Xu Youyou thought for a moment and decided to head out to take a look. Just as he reached the doorway, he saw the two men hurrying back with over a dozen others in tow.
Xu Youyou did a quick head count.
Exactly seventeen, no more, no less.
They looked extremely anxious, not even pausing to greet Xu Youyou as they rushed past him.
Xu Youyou was in no rush.
Now that everyone was inside, it wouldn't matter even if they eventually realized something was off with Wang Hu's corpse.
As the last person brushed past him, he smoothly slipped in right behind them.
While the crowd in front rushed toward Wang Hu's room, he struck like lightning, knocking out the person directly ahead of him and casually tossing them behind the sofa.
He then repeated the trick, knocking out another and dumping them behind the sofa as well.
Five.
Xu Youyou scanned the room and realized the rest had clumped together, leaving him no opportunity to make another move.
At that moment, Zuo Lin'an appeared at the doorway.
He slipped inside silently and quietly shut the door behind him.
With this door closed and locked, every single window and door in the entire villa was now sealed.
These people were now prey caught in a trap.
Even so, they still had to be careful. After all, the glass here wasn't bulletproof; it would shatter with a bit of force.
Moreover, it was night, and with the darkness outside, if anyone managed to slip away by accident, it would be nigh impossible to find them again.
Any escapee would undoubtedly rush back at top speed to report the situation to Zhao Cheng.
If that happened, Zhao Cheng would be able to prepare in advance.
And the closest settlement to Wang Hu's was Zhao Cheng's territory.
In other words, once they finished off most of their prey here, their only remaining option would be to head to Zhao Cheng's settlement.
If Zhao Cheng and his men were prepared, things would not go nearly as smoothly when they arrived.
Therefore, they absolutely could not let a single person escape!
Zuo Lin'an swept his gaze across the room and spotted the two bodies piled behind the sofa.
This had to be Xu Youyou's handiwork. He hadn't expected the youth to move so quickly.
Meanwhile, Xu Youyou was leaning against the bedroom doorway, watching the men crowd around the bed to inspect Wang Hu's corpse.
He had originally thought about placing Wang Hu's body in the basement.
That way, if these people wanted to see the corpse, they would have to go down there.
Then, all he would have to do was block the exit, and they would have nowhere to run even if they tried.
However, the basement was where he had killed Wang Hu. He had been a bit rough, leaving blood splattered all over the walls and floor, making it too tedious to clean up.
Fortunately, there was a windowless room on the first floor of Wang Hu's villa!
Though it lacked any daily necessities and its original purpose was unclear, it happened to have a bed inside.
He had decided on the spot to place Wang Hu's corpse there.
Once everyone piled in, he and Zuo Lin'an would only need to block the door, and this group would still be trapped like rats in a jar.
At this moment, Zuo Lin'an took a few quiet steps forward.
Seeing no one in the hallway, he figured they must all be inside the bedroom.
Every now and then, he could hear shouting and cursing coming from within.
They were likely hurling the vilest insults they could think of at Wang Hu's corpse, treating him like some sort of unpardonable villain.
So, how exactly had Wang Hu offended them in the past?
Just then, however, one of them finally clued in.
“Wait, something's not right. If Wang Hu is dead, where are the twenty brothers who came here with you earlier?”
As soon as those words left his mouth, the highly excited crowd instantly fell silent. They turned to look at Xu Youyou, who was leaning against the doorframe, their eyes filling with suspicion.
“Yeah, little brother, where are they?”
“Why are you the only one here?”
Xu Youyou chuckled softly. “Them?”
Had these people really not noticed that they were already down five men?
“They got exhausted earlier while trying to pacify the people here, so they're resting in another villa. Do you want to go take a look?”
“Or should I go call them over?”
He wasn't technically lying; they were indeed resting in another villa.
It was just that his definition of “resting” might differ slightly from what they had in mind.
They found his explanation somewhat reasonable, but on second thought, Wang Hu's faction only had fewer than a hundred people in total, whereas twenty men had accompanied Xu Youyou.
On average, each person only had to handle four or five people.
Would that really take so much effort?
And they even went to sleep so early in the evening because of exhaustion?
Something was off!
It was incredibly, unbelievably suspicious!
Though these men weren't particularly bright, such a glaring loophole was bound to be noticed by someone.
“Oh no! It's a trap!”
Everyone froze at the sudden shout.
“Huh?”
“A trap? Is this corpse of Wang Hu fake?”
“The corpse isn't fake, but maybe it isn't the real Wang Hu!”
“No way. This is definitely Wang Hu. I've met him before. He has a scar on his left cheek near his chin, and I just saw it. The corpse is real.”
As he spoke, he grabbed the blanket and yanked it back, fully exposing Wang Hu's body.
Wang Hu's corpse was fully dressed.
But... even through the clothes, they could see that the angles of his limbs looked a bit unnatural. The strangest part, of course, was the tattered cloth wrapped several times around his neck.
“What's going on?”
Someone instinctively reached out to touch it, but with just that slight nudge, Wang Hu's head severed completely from his neck and rolled off the pillow.
It hit the floor and rolled all the way into the corner.
The sight made everyone's hearts skip a beat.
Seizing the opportunity while their attention was fixed on the rolling head, Xu Youyou struck instantly. With one blow for each, he knocked out two men.
The others immediately realized the danger, but their reactions were a fraction of a second too slow.
The two closest to Xu Youyou failed to pull away in time and were effortlessly floored by his casual punches.
Nine.
“What an arrogant newcomer! Are you sure you want to take on twenty of us all by yourself?!”
Although the speaker sounded tough, he had already realized that Xu Youyou's strength far surpassed theirs.
Thus, they couldn't afford to fight him head-on; they had to find a chance to flee.
Xu Youyou didn't say a word, nor did he charge forward immediately.
After all, this was just a side bedroom.
Although there wasn't much clutter, the space was tight, and a large bed took up most of it.
With four people already lying on the floor, there were still eleven prey left, plus Xu Youyou.
Under these cramped conditions, Xu Youyou couldn't move freely at all.
He couldn't kill them either, which inevitably made him hold back a little.
There was no other way.
After a brief hesitation, he took a few steps back and stood outside the doorway.
In any case, to leave the room, they had to go through the doorway. He would just wait outside; those inside were bound to charge out eventually.
If they didn't, they would just be waiting to die inside. And if they did... although they were no match for Xu Youyou, they would at least stand a chance of escaping.
