With that, Elias pulled the Moon Veil over his shoulders.
His figure instantly melted into the black mist.
He drew the short-barreled shotgun he had just acquired. Following the pointers engraved on the firearm, he aligned it with the Roaring Cane hanging at his waist.
After a brief moment of supernatural resonance, a mark emitting a faint blue light slowly emerged on the shotgun.
It was a strange symbol resembling four brackets—two larger arcs precisely encasing two smaller ones within.
And that was it.
Trait duplication successful.
Simple and crude—it was exactly what one would expect from the high-end equipment of the Seventh Agency.
However, before he could even test the power of his new weapon, a sharp whistling sound suddenly cut through the air!
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Several thick, dark shadows tore through the dense mist, lunging straight for his face with a nauseating, fishy stench.
Elias instinctively rolled to the side.
The moment he dodged, the objects slammed heavily into a nearby tombstone with a wet thud.
Only then did Elias finally see what they were.
To hell with tentacles!
These were swollen intestines!
A wave of intense discomfort washed over him.
Elias couldn't help but recall earlier today when he had reached into John's abdominal cavity, remembering that slimy, revolting sensation.
The Moonlight Barrier instantly expanded.
The silver dome of light flickered within the black mist, parrying the subsequent ambushes from the trailing intestines.
Elias pressed and pulled at his waist, switching the short-barreled shotgun back to his familiar revolver.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
He fired resonance bullets in quick succession.
Violent kinetic energy, accompanied by the roar of thunder, erupted from the barrel. Several intestines were blasted into bloody shreds.
At the same time, he gripped his knife in a reverse hold.
The blade flashed like a streak of red silk.
Another intestine attempting an attack from the side was cleanly severed.
“E... lias...!”
A hair-raising call echoed from deep within the black mist.
“Way... land!”
The mountain of flesh was roaring.
It was still searching for him and Luke.
Elias let out a cold sneer.
Moon Vision covered his eyes.
The thick, black mist could no longer obstruct his sight.
He clearly saw the position of the massive creature.
He glanced down once more to confirm the state of the Roaring Cane at his waist.
It still maintained the previous five resonance stacks.
Time was running out.
He took a deep breath of cold air, the spirituality within his body circulating wildly like boiling water.
The properties of the Wind-Chaser Boots were activated.
Combined with the flicker of the Arcane Step orb, he left an afterimage where he stood.
Using the arcane recoil, he began a series of erratic, zig-zagging dashes through the maze of tombstones!
Within the mist, the mountain of flesh had lost its sight. It could only rely on a crude perception of Elias’s spiritual fluctuations, frantically flailing the thick intestines that extended from its abdomen.
The scene was as spectacular as it was disgusting.
Elias, his figure hidden in the air, moved like a ghost dancing on the edge of a meat grinder.
One moment he would appear to sever an incoming intestine with his blade, and the next he would fire from mid-air, using resonance bullets to turn the foul organs into mush.
The mountain of flesh was enraged.
A grotesque arm, cobbled together from a dozen human thighs, slammed violently into the ground.
The light of an Electric Claw spell flickered wildly across the giant arm.
Blinding currents of electricity danced like crazed serpents, grazing the hem of Elias’s coat. They scorched deep, blackened furrows into the mud around him.
It didn't stop there.
When Elias used Arcane Step to close in dangerously beneath the mountain of flesh, the mass of intestines on the monster’s belly began to writhe frantically.
The intestines twisted together like a massive braid and swept across the ground in a 180-degree arc, leaving no blind spots!
It intended to use this move to swat Elias away and break the concentration of the investigator further off who was maintaining the Silence Cage.
Several investigators dove clumsily into the mud to barely avoid the sweep.
Those closer to the monster actually scrambled onto its body, desperately searching for an opening to deal damage.
Elias, however, had no intention of dodging.
The orb flashed again as he directly changed the direction of the Arcane Step recoil.
A massive burst of arcane energy was released straight toward the ground below!
The powerful counterforce propelled him upward like a rocket, instantly launching him five meters into the air.
Aerial operations had begun.
Elias gripped the knife tightly in his left hand.
Spirituality surged.
Frostbite was activated.
Extreme cold spread from his fingertips, instantly freezing his left hand and the knife handle together in a solid grip.
He intended to repeat his previous tactic and latch onto the mountain of flesh once more.
But this time, the monster had clearly learned its lesson.
A violent burst of air erupted from its body!
A gale strong enough to overturn a carriage rose from the ground, carrying a heavy stench of rot as it slammed into Elias mid-air.
His trajectory was instantly blown off course.
Simultaneously, a grotesque hand covered in dead faces swiped toward him with the weight of a falling mountain.
There was no room to dodge.
“Damn it.”
Elias quickly adjusted the angle of his Moonlight Barrier to block the front.
At the same time, his right hand moved with lightning speed, pulling two thin charms from his waist and throwing them forward without hesitation!
One force field.
One warding.
Buzz!
The force field charm exploded in mid-air, slightly dampening the momentum of the giant hand.
Yet the massive force still arrived as expected.
The light shield formed by the warding charm was brutally shattered.
Though part of the force had been negated, the remaining terrifying kinetic energy still slammed into Elias’s Moonlight Barrier without suspense.
He was sent flying back like a fly hit by a swatter, the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth.
But in mid-air, Elias gritted his teeth and activated Arcane Step again.
Despite having lost his balance, he used a series of arcane recoils to forcibly arrest his backward momentum.
As the Slow Fall effect continued to sustain him, he pulled out a parchment scroll from his person.
It was one of the items he had looted from John’s remains.
Spirituality was injected like a raging fire.
The scroll instantly burned to ash.
A heart-pounding arcane fluctuation erupted from Elias’s hand!
A Scale Three spell—Witch Bolt!
Sizzle!
A deep blue spear of arcane energy, appearing as if condensed from pure high-voltage plasma, tore through the darkness.
It flew straight toward the twisted head of the mountain of flesh.
A flash of terror crossed John’s shriveled eyeballs.
Its cumbersome body twisted desperately in an attempt to dodge the lethal strike.
Boom!
The blue energy spear eventually exploded half a meter beside its head.
There was no explosion of flesh and blood.
Only a blinding arcane light.
In the darkness, a flickering blue arc of energy remained, connecting the man and the monster.
“Saves me the trouble of finding you, and you the trouble of finding me!”
A light named madness swirled in the depths of Elias’s eyes.
The light of Slow Fall flickered beneath his feet one last time.
He landed steadily and, guided by the energy arc, charged toward the mountain of flesh once again!
At that moment...
On the other side of the battlefield.
A gale far more violent than before swept over from the direction of the convent!
It was the terrifying air pressure generated by the clash between Guss and the alchemy puppets.
Several alchemy puppets had forcibly dragged the fight toward the mountain of flesh.
As the gale passed, the black mist shrouding the cemetery was finally blown away completely.
The field of vision instantly cleared.
Elias’s charge came to a sudden halt.
Because he saw someone.
Luke.
The man was currently standing leisurely at the entrance of the convent's church, looking like an unconcerned spectator.
“John!”
Elias suddenly tilted his head back and roared at the mountain of flesh.
In the next second, the hand clutching the energy arc clenched tightly!
The massive arcane energy instantly triggered a blinding flash, surging through the energy arc and back into the mountain of flesh’s body!
The monster immediately jerked in pain.
Its massive body swung around, locking its gaze onto the source of the injury—Elias.
Elias slowly raised his right hand.
He pointed toward the figure standing by the distant church doors.
“Your other target is over there!”
