As Zuo Lin'an spoke, he glanced down at the time.
There were only two minutes left until ten o'clock at night.
A very strained smile appeared on the woman's face. She could now roughly guess why these two younger boys had been sent to Sin Hunter City.
They might look young and innocent, but in reality, they were mentally twisted psychopaths!
She regretted it!
She regretted committing murder in the first place. If she hadn't killed anyone, she would still be out there living a carefree life.
After all, she was so beautiful; with a simple crook of her finger, countless men would have been willing to spend money on her. Why did she have to end up like this?
“I was wrong.”
“Good brother, how about you spare your sister this once?”
Her heart pounded with anxiety. Not knowing what else to do, she could only plead for mercy out of sheer instinct.
There was a hint of confusion in Zuo Lin'an's voice.
“Sister, what are you saying?”
“You promised so readily earlier, so how can you back out now? I've been looking forward to this for a long time...”
As he spoke, he turned around. Before the woman could react, he suddenly reached out and clamped his hand over her face, covering her mouth, before pulling her into his embrace.
Conveniently, they were standing right next to a door. Zuo Lin'an held her close as he walked inside, casually kicking the dilapidated, decaying door shut.
“Mmph!!”
“No... No!”
The woman was terrified by this sudden turn of events.
She began to struggle and scream, trying to escape.
However, Zuo Lin'an's hand was clamped tightly over her face. Even though she wanted to scream, she couldn't make a sound, only letting out muffled whimpers.
Still, he couldn't keep his hand over her mouth forever, as it would get in the way of his next move.
In the end, he reached out, grabbed the hem of her shirt, and ripped off a large piece of fabric. Rolling it into a ball, he stuffed it into her mouth.
Then, he tore off another long strip of fabric and wrapped it around her mouth to secure it.
Only after doing all this did he let her go, letting her collapse weakly onto the floor.
“Mmph!”
She wept uncontrollably, tears and snot streaming down her face. Even though her hands weren't tied, she didn't dare untie the cloth. She was utterly terrified.
Unable to speak, she knelt on the floor and clung to Zuo Lin'an's leg, her eyes filled with desperate pleas for him to spare her.
But...
Zuo Lin'an checked the time.
“It's about time. Just over ten seconds left. Time to...”
Completely ignoring the woman's pitiful begging, he kicked her over.
He was not one to show tender, protective feelings toward the fairer sex.
The death row inmates sent to Sin Hunter City were all scum without exception. Although he didn't know what crime this woman had committed, she definitely wasn't innocent.
After all, this supernatural world was filled with specters and bizarre rules. For a place as important as Sin Hunter City, all criminals sent here had to go through a verification of the rules beforehand.
This was to prevent any wrongful accusations.
No amount of framing or fabrication could escape the rules.
Thus, Zuo Lin'an didn't hesitate for a single second when dealing with this woman.
Only now did she realize what had happened to the man from earlier, and she turned to run.
Seeing this, Zuo Lin'an frowned slightly.
“What a pain.”
“Sister, please stop moving around, okay?”
He found a struggling woman highly troublesome. Indeed, those who hadn't tasted Xu Youyou's slaps were always so full of energy.
Zuo Lin'an casually subdued her.
A few minutes later.
The door slowly opened, and he stepped out, pulling it half-shut behind him. He looked down at himself.
“Phew...”
Finally done.
He returned to the top floor.
Covered in blood, he walked over and sat down next to Xu Youyou. The latter didn't show the slightest disgust, merely placing the backpack he had brought back earlier between them.
Just in case, he didn't hand it over directly.
Sitting on the floor, Zuo Lin'an casually pulled the backpack closer and checked its contents by the moonlight.
Inside was some food and water, packed in clean, woven grass bags.
There were some steamed buns, some dry and hard bread, and several bamboo tubes filled with fresh water.
Sure enough, everything was purely natural. There wasn't even any packaging, let alone plastic bags.
He estimated the amount of food; it was only enough to last them two or three days. But two or three days would be plenty of time for them to find more.
Zuo Lin'an packed the bag back up and set it in its original spot.
The surroundings fell into a dead silence.
Over the next several hours, Zuo Lin'an took someone away every hour.
Until six o'clock in the morning, when the sky began to grow light.
Zuo Lin'an stood on the top floor, looking up at the dim sky.
Now, only three people remained.
By this point, if the three remaining people in the room still hadn't realized what was happening, they would have to be incredibly stupid.
Especially since Zuo Lin'an was walking around right in front of them in blood-stained clothes, making absolutely no effort to hide it.
All three were terrified by their own thoughts. Their faces were pale as they huddled in a corner, trembling violently and not daring to make a single move.
For fear that they would be the next one chosen.
Zuo Lin'an paid them no mind at all.
He cleaned the bloodstains off his body.
Once he was finished, he picked up the half-eaten bread Xu Youyou had left aside, ate it, and drank half a cup of water.
Since he had eaten a lot last night, he could afford to eat less now.
Zuo Lin'an looked at the empty bamboo tube in his hand, thought about it, and threw it back into the backpack. Maybe it would come in handy later?
For instance, to hold water.
Seeing that he had finished eating, Xu Youyou stood up as well. Now that it was dawn, it was time to set out.
Both of them slung a bulging backpack over their shoulders.
As for the remaining ones...
Zuo Lin'an walked to the doorway. “You three, get out here.”
