Chapter 214 · Volume 1

Real Men Never Look Back at the Explosion

Hearing the command echo in his mind, Guss’s face contorted into an indescribably twisted expression.
Wasn't this just a roundabout way of making him fight the mountain of flesh?!
He was being paid for one job but forced to do two!
“Damned humans!”
Guss cursed venomously in his heart.
But despite his cursing, the moment he thought of the indescribable, terrifying existence standing behind this man, the anger that had just flared up in the demon was instantly extinguished, as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over him.
He couldn't afford to offend him.
Fine, he would comply.
Swoosh—
Guss’s mountain-like body instantly transformed into a streak of blinding white light.
The next second.
He materialized out of thin air behind the two alchemy puppets that were preparing to unleash Divine Smite.
The puppets had no time to react.
Before they could even turn around to bring down their weapons wreathed in holy fire, Guss reached out with two massive, iron-like hands.
With one in each hand, he accurately seized the metal heads of the two killing machines and hurled them toward the mountain of flesh!
...
At this moment, the mountain of flesh was fully concentrated on dealing with the flea-like annoyance that was Elias.
Although it had just performed a desperate self-amputation, using its own intestines to tear off its burning arm, its meager intelligence understood one thing.
If it didn't completely crush this slippery human, the guy would definitely climb back up and reach its head again.
It instinctively sensed a dangerous aura from Elias.
Therefore, the mountain of flesh was frantically gathering spirituality to cast Protective Winds.
Violent air currents formed a wind field around its body in an attempt to block Elias’s approach.
Just as it thought it had the situation under control, two whistling sounds came from below.
The monster watched in shock as the demon it had been most wary of threw two metal lumps glowing with holy light right at it!
From the start of the battle until now, it had been secretly guarding against this creature from the infernal realm.
After all, a single fire ray from earlier had blown a massive hole in its corpse armor. That destructive infernal power had left a deep psychological scar.
However, since the demon hadn't initiated any further attacks after that initial retaliation, the mountain of flesh had decided not to provoke the beast.
Who would have thought it would suddenly strike now?
How was it supposed to withstand this?
In a life-or-death moment, the mountain of flesh made its choice.
It had to eliminate the fatal threat above first!
It suddenly changed direction.
Massive amounts of spirituality converged frantically in front of it.
An ice-blue ray of extreme cold tore through the air, shooting straight toward the two alchemy puppets!
As for Elias, who was falling along with the severed arm...
It would just have to let him go for a moment.
However, the mountain of flesh had miscalculated.
The moment the Freezing Ray was about to hit its targets, the two alchemy puppets in mid-air had also just entered their attack range for the monster.
The light of the puppets' Divine Smite reached its peak instantly.
Boom! Boom!
Two bursts of radiance energy, saturated with holy aura, erupted without reservation at the mountain of flesh’s lower half!
The intense light was blinding.
At the same time, the Freezing Ray collided with the puppets. The extreme cold froze the two alchemy puppets into ice sculptures, along with the ground below them.
The damage from the Divine Smite also slammed squarely into the mountain of flesh.
The monster let out a heart-wrenching scream.
Having taken two consecutive hits of Divine Smite, the supposedly indestructible corpse armor covering its surface began to disintegrate in large patches.
Countless charred limbs and severed parts fell away like autumn petals, stripping from its massive frame.
The Protective Winds swirling around it were also interrupted by the heavy blow.
The eyes of the Seventh Agency investigators lit up instantly at the sight.
In a flash, radiance bombs, tracer rounds, and radiance rays were poured onto the monster's unprotected body as if they cost nothing.
A forest of bullets rained down.
The mountain of flesh stumbled back repeatedly in agony.
It waved its hands frantically, channeling its spirituality once more.
Create Water!
A massive amount of water generated out of thin air was condensed and transformed into walls of ice.
But it failed to notice that at the stump of its severed arm, a ghost-like figure was still clinging tightly to it.
Elias.
The wind had stopped.
For Elias, this was the perfect, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
He endured the tearing pain in his muscles from the over-usage of Arcane Step.
Using both hands and feet like a nimble black panther, he performed several clean climbs and flipped onto the mountain of flesh’s shoulder.
Steady stance. Draw gun.
The cold barrel of the short-barreled shotgun aimed directly at the monster's small head.
The mountain of flesh finally sensed the arrival of death.
Its glazed, dead eyes rolled backward violently. It finally saw the reaper who had somehow reached its shoulder.
A flash of unbelievable terror crossed John’s distorted face.
It opened its mouth in rage, wanting to let out one final roar.
But Elias gave it no chance.
“It's time to say goodbye.”
Elias’s voice was cold and soft.
His finger pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Bang!
Two consecutive shotgun pellets glowing with purple light poured from the barrel.
That disgusting head was like a rotten watermelon hit by a hammer, instantly exploding into a mess of pulp!
But how could a necromantic creature be killed just by losing its head?
Deprived of its head, the mountain of flesh fell into a state of absolute frenzy.
Its remaining good hand flailed wildly toward Elias, while the intestines in its abdomen danced like a swarm of demons, also lunging at him!
In this critical moment, Elias didn't even plan to dodge.
He simply caught a glimpse of The Roaring Cane hanging at his waist with the corner of his eye.
At the tip of the cane, the previously dim gemstone facets were now glowing with a blinding intensity.
All resonance stacks were fully charged.
It was time to settle the bill.
Looking at the tsunami-like attacks rushing toward him, a cold sneer curled the corner of Elias’s mouth.
The orb at his waist flashed.
Arcane Step.
His figure vanished with unhurried grace.
Bang!
The giant hand slammed violently into the spot where Elias had been, once again sending the corpses making up the monster's body flying.
Meanwhile, Elias had already appeared in mid-air.
Slow Fall made him like a weightless feather, drifting slowly toward the ground against the foul-smelling wind.
At the same time, he shifted the Moonlight Barrier behind him.
The moment his Wind-Chaser Boots touched the muddy, frozen earth, he landed.
He drew The Roaring Cane from his waist with a backhand motion and tapped the bottom of the cane lightly against the ground.
Thump.
It was a very soft sound, yet it was as clear as an infernal death knell.
Ten resonance stacks were activated instantly.
Within John’s corpse, which was buried deep in the center of the mountain of flesh, a massive force field began to expand outward.
The charms that had been previously embedded into the head of the living corpse, Finn, were also activated by his command!
The moment the charms activated, they triggered the explosion of the several thunderclap ammo rounds packed together with them!
Time seemed to hit the pause button at that moment.
The mountain of flesh’s massive frame suddenly stiffened in place. The intestines and arms flying toward Elias all froze in mid-air.
The force field energy accumulated to its limit.
BOOM—!!!!
A world-shaking explosion erupted from behind Elias.
The destructive force instantly tore the mountain of flesh’s body to shreds!
Fragments of meat, severed limbs, internal organs, and black pus—it was like a downpour in hell, spraying in every direction!
Elias slowly straightened his body.
He leaned one hand on The Roaring Cane, resting it on the ground, while the other hand reached deliberately into his Gluttonous Stomach.
He pulled out the Spy's Derby Hat he had placed inside before the fight.
He brushed the dust off the hat and placed it firmly on his head.
Behind him was a fireworks display of flying flesh and blood.
The chunks of shredded meat slammed into the Moonlight Barrier behind Elias with muffled thuds, sliding down into a pile of mud.
Not even a corner of his trench coat was touched.
In the distance, the Seventh Agency investigators were completely dumbfounded.
They had been worrying about how to break through the hard ice wall the monster had created on the surface.
The sudden roar of the explosion had cut off all their discussions.
When they finally reacted and looked at the rain of flesh and blood flying through the sky, and saw the figure leaning on the cane...
“The mountain of flesh is dead?!”
A voice rang out, filled with unconcealed shock.
“The informant did that?!”
