Seeing the way the two dragons interacted and hearing their brief exchange, Saisa finally understood their relationship.
"Pfft—"
A pleasant laugh rang out. The two dragons paused and turned to see Saisa covering her mouth, giggling softly.
"Uh... please, continue."
Jonavili glanced at the pitiful-looking fellow in her grip and tossed him aside like trash.
She patted the dust off her clothes and looked Saisa up and down.
"Escaped from Dragon Island? Not bad. You've got guts."
Saisa withdrew her scrutinizing gaze and nodded.
"I regret it, though."
Jonavili walked over to the garden swing and sat down; Saisa did the same.
Ignoring the reason for Saisa's regret, Jonavili spoke again.
"Why come to White Crystal City? Did you come to punish evil in the name of justice?"
Saisa replied, "Something like that. I was just too young, though. I acted without understanding the situation first."
Jonavili asked, "How long have you been here? What do you think of it?"
Saisa thought for a moment.
"It's been over twenty years. It feels okay. The monsters here are quite... orderly."
"It's hard to imagine this is a city-state ruled by a chromatic dragon."
As she spoke, Saisa looked at Jonavili, who waved her hand dismissively.
"I'm just a hands-off boss. I'm usually too lazy to manage those things."
"That is still very impressive."
Noticing that Saisa was staring at her, Jonavili felt confused.
"Why are you staring at me? That's quite rude, you know."
Hearing this, Saisa quickly looked away.
"I'm sorry."
"What's there to apologize for?"
After hesitating for a while, Saisa asked cautiously,
"Are you a hybrid of a silver dragon and a white dragon?"
Jonavili spread her hands, her silver-white dragon tail swishing in front of her.
"Isn't it obvious?"
"It's very... obvious. It might be a bit forward of me to ask, but why would a silver dragon fall for a white dragon?"
Saisa's voice was very small, as if she were afraid of offending Jonavili's dignity.
Little did she know, Jonavili didn't care at all.
"How should I know? Maybe it was mating season. That silver dragon couldn't beat the white dragon in strength and got forced, I guess."
"Uh, haha, well..."
Jonavili's words were blunt, but the possibility was quite high.
"But if that happened, the white dragon would be hunted down by the elders of Dragon Island. I've never heard of a silver dragon leading everyone to find trouble with a white dragon over being harassed."
Jonavili suggested, "Maybe he was too embarrassed to say anything?"
Saisa laughed. "Hahaha, you're quite humorous."
"But listening to you, it seems you don't care about your father or mother?"
"Of course. Why should I care so much? The reason chromatic dragons are so free is because they aren't bound by these useless shackles. We do whatever we want."
Hearing Jonavili's explanation and seeing her nonchalant expression, Saisa's understanding of chromatic dragons deepened.
Cold and heartless, yet still possessing a trace of warmth.
"It's a pity you weren't born on Dragon Island. Otherwise, I think we could have been great playmates, like Big Brother Masonlis, Sister Ailal, Klons..."
"Stop, stop, stop. Enough. No need to show off the complex family ties between you metallic dragons. I'm not interested."
Jonavili quickly cut her off, and Saisa shrugged.
"Alright. But it's still a pity."
"Fortunately, our silver dragon genes are strong. Your intelligence has taken the high ground."
Hearing Saisa's words, Jonavili recalled the original owner's former idiotic state where she couldn't even speak, and silently refuted in her heart.
'Yeah, right. You're full of it. Forget silver dragons, even the genes of those big brother gold dragons might not change a white dragon's IQ. If I weren't an otherworldly demon, well...'
"Um... it seems someone from Dragon Island has arrived. They're looking for me."
Jonavili was stunned, her gaze turning slightly cold.
"Did you contact them?"
She wasn't surprised at all that metallic dragons had special ways of communicating, she just didn't expect it to take this long.
Saisa shook her head, which was somewhat outside of Jonavili's expectations.
"No. It's because I haven't returned for too long, so they came out to find me."
"Oh? Then why didn't you contact them before?"
Saisa fell silent, and Jonavili didn't rush her. A moment later, a light sigh escaped her lips.
"At first, I wanted to, but I also really wanted to prove myself, so I kept hesitating.
It wasn't until later, when Gris came to talk to me every day, and I discovered that this City of Monsters seemed different from what the older generation taught me.
I realized there is no absolute justice and no absolute evil. Even the most cruel chromatic dragons have a good side.
So I began to observe. Although my movements were restricted, I achieved my intended goal."
Hearing Saisa's words, Jonavili gave her a few extra looks.
"Not bad. You have your own thoughts and haven't been bound by stereotypes."
"Thank you. Dragon Island sent Uncle Bolite. He's a dragon in his mature adult stage. When the time comes, I'll persuade him not to punish you."
The dragons of Dragon Island had been contacting Saisa through the metallic imprint in their draconic inheritance. Although Saisa kept saying she was doing well, they still sent Bolite out of concern.
Even though Saisa firmly refused, she was ignored by Bolite.
"Oh? Then I should thank you."
"No need."
"Alright, let's end the chat here. I'm getting hungry."
As she spoke, Jonavili stood up and glanced at Gris, who wanted to speak but didn't dare to interrupt.
"Just in time, a certain someone is about to run out of patience."
Saisa smiled slightly. "Okay."
Jonavili asked, "Want to join?"
Saisa was stunned. She hadn't expected Jonavili to invite her, but she nodded after reacting.
"I'd love to go with you, but that red dragon doesn't allow me to wander around."
"Eh, it's no big deal. I'm the boss; just listen to me."
"Uh... alright then."
Just like that, Jonavili contacted Medusa through their bloodline connection, telling her to bring the food to the Sam River.
After doing this, Jonavili reached out her hand.
"Let's go. Together."
Saisa hesitated for a moment before taking Jonavili's hand.
"Mm!"
And so, Jonavili led Saisa toward the Sam River. Seeing them holding hands, Gris stamped his feet in anger, his teeth gnashing.
"Dammit, Big Sis! I haven't even held her hand yet!"
"Sigh... if only I were a female dragon, I would have held Lady Saisa's hand long ago."
Despite his dissatisfaction, Gris still followed them.
"Big Sis, wait for me! I want to eat too!"
...
By the time they reached the Sam River, many attractive female monsters were already standing there. Without exception, they were all wearing maid uniforms.
Liya and Galina were naturally among them, though they had voluntarily suppressed their draconic traits, appearing once again in their fox-girl forms.
