The clouds were thick tonight, blocking out the moonlight and plunging the surroundings into pitch darkness. It was impossible to see a thing.
Was this the abandoned, uninhabited residential area the staff member had mentioned?
The helicopter had already taken off again.
Zuo Lin'an looked at the other thirteen prisoners. Clutches of backpacks in hand, they stared around in confusion. The darkness and unfamiliar environment instinctively drove them to huddle together.
A few with better nerves were rummaging through their backpacks, only to grimace in disgust.
There probably wasn't anything good inside.
When he had picked up his own backpack earlier, he had noticed it felt incredibly light.
“What do we do now?”
“Any ideas?”
“What ideas could we have in the middle of the night? Let's find a place to sleep first. When we were locked up in that training base, I was constantly living in fear.”
“Yeah, they didn't treat us like humans at all!”
“So why did they do that? Is torturing and killing us supposed to be fun?”
From their conversation, Zuo Lin'an realized these death row inmates knew about the torture and killings at the training base, even if they didn't understand the reason behind them.
As they chatted and exchanged information, they failed to notice Zuo Lin'an and Xu Youyou staring at them. Like hungry wolves eyeing a flock of sheep, their eyes seemed to gleam with a faint, predatory light in the dark.
The roar of the helicopter faded into the distance and soon vanished entirely.
As if by design, a sudden gust of wind swept through, dispersing the dark clouds and revealing a crescent moon that shone like polished jade.
The bright moonlight dimly illuminated their surroundings.
It was like a signal.
Zuo Lin'an and Xu Youyou cast their backpacks aside at the same time and charged at the group.
Splitting left and right, their roles were clearly defined. Xu Youyou dove straight into the crowd!
Since they had to strictly follow their methods of execution to kill in Sin Hunter City, they couldn't afford to kill anyone directly just yet.
Because of this, Xu Youyou made a conscious effort to hold back his strength.
During classes at the training base, An Wen had worried that Xu Youyou's immense strength might accidentally kill someone, so he had taken the time to teach him techniques for controlling his power.
By now, Xu Youyou was thoroughly adept at it.
Meanwhile, Zuo Lin'an bypassed the crowd and positioned himself right in front of the rooftop's only exit.
As long as he stood there, no one was leaving.
The group clearly hadn't expected such a sudden turn of events. Facing the ferocious charge of Xu Youyou, they stood absolutely no chance.
“Ah!”
“My leg! My—”
Frowning at the loud scream, Xu Youyou slapped the man across the mouth.
With a sharp crack, the man was sent spinning in a daze. He staggered a couple of steps before collapsing face-first, completely unconscious.
Without a second glance, Xu Youyou charged at the others. He had absolute confidence in his strength; one slap was guaranteed to knock anyone out cold.
The battle was an absolute rout. The unarmed death row inmates were no match for him.
To avoid killing anyone, Xu Youyou focused on kicking their legs to cripple them. If they dared to scream, they got a slap to the face. It was best if they stayed quiet.
“What are you doing? Are you crazy?! Don't you know killing is forbidden inside Sin Hunter City?!”
Xu Youyou merely glanced at him and, without a word, delivered another slap that sent the man crashing to the ground. The man's eyes rolled back as he lost consciousness.
“Run!”
“He's trained! We can't beat him!”
“The exit is blocked too!”
“Who cares! The guy at the exit looks weaker. Let's charge him together!”
Watching the few men rushing toward him, Zuo Lin'an couldn't help but recall the days at the training base when he was repeatedly pinned to the ground and beaten by Instructor An and Xu Youyou.
Even though his skills and physical strength were still nowhere near Xu Youyou's, they were more than enough to handle a crowd of ordinary people.
Zuo Lin'an took a swift step forward and delivered a front kick directly to the stomach of the fastest runner, sending him flying back several meters.
Dodging the fists of the others, he threw rapid counterpunches, dropping two more men with a single blow each.
As for the two slowest runners, Xu Youyou caught up and pinned them to the ground.
Two quick slaps put an end to their screaming and struggling, plunging the rooftop into absolute silence.
Only about three to five minutes had passed since they landed, and ten of the thirteen prisoners were already lying on the ground.
Eight were unconscious, while two clutched their legs, groaning in low, painful whimpers. The remaining three had retreated to the edge of the rooftop when they saw the tide turn, watching the scene in sheer terror.
Xu Youyou turned his gaze toward them and let out a soft chuckle.
Without saying a word, he dashed toward them.
Zuo Lin'an didn't bother to help. They were just three ordinary people; Xu Youyou could handle them easily on his own.
Scanning the bodies scattered across the floor, he began dragging them into a single pile.
Before long, a woman's pleading voice echoed from Xu Youyou's direction.
“Don't hit me, I'll be good!”
“Little brother, I'll do whatever you want! I won't resist at all!”
Her voice was pleasant, but Zuo Lin'an didn't even look over, continuing with his work.
By the time he finished, Xu Youyou walked back carrying two of the prisoners, followed by a trembling, terrified woman.
The pleading words Zuo Lin'an had heard earlier must have come from her.
Xu Youyou had likely deemed her harmless and spared her from a beating. Since she was willing to follow obediently, it saved them the trouble of dragging her.
It had to be said, however, that the woman was indeed beautiful, with an incredibly voluptuous figure.
Perhaps confident in her looks and figure, she seemed to relax slightly, believing she wouldn't be harmed. Her seductive eyes flickered between the two boys before finally settling on Xu Youyou.
Zuo Lin'an found the sight rather amusing. She was actually trying to charm Xu Youyou?
“What... what are you trying to do?”
“You can't kill us! Killing is forbidden in Sin Hunter City!”
One of the men lying on the ground repeated the warning.
He had just watched the others get slapped unconscious by the young man, their heads swelling up like pigs' heads with dark, bruised handprints left on their faces. Thus, he made sure to keep his voice down.
Xu Youyou glanced at him but said nothing.
He didn't plan on letting these people trigger his own rules just yet.
After all, in his eyes, Zuo Lin'an's rule was the most critical one right now.
He had to kill someone every hour on the hour, which meant his timeline was extremely tight.
He planned to prioritize these people for Zuo Lin'an's use first.
This was an abandoned, uninhabited residential area. If Xu Youyou killed all of them himself and they failed to find other criminals within the required timeframe, Zuo Lin'an wouldn't be able to execute his rule. Wouldn't that be incredibly dangerous?
