Investigation Bureau headquarters.
During the lunch break, several investigators were chatting and resting in the breakroom.
Every one of them seemed on edge, lowering their voices as they spoke, acting as if they were up to something shady.
Suddenly, someone outside whispered urgently, "The Devil Elder is here! Everyone hide! Don't let her catch you!"
Their faces paled, and they scattered instantly.
Some rushed into the restrooms, some crawled under desks, and some even jumped out the windows.
A moment later, footsteps echoed down the hallway.
A woman wearing a hood, her eyes glowing with a faint yellow light, passed by the breakroom.
Seeing everyone avoiding her like the plague, she let out a helpless sigh.
Pain. It truly was too painful.
Why were there so many smart people at headquarters? They had actually managed to figure out her ability!
Word had spread like wildfire. Now, the entire Bureau knew she was a fujoshi.
However, the version they had guessed was already outdated.
After her Rank 5 advancement, her ability had been officially renamed to the 【God of Shipping】.
"Hmph, you figured out my ability and dared to make that intel public?"
"Making it public is one thing, but running away the moment you see me? Am I really that terrifying!"
"Just you wait. I'll crack-fic every single one of you into pampered baby-wives!"
As she grumbled, a figure caught her eye out of the corner of her vision.
It was an ordinary-looking man in his thirties who had just walked in from outside, only to run head-first into the devil.
"Elder, hello..." The man trembled as he greeted her, immediately trying to walk past at a brisk pace.
"Oh, what a little cutie."
"Don't be in such a hurry to leave. Let this elder give you a little magical makeover~"
The Shipper giggled, the yellow light in her eyes intensifying.
She was constantly activating her ability, the 「Shipper's Eye」.
With a single glance, she could see a target's family lines, friendship lines, marriage lines, love lines, sexual orientation, fetishes, who they had slept with, how many times they had done it...
This man before her was clearly playing hard to get, intentionally appearing before her to receive her transformation~
"Elder, please no! I'm straight!"
The man screamed as he backed away.
The Shipper pressed forward step by step. "Heehee, straight is fine. First, take my 「Orientation Correction Punch」!"
"Aaaaaargh!!!"
Hearing the man's blood-curdling scream, those hiding in the restrooms or under desks all trembled with fear.
This elder's 「Orientation Correction Punch」 was enough to strike terror into anyone's heart!
With one light punch, your orientation would be reversed!
Simply terrifying!
‘Better him than us. Since he's the sacrifice today, she won't come after us for now.’
"Now, take my 「Fan-fiction Makeover Kick」!" The elder's voice grew increasingly excited.
No matter what the target originally looked like, after her "fan-fiction" treatment, they would turn into various types of stunning beauties.
The man's screams gradually turned into whimpering sobs.
After finishing her combo, the elder finally clapped her hands in satisfaction and walked away.
She left behind a flower-boy-like man collapsed on the floor, weeping softly.
Once the elder was far away, the beautiful man immediately stood up. There wasn't a single tear on his face, and he couldn't help but smirk.
‘Hahahaha! I turned straight without even needing therapy!’
‘Now I never have to work so hard to pretend to be straight ever again!’
‘It was totally worth looking for a chance to run into that elder. I even got a free plastic surgery out of it.’
The beautiful man's good mood lasted until the afternoon work hours began.
His colleagues in the office all looked at him with bizarre expressions.
At first, he didn't quite understand why, but soon, a cold realization struck him!
Crap! I only thought about the benefits and forgot the downsides!
Before, he was a gay man pretending to be straight, so everyone thought he was straight.
Now, he had been "corrected" by the elder in public. In reality, he was now straight, but everyone thought he had been turned gay.
And no matter how he explained it, no one would ever believe he was a straight man!
Female colleagues would treat him like one of the girls, and male colleagues...
‘It's over, it's all over. How did things end up looking even worse?’
...
Elsewhere, in the Historical Library.
"I hate riddlers," Yue Shi said coldly.
"What do you mean, 'guidance of fate'?"
"That kind of talk sounds like a total scam."
The Faceless Man shook his head hurriedly and explained.
"Fate truly did tell me that at this very moment, in this library, I would encounter the hope that would allow us to escape this cage forever."
Yue Shi wasn't about to be fooled by such vague rhetoric and asked a pointed question.
"Who exactly told you this conclusion?"
"What specifically does 'fate' refer to?"
"Your supernatural power? Your intuition? A dream you had? Or some supernatural object?"
The Faceless Man fell silent. He had never expected Yue Shi to be so persistent and thorough in his questioning.
This guy was not easy to trick.
Seeing Yue Shi's expression growing increasingly menacing, the Faceless Man had no choice but to tell the truth.
He pulled a book from his robes.
It was a leather-bound book that looked quite aged, its color a deep, dull black.
There was a large silver infinity symbol (∞) on the cover, with several chains wrapped around it.
"It's the content displayed on the 【Book of Fated Prophecies】. It said that today, in the Historical Library instance, I would meet the person who can truly liberate us."
Yue Shi's eyes lit up. "A prophecy book? A supernatural object? Now that's a good thing~"
This item is destined for me!
The Faceless Man immediately recognized Yue Shi's greedy look, and his heart filled with unease.
This guy didn't look like a good person at all. Could he really help them escape?
"Let me have a look at that prophecy book." Yue Shi reached out, his tone forceful.
"It's the 'Book of Fated Prophecies'," the Faceless Man emphasized, but he didn't hand the book over.
He knew full well that once he gave the book away, he would definitely never get it back.
"This thing is very dangerous."
"Although it can make prophecies, it only predicts the result, not the process."
"Your future originally had countless possibilities, but once it is prophesied by this book, only one possibility remains."
"The future will collapse toward the direction it prophesies until the prophecy comes true."
The Faceless Man tried to use the book's danger to discourage Yue Shi's greed.
"Heh~" Yue Shi smiled, suddenly putting on an air of righteousness.
"I didn't expect this thing to be so sinister. Carrying such a dangerous item must be so hard on you."
"Don't worry, I've always been kind and merciful. I would never just stand by and watch someone suffer."
"I will take this burden upon myself from now on!"
"Hand it over. It's For Your Own Good~"
