Chapter 320 · Volume 1

Isn't This a Bit Too Targeted?!

“You were poisoned by me! Why are you completely fine?!” Sarah shrieked at the two of them in exasperation.
But no one answered her.
The severed translucent tentacles all over her body began to continuously regrow.
Negative spirituality surged frantically in front of her, condensing in the blink of an eye into a shield made of writhing flesh.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets and crossbow bolts rained down relentlessly on the flesh shield, blasting away dense showers of shredded meat.
As he fired continuously, Elias didn't stop moving, constantly closing the distance between them.
Seeing this, Sarah knew full well that her flesh shield wouldn't hold for long.
The gray mist surrounding her abruptly contracted, and her body instantly transformed into a wisp of thin fog.
“Watch out!”
Bloodsong's face paled in the background as he warned through the mental channel:
“【Mist Walk】! It allows her to turn into a small patch of mist and move rapidly over short distances!”
Before his voice could fade, the patch of gray mist vanished into thin air.
When it reappeared, it had already drifted to Bloodsong's side and abruptly exploded.
Boom!
The violent spiritual air currents tore through the atmosphere with a sharp, hissing sound.
Bloodsong was blown back half a step by the shockwave, but without any hesitation, he used the momentum to spin around and draw a dagger hidden in his boot.
The infernal spirituality pooled inside his body surged instantly.
Dark red flames violently coated the edge of the dagger, filling the air with the sharp scent of sulfur.
On the other side, Elias swung his left hand violently.
The cool moonlight spirituality within him flowed along his Rational Circuits.
【Moonfire】 suddenly erupted from the ground beneath Sarah's feet, a pillar of silver-white fire instantly blocking his line of sight.
Within the cramped space of the lighthouse tower, the opponent's bizarre physical resistance and movement speed made the pace of the battle outrageously fast.
Elias didn't even have a single opportunity to reload his revolver.
The pistol's firing pin clicked hollowly against empty chambers.
He had no choice but to holster the revolver with a reverse grip, tighten his hold on the Thorn Cutlass, and find a way to close the distance for close-quarters combat.
Looking at the empty revolver, he sighed inwardly.
Sigh, good old elemental gun, I miss you.
If he had that weapon that automatically absorbed spirituality to reload, how could the situation have ended up like this?
On the other side of the battlefield, Bloodsong's offensive was extremely fierce.
The flaming dagger traced a dark red arc, on the verge of piercing Sarah's neck.
But at the very instant the tip of the blade was only millimeters away from her skin, Bloodsong's movements suddenly ground to a halt.
His arm froze completely in midair, as if it had slammed into an invisible, heavy iron wall.
His body trembled slightly, blue veins bulging on the surface of his skin, as if he were exerting massive force but could not advance even a single step further.
Sarah stood right in front of the blade.
Looking at the immobilized Bloodsong, a cruel and smug smile spread across her face.
The translucent tentacles wriggled and twisted excitedly around her ears.
“No wonder... No wonder my toxin had no effect on you.”
Sarah slowly leaned closer, greedily sniffing Bloodsong's spiritual aura in the air, and let out a shrill laugh:
“You're actually a girl!”
“Huh?!”
Elias, who was just about to activate his 【Wind-Chaser Boots】 to rush over and flank her, stumbled upon hearing this, nearly tripping over his own feet on the spot.
Bloodsong was a girl?!
What the hell?
However, he didn't have much time to be surprised right now.
Life and death on the battlefield was often decided in an instant.
The Wind-Chaser Boots unleashed incredible speed at this moment.
Perhaps because these boots had also received the nourishment of pure spirituality inside the Gluttonous Stomach, he felt his speed was even faster than before.
In fact, with just a single step, he could shoot forward much farther than before.
Swish!
An elongated afterimage was left in the air.
When Elias flashed to Bloodsong's side and swung his Thorn Cutlass—wrapped in frost and moonlight—at Sarah once more, something completely unexpected happened.
What met his blade was not Sarah's defense.
Clang!
The two blades clashed, sending sparks flying in all directions.
Bloodsong had actually raised his hand to block his strike.
The infernal fire on the dagger grated violently against the frost on the cutlass, emitting a harsh, screeching hiss.
“What are you doing?”
Elias growled, his brow furrowed in deep confusion.
But without a moment's hesitation, he used the recoil to immediately pull back his blade and swing it again in a backhand slash.
The spirituality in his body instantly connected to the Origin Web.
【Moonfire】 erupted from the ground beneath Sarah's feet once more, forcing her to defend.
Seeing this, the cruel smile on Sarah's face faded slightly.
She immediately slammed her tentacles against the ground, forcing herself away from her original position and landing near the stairs over ten meters away.
“Can't you tell this isn't my own doing?!” Bloodsong yelled through gritted teeth.
Right now, his entire body felt like a puppet controlled by invisible threads, completely unable to command his own flesh.
Under his own helpless gaze, his left hand slowly rose, aiming the black iron repeating crossbow directly at Elias's chest.
“Get out of the way!”
Bloodsong squeezed the words out from between his teeth.
No sooner had he spoken, a single tracer round enveloped in violent fire shot straight toward Elias's face.
At such close range, there was absolutely no room for error.
Elias had no desire to block this head-on with his 【Moonlight Barrier】.
Whether it held or not, he would be the one suffering.
He could only push his boots to their absolute limit.
Swish.
Elias's figure shifted into a sharp zig-zag once more, lunging diagonally forward toward the staircase where Sarah stood.
Standing on the high ground, Sarah let out a delighted, shrill giggle.
Watching the two of them dodge frantically below the steps, her voice was dripping with the cruelty of a cat playing with mice:
“Killing each other is so wonderful!”
“Watching you torture each other is simply too much fun.”
She propped herself up with the thick tentacles behind her to float in midair and sneered:
“Saves me the trouble of doing it myself.”
Then, her pupil-less white eyes locked dead onto Elias.
“She's a girl, so my toxin has no effect on her.”
“But what about you?”
Sarah looked at Elias, who had already reached her. As she used her tentacles to prop up her body and dodge, she asked with great interest:
“Are you a girl too?”
“Screw you!” Elias cursed loudly.
“I'm just gifted by nature!”
Before his voice even faded, the cutlass in his hand turned into a dazzling streak of light.
Its ultimate sharpness swept across.
Slice!
The sound of flesh severing was dull and clean.
The blade in Elias's hand once again sliced through the tentacles she used for support.
A large clump of translucent flesh stalks fell to the ground, instantly frozen into blue blocks of ice by the power of Frostbite.
“Ah—!!”
Sarah shrieked, her entire face contorting in agony.
A fierce light flared in her eyes as violent negative spirituality surged frantically along those invisible mental threads.
She intended to control Bloodsong to attack Elias, to deliver a fatal backstab to this damned human man.
But on the other side, Bloodsong appeared incredibly infuriated at being controlled.
His pride as a Dvorin made it impossible for him to tolerate being used as a plaything by a lowly mutated human.
“Get... out of me!!” Bloodsong roared frantically in his mind.
He tried desperately to force himself to drop his weapon to avoid hurting Elias again.
But the negative spirituality lurking within his body was like iron pincers, locking down his nerves tightly.
His body would not obey him.
Bloodsong's expression became incredibly menacing in that instant.
And so, he gritted his teeth.
The spirituality throughout his entire body began to burn.
A burst of dark red infernal flames erupted from his every pore.
The violent infernal flames began to spread across his body, wrapping him completely in a raging fireball.
The control threads in the void, originally invisible, were burned into visibility at this moment.
They were dozens of grayish-white spiritual threads.
And the infernal flames began to burn backward along those spiritual threads.
Sarah was shocked by the sight.
She already had the 【Brand of Pain】 on her, which she could barely endure for now.
But if she were burned by infernal flames on top of that, the pain would be too much to bear.
She didn't dare hesitate for a second and immediately severed the flow of her spirituality.
“Do you two know me?!”
“Isn't this a bit too targeted?!”
