The principal also realized.
“Indeed, it should be handed over to your living body. Go on, then.”
Zuo Lin'an turned and left, his figure instantly vanishing.
Fortunately, there were no players near the boys' dormitory building. When the specter Zuo Lin'an arrived at the dormitory door, his living body opened the door from the inside at that exact moment.
The specter Zuo Lin'an didn't go inside. He simply took out the cards and slipped them through the gap in the door.
Once the living body took them, he closed the door behind him and returned to the principal. The entire process was done silently, completely unseen by any players.
Seeing Zuo Lin'an return, the principal said, “We can begin.”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Zuo Lin'an saw the principal bend his limbs slightly before violently leaping upward.
In an instant, the principal vaulted over a dozen meters into the air.
With a deafening crash, the principal slammed directly onto the outer wall of the dormitory building. He clung tightly to the surface with all four limbs, anchoring himself in place.
Shards of shattered glass rained down.
Under the blood-red moonlight, the countless glass fragments resembled drops of crimson blood. They crashed onto the ground with crisp tinks, shattering into tiny, blood-red ice crystals.
Such a massive disturbance and high-profile entrance immediately drew the attention of every player.
“It's the two-headed specter! Everyone, be careful!”
As expected, those high-level players were highly confident. Even upon seeing the specter principal, they reacted with complete composure, showing no intention of running away.
Meanwhile, on the other two sides...
The group in the middle was also managing to hold their ground.
After all, though they were weaker, they still possessed some ability to fight back.
“Don't panic! Nobody run around!”
“As long as we stick together, the specter can't do anything to us!”
The group in the middle quickly calmed down as well. Facing outward, they stared intently at the specter principal.
The ones performing the worst were those useless players who had been pushed to the front near the entrance of the dormitory area.
Some were pure trash.
Others were temporarily useless, having already exhausted all their talents and specter items, leaving them defenseless. The rest were highly antisocial dregs rejected by everyone else—such as bloodthirsty murderers, or ruthless bandits with countless crimes under their belts.
If not for the fact that players were forbidden from killing each other inside the dungeon, these people would never have survived to this day.
Zuo Lin'an kept his eyes locked on the two female players, planning to find an opportunity to attack them in the chaos. However, right after the principal made his grand entrance, a minor unexpected event occurred.
Zuo Lin'an saw the two of them quietly backing away, effectively using the crowd in front as shields!
Indeed, they were slipping away!
While everyone's attention was fixed on the specter principal, they stealthily retreated to the very back. Then, with a couple of swift movements, they activated their qinggong and slipped silently into one of the dormitory buildings.
Zuo Lin'an had just locked onto their living auras and was about to give chase when he suddenly realized that the two female players' auras had vanished!
Is it a specter item? Or a talent?
He pondered for a moment. Unable to figure it out, he decided to head over and search for them first.
In the dormitory area, the boys' dormitory buildings were in the front, while the girls' dormitory buildings were in the back, with three buildings for each gender.
Since the total number of players and NPC students combined was only a thousand after the dungeon opened, only one building had been unlocked for each gender, and neither was even fully occupied.
Yet, these two female players had fled into one of the unopened girls' dormitory buildings.
Zuo Lin'an quietly circled around to avoid the majority of the players. Shrouding his figure, he stealthily slipped into the dormitory building where the two girls were hiding.
To be honest, pursuing one or two players in isolation was the safest approach for him, as there would be no other players around to interfere.
However, no matter how cautious he was, he couldn't completely avoid detection with so many players in the dormitory area.
Several players with the common talent 【Perception】 subconsciously glanced in his direction the moment he entered the building.
Fortunately, Zuo Lin'an had concealed his figure beforehand, so they saw nothing.
Even so, one player's eyes turned dark gold, clearly having activated the 【Spirit Vision】 talent!
However, perhaps sensing that Zuo Lin'an had no intention of attacking them, this player chose to stay silent.
As long as the specter didn't target him, he wasn't about to play the good Samaritan and warn the others.
Zuo Lin'an was now inside the dormitory building. Standing on the stairs leading from the first floor to the second, he recalled seeing the two female players head up. After that, they had vanished from sight.
This meant they were definitely not on the first floor.
Currently, they had used some unknown method to conceal themselves, preventing even him, in his specter form, from detecting them.
Zuo Lin'an narrowed his eyes slightly.
It seemed he would have to search for them room by room.
Back in his dorm room, the living body Zuo Lin'an checked the time. With less than fifteen minutes left until midnight, searching every single room would take far too long.
Forget it. I'll have to look anyway.
Unable to sense any living aura, his search proved exceptionally difficult. He checked several dorm rooms in a row but found no sign of anyone.
Soon, Zuo Lin'an stopped searching.
He realized he was wasting his effort.
If these two female players had used a talent or a specter item to hide, he wouldn't be able to detect them even if they were standing right in front of him.
Having come to this realization, Zuo Lin'an turned and left the dormitory building. Since there was still some time left, he planned to go out and kill a few random players.
As for those two female players...
I'll figure out their identities during the day and target them specifically during the next Scarlet Dream.
However, when he looked outside the dormitory building, he discovered that there was not a single other specter left.
Even the principal was nowhere to be seen.
It appeared the principal had been repelled by the players and sent back to the administrative building to wait for his respawn. Judging by the situation, he must have been repelled more than five times, meaning each respawn would now require a five-minute wait.
Meanwhile, there were less than four minutes left until midnight.
The Scarlet Dream was about to end.
Standing in a dark corner, his eyes quietly swept over the players who were gradually letting their guard down. A cold smile curled his lips.
It seemed they all believed they had survived.
In that case, he would teach these players a lesson.
He would show them that as long as the event hadn't ended, they had to remain absolutely vigilant—even if only a single second remained!
Zuo Lin'an waited in silence.
He was waiting for an opportunity—a perfect moment to strike.
The seconds ticked away.
Two minutes left in the dream countdown.
One and a half minutes... one minute... thirty seconds... twenty seconds...
With a casual swipe of his hand, a boning knife formed from dense specter aura materialized in his grasp.
Fifteen seconds!
By now, all the players had completely relaxed. Some were even bragging and laughing, while others slumped against the walls or sat on the ground, releasing their pent-up tension.
Ten seconds!
Strike!
