A cold smirk curled on Yue Shi’s lips. His fingers slid like a venomous snake, tightly gripping the plain-looking man’s pinky and ring finger.
A split second later, his wrist snapped with thunderous force.
Crack!
The sharp sound of bone snapping exploded in the air.
“Agh—!”
The plain-looking man’s heart-wrenching scream followed, echoing through the room. His pinky and ring fingers were twisted into grotesque angles. Pain swept through his body like a tidal wave, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead. He could barely remain standing.
Yue Shi pressed his advantage, delivering a brutal knife-hand strike to the man’s throat.
With a muffled thud, the man’s throat took a heavy hit. Blood surged from the corners of his mouth as he coughed violently, spraying a fine mist of red.
Yue Shi didn't stop. Still gripping the man’s fist, he gave a violent yank while simultaneously driving his foot into the man’s lower leg.
With another sickening crack, the man’s leg bent at a bizarre angle. He collapsed to his knees, his face a mask of pure agony.
Yue Shi’s movements were fluid and seamless. He hooked one leg around the man’s arm and pressed down hard with his thigh—
The arm instantly deformed. Before the man could even scream again, Yue Shi delivered a kick squarely to his chest.
The man’s ribs were already broken, and this kick caused his chest to cave in further. Then, Yue Shi drove his knee into the man’s face.
Bang!
The man’s head snapped back. His nose bridge collapsed, and blood mixed with several teeth sprayed from his mouth. He slumped to the floor, completely incapacitated.
The entire sequence of the beating, from start to finish, had taken less than ten seconds.
Yue Shi stood there, looking down coldly at the dying man. He was somewhat surprised by his own speed.
The martial arts granted to him by that ██ short sword were even more dominant than he had imagined!
As for this plain-looking man, Yue Shi felt he was a bit too weak. He even began to doubt if the man had truly been sent by the Glory Association.
The Glory Association was backed by the Su family. Any member they recruited should have been reasonably capable.
This amateur was even worse than the one-eyed man he had encountered before.
Yue Shi felt like he had overprepared and made a mountain out of a molehill.
However, on second thought, perhaps it was simply the gap between them. Yue Shi’s actual strength far exceeded the man’s expectations. If any other transcendent had been treated this way, they would have likely been captured long ago.
The plain-looking man was beaten beyond recognition, yet he didn't beg for mercy. Instead, he struggled to voice a threat.
“You’re finished... I’m going to... chop off your hands and feet later!”
“I’ll crush every bone in your body, inch by inch!”
“You’re dead!”
This surprised Yue Shi. The man’s throat had been crushed, yet he could still speak. Was he some kind of tough guy with an incredibly resilient mind?
Given the pathetic state the man was in, Yue Shi couldn't fathom where he got the confidence to think he could retaliate.
Right then, a sudden change occurred!
The plain-looking man suddenly smirked. His only remaining intact arm lashed out like a whip, snapping toward Yue Shi’s ankle.
Yue Shi dodged with immense agility, then raised his foot to stomp on the man’s wrist. Just as he was about to crush the wrist bone, a massive force surged up through the sole of his shoe and straight to his skull.
He was nearly flipped over by the force. He stumbled back repeatedly, only coming to a stop when he hit the wall.
At the same time, the man on the floor was undergoing a terrifying transformation.
His body began to twitch, and his bones let out ear-grating cracks as if being forcefully stretched by an invisible power. The muscles beneath his skin writhed like living creatures and expanded rapidly.
His originally normal frame became exceptionally burly in an instant, his muscles bulging and brimming with power.
His face was changing too. Veins throbbed on his forehead, his eyes bulged, and his pupils shrank to the size of pinpricks, glowing with a sinister red light. His mouth protruded slightly, his teeth sharpened, and his lips pulled back into an unnatural, savage grin.
Then, the man performed a carp leap and bounced off the floor. All the injuries he had sustained healed during this bizarre transformation. His height shot up to over two meters, nearly reaching the ceiling.
His breathing was heavy and ragged. Every step he took made the floorboards groan under his weight. He seemed to have turned into a creature specifically bred for combat.
Watching this freakish transformation, Yue Shi’s expression turned grave. He blurted out, “Is that a Potential Potion?”
Hearing the words Potential Potion, the muscular monster that the man had become paused for a moment. Then, it lunged at Yue Shi with a violent roar.
Yue Shi dodged the strike with an expressionless face, his mind racing. Potential Potion—just like the bleeding heart type of mental contamination, this was intelligence Ling Xun had shared with him at the Investigation Bureau yesterday.
The appearance of this muscular monster perfectly matched the characteristics of someone who had used a Potential Potion.
Did this mean that contraband like the Potential Potion was also linked to the Su family?
The possibility was high. The Su family looked glamorous on the surface, but their private dealings were as dark as could be. It wouldn't be surprising at all if they were connected to the bleeding heart incidents or the Potential Potion.
The muscular monster’s speed and strength had been greatly enhanced, but its intelligence had been severely diminished. It was not only irritable but also suffered from a significant drop in judgment.
Yue Shi felt no pressure. He curved his fingers into claws and swung a palm strike.
The monster’s instincts were remarkably fast. It leaned its upper body back, and Yue Shi’s palm swept past its face, his sharp fingertips missing its skin by less than a centimeter.
Yue Shi’s other claw followed immediately.
The muscular monster curled its body into a ball, causing Yue Shi’s strike to hit the wall instead.
The wall shattered, five deep finger marks gouged into it.
The white surface of the wall began to change before their eyes. First, it yellowed like an old photograph, its vibrant color fading into a sickly dullness.
Then, the texture became loose, the surface peeling away. Fragments hissed as they fell to the floor, revealing the dark gray concrete beneath.
The once-hard wall now looked like rotten meat, as if eroded by time. This decay continued to spread slowly before finally coming to a halt.
The muscular monster witnessed the change in the wall and couldn't imagine what would have happened if Yue Shi’s Decaying Talons had landed on him.
