A giant eagle with a wingspan of a hundred meters let out a deafening screech and charged toward the Saint-tiers, followed by three other flying magical beasts!
Below, a Saint-tier fanged wild boar as tall as a small hill ground its front hooves and charged fiercely, with over a dozen Saint-tier magical beasts following closely behind.
Most of these Saint-tier magical beasts were at One-star or Two-star Saint-tier, while the wild boar and the giant eagle had reached Three-star Saint-tier!
With over twenty Saint-tier combatants revealed in the beast tide so far, they completely overwhelmed the coalition of four nations in both quantity and quality. It was no wonder they had needed to call for help.
“Hold them back!” Leona barked.
They needed to block and delay these Saint-tier magical beasts until the majority of the beast tide entered the flood's impact zone. Once they did, they would open the floodgates and submerge the myriad beasts!
A fierce clash erupted instantly.
Facing over twenty Saint-tier magical beasts, the thirty-eight Saint-tiers showed no fear and charged head-on.
Though their physical bodies could not compare to those of the magical beasts, humans held the advantage in powerful magic, high damage output, and superior mobility. They could easily use kiting tactics or coordinate with one another to stall for time.
Leona was even more ferocious. With a surge of mana, she blasted forward at several times the speed of sound, crashing straight toward the Three-star Saint-tier giant eagle.
The giant eagle was startled. Sensing extreme danger, it let out a screech as walls of wind condensed in front of it to block Leona's advance.
However, Leona's figure was like a cannonball, instantly tearing through the wind walls.
Her body seemed minuscule compared to the hundred-meter wingspan of the giant eagle. Yet, the moment her fist connected with its body, the world rumbled and the air exploded. The giant eagle buckled violently, flying backward as it spewed blood from its beak!
A single strike had heavily injured a Three-star Saint-tier magical beast, nearly punching it to death!
Seeing this, the other three flying magical beasts immediately closed in from three sides. Meanwhile, the heavily injured giant eagle recovered slightly under the healing of a Saint-tier giant deer. Glaring with savage eyes, it charged once more!
As the Saint-tiers clashed, Zhang Ye and the others on the ground had the task of retreating beyond the range of the Saint-tier battle's collateral damage and doing everything they could to slow down the advancing beast tide.
At this moment, Zhang Ye was unleashing his full power. After a brief recovery, hundreds of magic circles continuously opened around him. Spells rained down upon the beast horde as if they cost nothing. In the area he was responsible for, not a single magical beast could even reach the bank of the frozen river!
The crowd from the All Souls Magic Academy watched this scene in utter shock, finally understanding why his title was the Magic Cannon...
The mages of the four-nation coalition couldn't help but gulp at the sight, thinking to themselves, The experts of the All Souls Magic Academy are just too monstrous...
But the others didn't just stand idle. Spurred on by Zhang Ye, everyone unleashed their full power. For a time, the advance of the beast tide was significantly slowed.
However, the main army was still in the rear, and they only had a few thousand mages here facing a beast tide of a million!
If everyone possessed firepower as fierce as Zhang Ye's, they could definitely hold back the beast tide. But that was impossible. Their strengths were uneven, and relying on Zhang Ye and a few others alone could not stall the entire battlefront.
Soon, due to a lack of firepower on the flanks, some magical beasts began entering the water.
At this rate, the beast tide would be able to cross the river from two directions in less than ten minutes!
To make matters worse, swarms of flying magical beasts in the sky launched attacks at Zhang Ye and the others, multiplying the pressure on them.
“Screeech!!!” A panicked screech suddenly echoed from the sky. Leona clenched her hands, condensing two massive flaming lion claws that grabbed the wings of the Three-star Saint-tier giant eagle.
The giant eagle struggled in terror, but it was useless. Leona's strength was far too overwhelming.
In the next moment, Leona let out a roar.
“Die for me!!!”
Riiip... The sound of tearing flesh rang out. The giant eagle's wings were ripped clean off, its internal organs visible through the massive wounds.
With a tragic shriek, the giant eagle plummeted from the sky. Leona pressed her advantage, slamming a lion claw onto its head. Red and white splattered everywhere as the giant eagle died on the spot!
But she wasn't done yet. Having just slain a Saint-tier magical beast, Leona's eyes flashed with a savage light as flames burned within them!
Her lips curled into a stunning, wicked smile. In a flash, she appeared behind another Saint-tier magical beast. Her giant flaming lion claw stabbed forward, piercing straight through its chest before the flames violently erupted!
In an instant, she had slain two Saint-tier magical beasts in rapid succession!
Everyone watching this scene could not help but marvel at Leona's strength.
Suddenly, a Saint-tier magical beast quietly appeared behind Leona!
This flying magical beast clearly specialized in stealth and agility. Its beak was like a spear. After concealing its form, it snuck behind Leona and launched a sudden ambush!
Everyone gasped!
If it succeeded, even someone as powerful as Leona would be injured!
However, Leona had clearly already noticed it.
A look of disdain flashed in her eyes. She had experienced such petty tricks countless times before.
The very fact that she was alive meant that all the magical beasts that had tried to ambush her were dead!
But just as she was about to turn around and deal with it, a thick pillar of lightning suddenly shot across several li, striking the flying magical beast dead-on!
The magical beast was blasted sideways by the beam of light, its wings charred pitch-black!
To be able to injure a One-star Saint-tier... Who was it?
Leona followed the trace of mana left by the light and saw Zhang Ye. His face was slightly pale, but he still smiled at her.
Yes, he had been keeping an eye on Leona. The moment his Saint-tier-equivalent perception detected the beast's attempted ambush, he reacted immediately.
Even though he knew Leona didn't actually need his help, he did it anyway.
He just wanted Leona to know.
I am fighting by your side!
Leona felt it. Her heart was enveloped in warmth, and the wicked smile on her face softened.
Maintaining that gentle smile, she tore the Saint-tier magical beast into shreds.
Of the twenty-plus magical beasts, six were already dead, three of which had been slain by Leona, and she was about to crush a fourth.
Such losses were undoubtedly devastating to the beast tide.
Meanwhile, casualties had also begun to appear on the human side.
Two Saint-tiers from the four-nation coalition were struck in their vital points and died on the spot.
Humans simply did not possess the immense vitality and physical strength of magical beasts. This was especially true for mages. When fighting a magical beast of the same tier, a single hit from the opponent could easily result in severe injury or even death!
This was humanity's inherent disadvantage.
Fortunately, they knew how to cooperate to surround and kill the beasts, which kept the magical beasts' losses far more severe.
By now, the beast tide along the entire riverbank had broken through in almost every area except the one Zhang Ye and his group defended. With the magical beasts entering the water to cross the river, it was pointless for Zhang Ye's group to keep holding out alone.
Thus, after killing her fourth magical beast, Leona immediately gave the order.
“Everyone below Saint-tier, retreat!”
Hearing this, Zhang Ye and the others knew it was time to release the floodwaters. They immediately stopped bombarding the beast tide and retreated at high speed.
Meanwhile, Leona raised her hand, condensing a massive blue fireball. Its fierce heat caused the beast tide below to grow restless, and the wind from the spell whipped her red hair wildly, making it look like dancing red flames.
In the next moment, she waved her hand, and the fireball shot out.
But contrary to what the magical beasts expected, the fireball did not fly toward the horde, but off into the distance.
Did she miss?
How could she!
Leona's target was the mountaintop lake several li away!
There, the temporary dam was already on the verge of collapse.
Finally, the fireball arrived, slamming into the mountain.
The mountain crumbled and the earth shattered!
The temporary dam collapsed instantly. Driven by intense pressure, the lake water gushed out, surging down the mountain toward the frozen river below.
Like a tsunami, it carried boulders and soil swept up along the way, its destructive force growing increasingly terrifying!
The power of the deluge steadily accumulated. In less than three minutes, it would reach the frozen river and submerge the beast tide!
The beast tide also sensed the danger and began to fall into chaos, their survival instincts driving them to flee as quickly as possible.
The Saint-tier magical beasts also realized what a devastating catastrophe this terrifying flash flood would bring to the beast tide!
They immediately tried to rely on their own strength to block the floodwaters.
However, the human Saint-tiers were no pushovers, and this was where their true purpose came into play.
They only needed to pin down the Saint-tier magical beasts, preventing them from concentrating their power to resist the flash flood. If they did, the beast tide would inevitably be swallowed by the waters!
Soon, the roaring flash flood arrived.
Even after traveling several li, the waves were still over ten meters high when they reached the beast tide. The water, coming from the snowy mountains, carried a bone-chilling cold. Mixed within it were massive boulders rolled along by the current, slamming into the beast tide like high-speed heavy trucks.
In an instant, there were heavy casualties!!!
