Zuo Lin'an was deeply shocked by the state of this world.
He had originally thought this was just a supernatural world, perhaps even playing the role of the villain.
But he never expected that it was actually teetering on the brink of extinction.
The incompleteness of the world's source energy had caused major issues with its overall operation.
This was absolutely critical...
Was this also why there was such an urgent shortage of dungeon bosses recently, and why the entry requirements had been lowered so drastically?
An Wen continued, “So you don't need to feel any guilt about invading and assimilating other worlds. This is simply a matter of survival and stance. There is no right or wrong, good or evil.”
He stopped there, offering no further explanation.
Although his words were somewhat vague, the underlying message was clear: if they didn't want to perish along with this world, they couldn't afford to have any misplaced sympathy.
But Zuo Lin'an was no fool. What An Wen said was undoubtedly true, but there were definitely many details left unsaid.
For instance, while invading other worlds was tied to dungeons, how exactly did one completely assimilate another world?
Furthermore, what would happen to the other world once a massive amount of its energy was drained?
Would it collapse and vanish entirely, or would it turn into something else?
And how much longer could the supernatural world's current energy sustain itself?
Most importantly of all, how much energy was actually required to fully repair their world?
These were all critical questions.
But looking at Instructor An, he clearly had no intention of elaborating.
Or perhaps, they simply weren't qualified to know more yet.
An Wen tapped the blackboard with his chalk.
“Alright, let's continue.”
“If you want to become a dungeon boss, you must first understand the basic nature of dungeons.”
“Supernatural dungeons are categorized by difficulty, ranging from One-Star to Five-Star. One-Star is the easiest, while Five-Star is the most difficult.”
“Furthermore, supernatural dungeons are split into two types: Daily Dungeons and Regional Dungeons.”
“If the world we are invading is divided by nations,”
“then a Regional Dungeon could be considered a National War Dungeon. If that world is divided by tribes, families, or races, then it would be a Tribal Dungeon or a Clan Dungeon.”
“Daily Dungeons can be opened once every seven days, spanning from One-Star to Five-Star difficulty. Regional Dungeons, however, only open once every six months, with difficulties ranging from Three-Star to Five-Star.”
“Each run of a Daily Dungeon usually accommodates only a small number of players, ranging from a handful to a dozen or so.”
“For Regional Dungeons, the player count is much larger. At minimum, there will be hundreds of players, and at most, there could be hundreds of thousands, or even millions.”
“Because of this, Regional Dungeons do not have One-Star or Two-Star difficulties; those are simply too easy to be practical.”
“Of course, if you do manage to become a dungeon boss, you will definitely start from the lowest tier—a One-Star Daily Dungeon.”
An Wen continued.
“A dungeon's difficulty rating is directly related to the number of specters within it, as well as the number of rules they possess.”
“A One-Star difficulty dungeon contains one and only one specter, which has only one rule. Every specter possesses at least one Death Rule.”
“Therefore, the specter in a One-Star difficulty dungeon has exactly one Death Rule.”
“As for a Two-Star difficulty dungeon, it will contain one to two specters, each possessing two rules. Again, each specter will have at least one Death Rule.”
“And so on.”
“Of course, this structure only applies to Daily Dungeons. Regional Dungeons are massive, large-scale dungeons, so they are often structured on a case-by-case basis.”
“Even so, the number of rules a specter possesses will never exceed the difficulty rating of the dungeon itself.”
Zuo Lin'an understood the general concept now.
If a Regional Dungeon's difficulty was Three-Star, the number of specters inside might vary, but the rules those specters wielded would not exceed three—or rather, they would be capped at three.
“Next, let's talk about how dungeons are formed,” An Wen said.
“The first type is a dungeon formed around a naturally manifested specter.”
“These types of dungeons are highly unpredictable.”
“When a specter will manifest, how it will manifest, and how many rules it will have are impossible to predict in advance. They can only be locked down on the spot the moment they are discovered.”
“Once quarantined, the area is officially designated as a dungeon, and players can be funneled inside. As long as it is managed properly, it can be reused indefinitely. After all, specters cannot be truly killed.”
“As for the second type...”
