Yue Shi immediately held the meatball up in front of him, using it as a shield.
A chain happened to whip across, piercing right through it.
The meatball convulsed violently a few times and then went still. The chains pulled out of the meatball, bringing a spurt of blood with them.
The meatball slid off and fell to the ground, rolling twice before it was completely finished.
‘He died just like that?’
Yue Shi felt a bit of disdain; the Reincarnator's true form was unexpectedly frail.
Who taught him to modify his body into this hideous state?
The culprit was dead, but before he could breathe a sigh of relief, Yue Shi noticed that the chains showed no sign of stopping.
Taking down that Reincarnator hadn't stopped the chains from attacking him.
The chains grew more numerous, sealing off every direction.
Yue Shi stood in the center of the encirclement, considering his options.
What should he do?
The current situation hadn't reached a desperate point for him yet; at worst, he could go back to the past and modify history.
However, the time and space on the Bewitching Beauty Painting Workshop were extremely chaotic. He wasn't sure if his time-based spells would be affected.
Thousands of chains wove into a dense net, closing in on him.
There was no time to consider further. Yue Shi immediately activated the spell: Time Reversal.
At the exact moment he traveled through time, the world suddenly shattered!
This paradise-like world was collapsing. The sky and earth turned into dust, and the chains crumbled into countless fragments in the destruction.
The fragments swirled and gathered erratically, forming one vortex after another. Large and small, they were packed densely together, as if someone had carved countless doors into the void.
He couldn't see what was behind the doors. There was only darkness and a certain indescribable, strange aura.
Yue Shi was sucked into a nearby vortex.
...
Upon entering the vortex, time and space lost their meaning, and turbulence was everywhere.
Bizarre images flashed past him like a fast-forwarded movie—frame by frame, the content was indiscernible, leaving only blurred colors.
Yue Shi held the snow leopard in front of him as he drifted through the turbulence.
He didn't know how much time had passed, but he finally saw light.
It was the sky and white clouds.
Sunlight leaked through the gaps in the clouds, spreading warmly across the ground.
Modern buildings could be seen in the distance, and the smell of car exhaust filled the air.
Yue Shi stood in place, stunned for a few seconds.
He looked down at himself. his clothes were in tatters, having nearly been shredded by the turbulence in the vortex, which would have left him streaking.
His top had basically turned into strips of cloth, and his pants were torn, exposing the skin of his waist and abdomen.
The snow leopard poked its head out from his arms and looked around.
“Did I transmigrate again?” Yue Shi narrowed his eyes and surveyed his surroundings.
Every room on the Bewitching Beauty Painting Workshop was a world. It was possible he had simply broken the previous ‘room’ and fallen into another.
Should this even count as transmigration?
【Ahhh, that long-haired extra over there is so handsome!】
【Is he a new character? With looks like that, he can't be cannon fodder, right?】
【I love this battle-damaged style beauty, but he's wearing too much. His clothes are already in tatters anyway, he should just show a bit more! What is there that a distinguished VIP can't see!】
【That waist, that collarbone, that jawline... I'm dead—】
【Wait a minute, what's that fluffy thing in his arms? So cute.】
【A handsome guy and a kitty—it's a double crit. I'm dead.】
Massive characters drifted slowly across the sky. Yue Shi was dumbfounded as he looked up at the lines of text.
He blinked, but the words were still there.
He closed his eyes and opened them again. The words remained, and a few new lines had been added.
【Can he see the bullet screen? He looked this way! He looked this way!】
【How is that even possible?】
【Then why is he staring over here?】
【Maybe he's just spacing out. That's how battle-damaged beauties are when they've just woken up.】
Yue Shi's mouth twitched. He seriously doubted if he was seeing things.
How could a bullet screen appear in the sky? Had the turbulence in the vortex scrambled his brain and caused hallucinations?
He raised a hand to rub his eyes and looked again. The bullet screen was still there, and even more comments were appearing.
【Rubbing his eyes is so cute too.】
【Please, give us an extreme close-up! It's a waste of those looks if you don't film him right in the face.】
【Holy crap, look, it's pink!!!】
Yue Shi silently used the snow leopard to cover his chest.
“Are you alright?” The ghost floated out from a button on Yue Shi's collar.
While Yue Shi was fighting earlier, he hadn't dared to speak for fear of distracting him, so he had stayed quiet as a mere accessory.
Now that it seemed safe, he finally dared to show himself. As soon as he emerged, he saw Yue Shi in tatters, looking dazed as he stared at the sky in a stupor.
In the ghost's memory, Yue Shi had always been powerful and wicked. To think he would have a day like this?
The ghost laughed inwardly while simultaneously feeling a rare touch of emotion.
Yue Shi had gone to all the trouble of chasing after the Bewitching Beauty Painting Workshop and finding the true boss of the Deep Blue Route just to ask how to cure the addiction to that sponge material.
Ultimately, it was all for him.
However, he also knew that given Yue Shi's terrible personality, there was a high probability he was just looking for any excuse to cause destruction.
Thus, that bit of emotion was fleeting. As soon as the ghost spoke, he was snarky: “I've never seen you looking so pathetic...”
Yue Shi didn't hear the ghost's words. His body began to sway, and then he toppled over to the side.
The ghost froze. “Are you actually hurt?”
The snow leopard jumped out of Yue Shi's arms, sniffed him, and then opened its large mouth to bite Yue Shi's hair, dragging him with all its might.
Well... face-first.
Yue Shi's face made intimate contact with the ground, leaving a long trail behind.
The ghost hissed through his teeth. Yue Shi usually treated this snow leopard quite well, didn't he? It got the best food and drink, and he even hugged it while sleeping.
And yet, this snow leopard was taking the opportunity to use Yue Shi's face to mop the floor!
Was it intentional, or just an accident?
He opened his mouth to say something, but then swallowed the words.
Forget it. Yue Shi was thick-skinned anyway; he probably wouldn't die.
...
Yue Shi struggled to open his eyes.
Above him was a white ceiling, the light tubes were humming, the smell of disinfectant was strong, and people were talking nearby.
“Doctor, he's awake.”
A youthful voice spoke, sounding clearly relieved.
Yue Shi turned his head. He saw a high schooler of about sixteen or seventeen standing by the bed, shouting toward the door: “Doctor, come quickly, he's awake.”
A doctor in a white coat walked in, holding a small flashlight.
He walked to the bedside, peeled back Yue Shi's eyelids to shine the light, told him to open his mouth to check his tongue, and used a stethoscope to listen to his chest. Finally, he hung the stethoscope back around his neck.
“Nothing major. Just physical exhaustion. He'll be fine after some rest.”
A look of doubt appeared on the high schooler's face. Was such a perfunctory examination for real?
Could this guy be a fake doctor who escaped from a mental hospital?
“Is he really okay? He looks like he was badly injured to me.” The high schooler's gaze fell on Yue Shi's clothes, which were shredded into strips.
“Are you the doctor, or am I?” the doctor snapped back.
