleashed a combat technique that was almost suicidal.
“Fire Dragon Slash!”
In reality, it wasn't magic, and it couldn't actually release a fire dragon. Instead, he drained most of his body's vitality, condensing it into a long, blood-red blade in mid-air that hacked down fiercely at the roach.
The terrifying destructive power actually blasted through the monster's skin.
The giant blade carved downward, eventually getting stuck halfway and dissipating into the air.
The roach, spraying blood, lunged forward and decapitated the Tier 6 expert with a single strike.
Then, as if unaffected, it dragged its heavily injured body and charged toward others nearby.
...
Scenes of this brutal battle appeared in countless corners.
The terrifying roaches were like tanks crashing into the crowd, advancing with unstoppable force.
“What kind of ridiculous monster is this?”
Legion Commander Mir frowned.
The number of roaches in this wave wasn't actually that large, but even seven or eight of these things mixed into a large army was enough to be terrifying.
Normally, a single roach could easily defeat two Tier 6 experts.
Of course, that didn't account for those who mastered ultimate moves or final death strikes.
It might seem like the humans were making a profit by killing a roach.
But considering the costs for both sides, this was a massive victory for Xia Jin.
