Alice was already inside, hanging equipment from her belt.
She was dressed in a suit of black leather armor, her short blonde hair tied into a neat ponytail, and she radiated a sharp, imposing aura.
Seeing Lu Yuan enter, she merely nodded as a greeting.
Old Morgan walked to the table and pointed at the supplies laid out on it.
"These are the supplies provided by the Ascension Society and the Church. They were just delivered; pick what you need."
Lu Yuan's gaze swept over them.
The table was covered with all sorts of items: alchemical grenades, specially made alchemical slugs, molotov cocktails, holy water, holy silver daggers... and several scrolls of holy scripture.
Pale grey text surfaced in his vision, displaying the properties of these items one by one.
Lu Yuan scanned them, picked out a few alchemical grenades to hang at his waist, and took a handful of alchemical slugs to put into his ammunition pouch.
Finally, Lu Yuan's gaze landed on the molotov cocktails. Unlike the ones he had seen in the sewers before, the bottles before him were filled with an orange-red liquid, with tiny sparks swimming within when shaken.
【Item Analysis: Enchanted Molotov Cocktail (Maritime Type)】
【Characteristics: Special formula; can be used on the sea surface; flames will not be easily extinguished by seawater】
【Deals extra damage to deep-sea-type mutated creatures】
Lu Yuan took two bottles and carefully placed them in his backpack.
Then he hung a blessing amulet around his neck and applied a layer of purifying holy oil to his dagger.
Alice had already finished her selection and was standing to the side, waiting.
Seeing that both of them had finished, Old Morgan beckoned Lu Yuan over to the side.
Curious, Alice followed them.
Old Morgan took a small wooden box from his coat and opened the lid, revealing two deep-red spheres lying inside.
The spheres emitted a faint glow and looked quite powerful.
"This is complete-type exorcism gunpowder."
Old Morgan's expression became solemn.
"It is different from the ordinary type you used at Thorn Manor."
Lu Yuan took the wooden box and examined it closely.
Pale grey text emerged:
【Contacted alchemical knowledge; insufficient knowledge, acquisition failed】
Like the ordinary type, it still failed to provide more information.
"This is a high-end product from our Alchemy Department," Old Morgan continued. "Unlike the ordinary type, this thing has a larger explosion radius, and the exorcism light powder and flames last much longer."
"It is far more effective at suppressing the eerie. Of course, the safety measures are almost non-existent. When you trigger it, you must throw it immediately, or you'll blow yourself up."
Alice watched from the side and couldn't help but speak up: "Old Morgan, you really are biased."
Old Morgan glared at her. "What are you, a Flesh transcendent, arguing with a medic for? Besides, the base doesn't have much good stuff left. Only some mithril remains; take it onto the ship later."
Lu Yuan tucked the wooden box away carefully, keeping it close to his person.
"Don't die, Lu Yuan!" Old Morgan patted his shoulder.
Just as the words left his mouth, the door to the armory was pushed open, and three people walked in.
The one in the lead was a burly middle-aged man. Lu Yuan recognized him; it was Gray, who had helped clear the mutated agglomerate in the sewers before. He was a heavy hitter who provided a great sense of security.
Behind him followed the somewhat taciturn Ed, as well as a younger teammate who looked to be in his early twenties with a steady gaze.
"This is Leonard," Alice introduced briefly. "From the first team. A veteran."
Leonard nodded toward Lu Yuan.
The three then walked to the table and began packing the remaining supplies.
"Remember to keep them safe," Old Morgan instructed. "When you're on the ship, try to stay in the cabins. Do not get into conflicts with the people from the Ascension Society or the Church."
Gray acknowledged the order and packed the holy water and scripture scrolls into his backpack.
With the equipment distribution complete, everyone geared up to depart.
Old Morgan led them into a horse-drawn carriage and headed toward the docks. Several other carriages followed behind, carrying a few helpers and several heavy wooden crates.
The port was at the edge of the Outer City; even by carriage, the journey would take some time.
When Lu Yuan arrived at the docks with the team, the Ascension Society's ship was already moored there.
It was a black steamship, a size larger than ordinary merchant vessels.
The hull was covered in thick metal armor engraved with dense inscriptions that shimmered with a faint blue light in the morning sun.
White steam billowed from the funnel with a low roar, like a slumbering iron beast.
The ship's name was carved in copper letters on the side—"Abyssal Hunter".
The docks were already busy with many people moving various goods and supplies.
Old Morgan called out to the helpers behind him: "Bring the mithril and the other items up and place them in the cabin."
The helpers moved as ordered, carrying the wooden crates onto the ship.
Lu Yuan followed Alice onto the deck and saw the Ascension Society's people already waiting there.
The man in charge was a middle-aged man wearing a deep grey robe. His left eye was a precision mechanical prosthetic eye; as it turned, one could see the complex gear structures inside.
As Lu Yuan focused his gaze, pale grey text surfaced:
【Target Analysis: Marcus (mechanical augmenter)】
【Characteristics: A being who has abandoned part of his human body, replacing flesh with alchemical creations. The degree of modification is deep, making it difficult to discern his original human features.】
【Weakness: Modified parts rely on alchemical energy; strong electromagnetic interference can cause temporary failure.】
Behind Marcus stood three people in black robes wearing bird-beak masks.
They stood motionless, like three statues.
【Target Analysis: Descendant (mechanical cyborg)】
【Characteristics: Creations stripped of most of their flesh and will, retaining only basic neural reflexes and an instinct for obedience. Beneath their masks, a complete human face might no longer exist.】
【Weakness: Rigid patterns of movement, lacking independent judgment. Will fall into chaos if the commander is killed.】
At the entrance to the ship's cabin stood a massive figure.
It was a steel giant far taller than a normal man, covered head to toe in heavy metal armor. Complex alchemical pipes were visible at its joints.
Its head was a bird-beak-shaped mask. It stood there in the shadows, unmoving, but the invisible sense of pressure it radiated was the strongest among the crowd.
【Target Analysis: Arbiter (high-level alchemical creation)】
【Characteristics: A weapon of war forged with the full effort of the Ascension Society. It is unknown if human consciousness remains beneath the armor, where a human body and steel have been fused together through unknown means.】
【Weakness: Requires a long 'maintenance' cycle after every full operation and lacks effective protection against mental-type attacks.】
【Current Status: Standby】
Lu Yuan was momentarily stunned when he saw the information on the Arbiter. The Ascension Society had even brought out a trump card of this level. It was clear they were determined to succeed in this mission. He felt he might be a little safer now.
