Yue Shi walked down a relatively quiet street.
“Hey,” the Ghost suddenly spoke.
“That talent scout from earlier seems to have done something.”
Yue Shi didn’t stop walking. “What?”
“A marker,” the Ghost said.
“He pulled out a small device and pressed a button in your direction.”
“I tracked the signal and found it to be a type of positioning marker. It’s not very sophisticated, but it works.”
Yue Shi’s expression turned playful. “He certainly has some nerve.”
The Ghost chuckled. “Big guts, indeed~”
Of all the people to mess with, he just had to run into a great demon.
He might as well wait for his entire lineage to be wiped out.
Yue Shi continued forward with a leisurely pace.
He could feel the malice radiating from that talent scout.
It was a greedy, covetous malice, the kind that came from someone determined to get what they wanted. At the moment the man had turned to leave, it had become so intense it almost felt physical.
Though he wasn’t sure where this malice came from...
When it came to being wicked, who could outdo Yue Shi himself?
Rather than being attacked and then finding a way to counter, he preferred to take the initiative.
“Then let’s go take a look.”
Yue Shi stopped and looked into the distance at a skyscraper glowing with blue light.
The building was very tall, and a holographic sign was embedded in its exterior wall. The words “Singing Star Media” shifted colors continuously in the night.
He withdrew his gaze and looked at another building beside him.
The exterior of that building was covered in a glass curtain wall, reflecting the street.
Yue Shi stepped toward that building.
In the next second, his figure vanished from the spot.
When he reappeared, he was already standing on the exterior wall of that building.
To be precise, he was standing within the reflection of the glass curtain wall, utilizing Mirror Shifting.
Then, another Mirror Shifting.
The snow leopard crouched on his shoulder, long accustomed to this method of travel, looking a bit drowsy.
After several shifts, Yue Shi was standing on the roof of the building opposite the Singing Star Media building.
He looked down at the structure, performed one last leap, and his figure merged into the glass curtain wall of the opposite skyscraper. Then, he stepped out from the reflection and stood in an internal corridor of Singing Star Media.
...
The interior of Singing Star Media was similar to other media companies Yue Shi had seen.
On both sides of the corridor were cubicles. Although it was already past working hours, many people were still working.
Young employees leaned over their computers, fingers flying across keyboards. Their eyes were vacant and their faces calm; the words they typed were repeatedly deleted and then retyped.
Yue Shi watched for a few seconds.
Diagnosis confirmed: this person was slacking off, merely pretending to work hard.
There were also those truly working, clutching phones and speaking in urgent tones, seemingly communicating with a client.
The air carried the aroma of coffee, along with the faint, distinctive scent of synthetic materials.
As Yue Shi walked down the corridor, not a single person looked up at him; they all ignored his presence.
He passed through the open office area and reached a relatively quiet corner.
There were several independent offices here, with various titles posted on the doors: Artistic Director, Content Director, Legal Department, Finance Office...
At the very end was a door with a plaque that read “President’s Office.”
The door was made of frosted glass, with light shining through from inside.
Yue Shi stood before the door. A voice drifted out; the person inside was on the phone.
He reached out, his fingertips touching the door panel.
In the next second, he appeared inside the room.
The President’s Office was extremely spacious, comparable to a suite in a star-rated hotel.
One entire wall was a floor-to-ceiling window, and a massive desk sat in the center of the room, covered with computers and documents.
Besides that, there was an independent bathroom, candles, a heart-shaped bed, silver handcuffs, white socks, and hollow little balls...
He really didn’t know why such strange things would appear in an office. Yue Shi was a pure-hearted young boy, after all; he didn’t understand~
A middle-aged man stood by the window, holding a phone.
He kept himself in decent shape, and his hair was meticulously combed, though he had a noticeable Mediterranean balding pattern.
“Yes, I’ve already confirmed it with that side. Same old rules. For the opening ceremony performance, our company will provide two artists, one male and one female.”
He paused, listening to the response from the other end.
“Mhm, mhm, I know. There are quite a few delegations coming this time; the ones I’m bringing out are all top-grade goods.”
“The newly signed female star has been on a vegan diet for over half a year as requested. The male has also had surgery; his physique hasn’t lost its shape yet, and his image is excellent.”
He listened for a few more moments and nodded.
“Don’t worry, this Cultural Exchange Festival is Avenia’s biggest event this year. I definitely won’t drop the ball.”
“Everything that needs to be arranged on my end is ready. Good, good, then that’s it. Let’s chat more when we meet.”
He hung up the phone and turned around, only to freeze on the spot.
There was an extra person in the office.
A long-haired man, holding a snow leopard, was standing in front of the bookshelf, examining a trophy with great interest as if he were the master of the room.
“You...” The middle-aged man’s terrified voice caught in his throat.
The door was closed, and he hadn’t heard it open.
How did this person get in?
Yue Shi put the trophy down and turned his head to look at the dumbfounded man.
“Pardon the intrusion.”
