Chapter 340 · Volume 1

Kill Them!

Yue Shi hadn't been caught by the fishhooks; he had skillfully evaded their pursuit.
However, the entire world had been destroyed, dissolving into a state of chaos.
The gambling table itself had been overturned, rendering the wins and losses of the gamblers meaningless.
Facing the empty void of chaos, Yue Shi eventually had no choice but to leave through that vortex of his own accord.
He then arrived in this place and saw that book.
After grasping the true nature of the 005 Book of Creation, even Yue Shi was slightly taken aback.
Good things in this world always seemed to be destined for him~
He watched the words on the pages gradually fade and vanish, quickly scanning the content.
The protagonist of the world in the book was someone else, a person struggling and making a name for himself in some remote city. He hadn't even grown to his full potential yet; Yue Shi had never even heard of him.
In the book, the name "Yue Shi" did not exist. Such a character had never appeared.
Even the background lore didn't mention this major fugitive.
This fact made Yue Shi raise an eyebrow, but he quickly put it out of his mind.
There was no need to dwell on things he couldn't understand; he never engaged in useless internal conflict.
Ignoring the Book of Creation, Yue Shi began to wander around, gathering information.
This didn't seem like a legitimate official organization.
Yue Shi was soon discovered.
He happened upon several patrolling armed personnel in an auxiliary corridor.
Initially, their attitude was somewhat friendly. They solemnly informed him that he was a derived abnormal entity from 005 and needed to undergo evaluation and cooperate with management. Once cleared, he could enjoy basic human rights and so on.
Yue Shi listened quietly, wearing a deceptively kind smile in cooperation.
Then, the instant they relaxed their guard, he struck.
In a single second, the armed personnel were completely wiped out.
"Babbling nonsense."
Yue Shi shook his hand. He didn't believe a single word they said.
The reason was simple. He had come out of the book, and he knew exactly what kind of world that book depicted.
When he emerged, he had clearly seen the contents within.
The researchers here surely knew the social environment of the world in the book better than Yue Shi did.
It was a world where the strong devoured the weak, where morality was decayed, and where murder and arson were the norm.
The transcendents in the book were essentially all blood-stained villains.
Even official organizations like the Investigation Bureau were crawling with maggots.
No matter how much the people in the book looked like normal humans from the real world on the outside, having grown up in such a vile environment, they were bound to be beasts.
Yue Shi could only imagine one fate that real-world researchers would have for such beasts—people in the book who weren't even considered human.
They would be used as experimental materials, abnormal biology waiting to be vivisected, studied, controlled, and, if necessary, neutralized and cleared.
Therefore, Yue Shi didn't hesitate to kill. He had never even considered peaceful coexistence.
He intended to kill everyone here to silence them.
This organization possessed devices called "reality stability anchors" that could effectively suppress the mystical, forcibly restore physical laws, and eliminate supernatural phenomena.
However, there was a limit to what these devices could do, and Yue Shi clearly exceeded that limit.
Although many of his abilities were affected, it didn't hinder Yue Shi from efficiently killing and causing indiscriminate destruction to his surroundings.
The shrill alarms, the flashing red lights, explosions, screams, and the sounds of containment breaches from even more containment units—all of it intertwined into the music Yue Shi loved most.
He simply enjoyed causing destruction.
Passing through the temporary containment area, he casually destroyed the reality stability anchors there.
The temporary containment area was full of familiar faces. After greeting them harmoniously and friendly, Yue Shi offered no further explanation and continued forward, leaving chaos in his wake.
He believed these old foxes would know what to do.
And they certainly did.
After a brief moment of shock and bewilderment, the crowd that had emerged from the book together—whether they were former high-ranking officials from the headquarters or independent transcendents—made their choice amidst their returning power and their current predicament.
It was also a way to vent their negative emotions.
They didn't discuss a formal pact, yet they reached a unanimous goal in an instant, temporarily setting aside past grievances.
The Minister eventually took action as well. He didn't participate in the direct combat but instead went to deal with the most critical problem.
He had to destroy all the reality stability anchors here first!
The other former high-ranking officials were each more lethal than the last.
The reinforcement teams that rushed to the scene were turned into background characters with no presence, had their memories wiped to become idiots, or were smashed into meat pies...
The independent transcendents showed off their own skills, utilizing their most ruthless and effective killing methods.
This was a group of survivors filtered from an apocalyptic wasteland world, characters who had once stood at the pinnacle of power in their story.
When they joined forces for the sake of survival, the destructive power they unleashed was staggering.
The battle was a one-sided slaughter and didn't last very long.
This containment station had clearly not anticipated such a severe containment breach.
After all, the Minister and the others had once been those in high positions themselves; they knew exactly how many countermeasures such containment facilities would have.
The Minister prioritized destroying every measure designed to prevent a containment breach, while Yue Shi locked down the area to prevent outside communication. That was why their sweep was so smooth.
The last of the armed personnel tried to activate containment objects to fight fire with fire, but unfortunately, they were all killed by Yue Shi, who slit their throats.
The air was thick with the scent of blood.
The battle ended, and every living soul was killed.
The Minister quickly found the center of the main control corridor, standing before a flickering control panel.
His breathing was slightly hurried, but his gaze remained calm.
He scanned the surroundings, looking at his former colleagues who wore complex expressions, before finally landing his gaze on Yue Shi, who had returned to human form nearby.
Sensing the gaze, Yue Shi looked up, met his eyes, and wore a malicious expression.
There was no reconciliation between the two sides, only a default agreement based on the current situation.
The Minister looked away and took a deep breath. The power of the Authority of Oblivion quietly spread out from him as the center.
This power was no longer used for killing. Instead, it brushed over the surrounding corpses, bloodstains, traces of battle, and the surveillance equipment that had recorded their images.
He was destroying all the evidence.
Traces faded, details blurred, and the proof of their existence was erased bit by bit.
"We shouldn't stay here long."
"This organization won't be slow to react. We must disappear before their follow-up forces arrive."
The Minister spoke, his voice slightly hoarse.
He looked toward the corridor exit that had been violently breached. Outside was the landscape of this Main Reality.
The Minister's gaze swept over the crowd.
"Our top priority is to gather information about this world, understand its basic rules, and the distribution of power."
"Until we know enough about this place, we must remain low-key and cautious."
The crowd nodded slowly. The relief of surviving the disaster faded, replaced by solemn expressions.
They had once been great figures in the world in the book, but here, they were just a group of undocumented residents who had just broken out of prison.
Yue Shi didn't offer any opinion on the Minister's arrangements.
But everyone knew that a temporary alliance had been established.
No matter how many conflicts they had before, after coming to this brand-new world, they were natural allies.
...
Walking out of the containment facility, the smell of blood gradually receded.
As the night wind blew, the group stepped into a pitch-black night.
The sky overhead was entirely black, without stars or a moon.
Beneath their feet was undulating sand that stretched to the edge of their vision, merging with the dark horizon.
Only the wailing wind surrounded them, kicking up fine sand.
Dead silence, vast emptiness, and a heart-wrenching sense of strangeness.
This truly wasn't their original world anymore; even the sky felt different.
"Move. Let's get out of here immediately," the Minister said in a low voice.
No one objected.
No one knew if there would be even more powerful hunters.
They were top-tier experts in their original world, but in this world, who knew what level they were at?
The group had no transportation and couldn't distinguish any specific direction.
They could only head in a direction away from the containment station, sprinting through the dunes with uneven steps.
It wasn't until the silhouette of the containment station had completely vanished that the team's speed gradually slowed, eventually stopping in a relatively sheltered sand hollow.
The crowd naturally split into different small groups.
The Minister and several former high-ranking officials from the headquarters gathered in one spot. They were a cohesive unit, close-knit and trusting of one another, and their combined strength was the most formidable.
The rest of the headquarters personnel naturally gravitated toward them.
A bit further away were several small groups of transcendents of varying sizes.
Some consisted of three to five people who were clearly old acquaintances; they sat back-to-back, warily eyeing the others.
Others were taciturn, simply staying close together to show their stance through action.
Their strengths were uneven, but to have made it out of the world in the book, they all surely possessed extraordinary qualities.
There were also lone travelers.
Yue Shi, for instance, was currently leaning against a sandy slope, looking up to observe the bizarrely pitch-black sky.
In another direction, there were several beings with obscure and difficult-to-read auras.
They essentially ignored everyone else, exuding an aura that warned others not to approach.
They were the divine ghosts from the forbidden zones.
There was a subtle tension in the air.
The alliance from the world in the book still held because the common threat had not yet been resolved.
But everyone knew in their hearts that this alliance was very fragile. Once the external pressure lessened, conflicts would immediately surface.
But for now, there were more pressing problems than internal strife.
The problem of survival.
Inside the containment station, fear and the unknown had been the main themes. Many had been high-strung and hadn't rested at all.
Now that they were temporarily out of danger and had relaxed, the fatigue from the prolonged mental strain washed over them.
Someone's stomach even let out a growl, which was exceptionally clear in the silent night, drawing a few bitter smiles.
"We need food, water, and medicine," someone spoke up.
"More importantly, we need to find human settlements—cities, towns, anywhere will do."
"We must integrate into this world as quickly as possible, obtain identities, and understand the rules."
"Integrate? With what? We don't even know what this world's currency looks like," another person countered bluntly.
Beside him, a female transcendent took off a gold chain from her neck.
"I wonder if gold has any value here."
Her voice carried uncertainty. Gold had been hard currency in their original world, but no one knew how much it would be worth in this place.
This question made the atmosphere even more solemn.
Without money, every step would be difficult.
Were they supposed to steal and rob?
They could, technically.
But this world had "reality stability anchors."
A glimpse was enough to see the whole picture. If this world had such high-tech products capable of suppressing mystical transcendents, its technology must be highly advanced.
Who knew if there were high-tech products for tracking and capturing that could find them in minutes?
For a group of "abnormal entities" who had just broken out of prison, drawing outside attention was no different from suicide.
"What about direction?" someone broke the silence, asking another critical question.
"Just how big is this desert? In which direction is the nearest human settlement?"
The crowd looked at each other.
The location of the containment station had clearly been carefully chosen. This desert was truly massive; in the event of a containment breach, it wouldn't cause too much harm to human society in a short time.
They had no map, and they didn't even have a starry sky to identify their direction.
"There are too many of us," a former high-ranking official said.
"With hundreds of people, if we all pour into the same city at once, the characteristics will be too obvious. As long as the people here aren't blind, they'll be able to follow the clues and find us quickly."
"Then what should we do? Split up?" someone suggested.
"Split up? Splitting up means our strength will be more scattered. We're in an unfamiliar place; we'll die even faster. Besides, who knows what other ghost-like things are in this desert besides sand?"
"Stay here and wait for death?"
"You!"
A cacophony of arguments broke out, and the divide between the different small groups began to show.
Just then, Yue Shi spoke up with an incredibly benevolent tone.
"Directions are hard to find, and too many people are too conspicuous. I can actually temporarily solve one of those problems."
Everyone's gaze immediately turned to Yue Shi.
Yue Shi said, "I'm skilled in spatial-type abilities. I can open a temporary extra-dimensional space and put all of you inside. Wouldn't that solve the problem?"
"I'll carry the space with me, and the target will be much smaller."
"How about it? Isn't that very efficient and labor-saving?"
The atmosphere froze for two seconds.
Based on his trust in Yue Shi's character, the Minister refused almost instantly and categorically, "No need to trouble yourself. How could we possibly keep bothering you?"
His voice was steady, and anyone could hear the resolute opposition in it.
What a joke.
Enter Yue Shi's extra-dimensional space?
How was that any different from sticking one's neck under a guillotine!
Who knew if they would ever come back out once they went in!
"Yeah, yeah, we appreciate the sentiment."
"For such a small matter, we wouldn't dare trouble you."
"We'll find our own way."
Voices of agreement rose one after another from the various small groups.
They all trusted Yue Shi's character very much.
"Fine, then," Yue Shi shrugged.
They were all meat on the chopping block anyway; he would eat them all sooner or later.
The crowd discussed for a while longer with no result, and finally, they could only rest where they were.
While resting, they didn't even dare to start a fire, fearing it would attract some strange things.
Fortunately, they were all transcendents with strong physiques, so they wouldn't freeze to death from hypothermia in the desert at night.
Unfortunately, their abilities leaned toward slaughter, attack, and the supernatural; few had developed survival skills.
Yue Shi had plenty of survival supplies in his space, but anyone could guess without a second thought that he wouldn't share them with anyone else.
The crowd gradually grew quiet.
Yue Shi noticed that a little girl in a red cloak had quietly left.
Others saw it too, but no one spoke up to stop or question her.
In principle, everyone was an independent individual; anyone could do whatever they wanted without reporting in to others.
There was an even higher principle: that little girl was the master of the forbidden zone 【Fairytale Town】, Little Red Riding Hood. No one dared to talk to her.
