Power... Power is surging!
Ah...! This is my super power!
Despite wearing the heavy, pure white armor, Lynn felt as light as if he were wearing nothing at all.
The world before his eyes instantly cleared. The dancing magic was like a clingy, lovesick young girl, leaping joyfully toward the pure white knight.
With his legs straight, he held his sword in one hand, pointing the tip diagonally toward the ground.
The long, bright red plume of his helmet rustled wildly in the fierce wind.
“Truly magnificent,” Alastor said, his raspy voice filled with admiration.
“I have long heard that the Cathedral's Saintess can only unleash her true power on the battlefield. But I never expected... that you could achieve such a level at only Tier 3!”
“To awaken Inherent Magic at such a young age—you are only the second person I have ever seen do so.”
He licked his lips. “Ah... what a tender, green, and enticing fruit! I truly cannot wait to—”
Before he could finish, his perverted expression froze, and in the next instant, Alastor's head flew into the sky.
Having flickered behind him, the crouched knight did not halt his assault.
“Slash—”
The dazzling sword light danced in an airtight defense, slicing him into mincemeat in an instant, before finally following up with a long-charged fireball.
“Parallel Chanting? You're improving pretty fast, kid!”
“It's all thanks to the excellent teachings of Lady Saintess!”
Staring at Alastor, who emerged from another avatar, Lynn clicked his tongue. “You really are like an annoying ghost that just won't stay dead.”
“But it's nothing more than—” Lynn smiled brightly, “—killing you once more!”
As headless corpses collapsed one after another, the 【Parallel Chanting】 trait was also rapidly transforming.
It upgraded from its initial green to blue, and was even gradually transforming toward purple.
Unlike Lynn, whose spirits were rising higher and higher, Alastor's face was currently as grim as still water.
‘I underestimated them...’
‘But... it's nothing more than wasting a bit more time.’
‘An inherent buff spell shares mana between the caster and their subordinate, and the Saintess's mana is already on the verge of exhaustion.’
‘So... only this kid's mana is keeping them afloat!’
‘With a buff spell of this level, even if a Tier 3 Mage's mana is absurdly abnormal, they absolutely won't be able to hold on for more than a few minutes!’
“Time... is on my side after all,” Alastor let out a low, sinister laugh, watching Lynn squander his mana recklessly with zero concern for conservation.
And then—
‘Dammit, it's already been half an hour! How are these two still fighting?!’
Look at that Saintess—she can even find the time to cast a few large-scale AOE ice spells as support! A single one of those is supposed to drain a Tier 3 Mage completely, alright?
Little did he know, Veronica was currently thinking—
“Ugh... too much... I... I can't take it anymore...”
Her face was flushed red, and her beautiful eyes cast a glaring look at Lynn.
This jerk! Just what on earth is going on?!
Ever since the barrier magic was established and their mana began to share, it was like a valve had been opened. A sea of immense mana joyfully surged in from Lynn's end.
She inspected her own mana reserve. Her lake-sized mana source would instantly deplete by half upon releasing a large spell, but in the very next breath, mana far exceeding her maximum capacity would flood in.
“I'm... I'm going to burst!!”
With no other choice, Veronica could only grit her teeth and continuously unleash super moves—ones that consumed half a mana bar and looked incredibly foolish in Alastor's eyes—just to barely keep up with the supply speed of Lynn's mana feedback.
The gold trait: 【Favor of the Sinfire Witch】 once again demonstrated its unfathomable possibilities.
In gaming terms, the current Lynn was a super toxic boss whose mana bar was denser than a barcode, and who fully regenerated his mana with every breath.
Just like that, another half hour passed...
Alastor, who had been repeating 'persistence is victory' like a mantra in his heart, finally lost his composure.
‘Dammit, how am I supposed to fight when the opponent is literally hacking?!’
‘The kid grabbed the opportunity to burn half of my avatars with that strange flame, making them impossible to restore.’
‘If this continues, I'm really going to be ground to death by this kid!’
He cursed inwardly.
He had no choice; the compatibility between Alastor and Lynn was simply too terrible.
A war-of-attrition player like him running into a sticky pest who wasn't afraid of consumption at all and could even chip away at your maximum health bar bit by bit—there really was nothing he could do.
“...I must admit, you two are far more troublesome than I imagined.”
“However... let this utterly boring playing-house game come to an end.”
Alastor, resurrected once again, abruptly gathered all of his avatars back.
“I originally didn't want to use this thing. But I have no choice now.”
Wincing at the cost, he pulled out a potion bottle and drank it in one gulp.
Accompanied by screeching wails, the remaining forty-odd avatars collapsed simultaneously, as if slammed flat from directly above by an invisible hand. A dense sound of shattering bones rang out.
Flesh and black mist twisted together like cloth thrown into a meat grinder, frantically swirling, squeezing, and blending around Alastor's main body.
A mountain of flesh rose.
Starting as a blurry bulge, like some sort of clay being shaped, it continuously piled upward, growing taller and wider.
Dozens of distorted faces were embedded in the squirming torso, sometimes swallowed inside, sometimes surfacing, like the last gasps of drowning men struggling repeatedly.
“Boom—!!”
The mountain of flesh opened its crevice, letting out a dull roar loud enough to shatter eardrums.
The tiles of the magnificent cathedral were blown apart by the roar, revealing the snow-covered ground beneath.
The sound waves swept in all directions, carrying a foul, hot wind. A layer of snow was ripped away, exposing the grayish-brown frozen soil.
The entire ice field trembled.
“You bastard, do you think growing bigger is going to help you?” The eager Saintess waved her hand, high-spirited.
“Go, my knight!”
The only response she received was the whistling cold wind.
The pure white knight had already taken two steps back with a serious face, shielding Veronica in front of him.
Her stiff shoulders were patted.
Lynn said with a straight face, “Hey, shorty. We should run.”
“Eh, eh, eh, eh...?!”
