The heavy blast door was like modeling clay in Yue Shi's hands, easily kneaded and reshaped.
It twisted and deformed in a way that defied the laws of physics until it was completely ruined.
Cold air and blinding lights rushed toward him.
The world hidden behind the door—a subterranean space far larger than imagined—revealed itself before Yue Shi's eyes.
It didn't look like a laboratory; it looked more like a highly efficient military base.
Beneath the towering dome were pure white walls, with lights exposing every inch and corner.
Staff members wore uniform white uniforms with ID badges hanging from their chests.
They hurried about, some carrying documents, others pushing small carts loaded with various materials, sealed biological samples, or even unactivated weapons, moving through the intersecting corridors.
According to previously obtained intelligence, Lab 0 was an onion-like structure, with layers wrapped within layers.
Yue Shi's current location was merely the outermost entrance inspection area, still far from the core of the laboratory.
Different functional zones of the laboratory were partitioned by transparent reinforced glass rooms.
Some were filled with control consoles, with countless split screens showing every corner of the base; this appeared to be the monitoring and dispatch center, responsible for controlling critical facilities like the blast doors and ventilation systems.
Every staff member wore a peculiar device that flickered with a faint blue light, its purpose unknown.
This familiar sight was etched into his bones and soul.
Yue Shi's heart began to beat violently, uncontrollably.
It wasn't fear or nervousness, but excitement and exhilaration.
The hatred he had suppressed for so long could finally be released!
It was these white uniforms, these cold cages!
Back then, he had been locked in this laboratory like a rat waiting for vivisection, enduring unimaginable agony.
Those researchers had performed various experiments on him with total indifference, attempting to study his soul and using every possible means to interrogate him about his origins and the knowledge he possessed.
In truth, Yue Shi was very afraid of pain.
Fortunately, his consciousness could escape into his mysterious space, sparing him from having to endure the pain every single moment.
This was his greatest secret; no matter what torture he endured, he never revealed a single shred of it.
Once the existence of his cheat was exposed, only more cruel research would await him.
Snapping back to the present, Yue Shi saw researchers appearing in traditional white lab coats.
The scent of disinfectant and certain biological agents seemed to linger on them.
These people were the ones who wielded the knives in biological experiments.
The atmosphere within the base was tense and busy. Clearly, the commotion he caused by breaking through the tunnel entrance had already triggered an alarm.
A muffled warning blared over the intercom.
Strangely, although these workers were hurried, there was little panic on their faces; their responses were standardized and professional.
Were they that confident?
Did they truly believe that no one could easily shake this fortress buried deep underground?
Yue Shi and Ghost remained in a hidden state. Everywhere they passed, space rapidly distorted as the Labyrinth quietly spread.
The atmosphere of orderly chaos did not last long.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Sudden gunshots rang out, sharp and piercing.
The original rhythm of work within the base was shattered.
This was followed by the short, shrill screams of humans facing death.
Although the base itself wasn't quiet, the combination of gunshots and screams was too loud, piercing everyone's eardrums like the shriek of a wild pheasant.
The previously orderly crowd instantly erupted into chaos. Security personnel scattered throughout the area reacted quickly, drawing their sidearms and looking toward the source of the sound, assembling and closing in with disciplined efficiency.
The screams and gunshots soon stopped.
But what followed was a sound far more bone-chilling.
Crack, crack, crack.
It was the sound of bones being forcibly twisted and snapped inch by inch, of blood splashing, and of internal organs hitting the floor. The sound echoed through the space, its source impossible to pin down.
After a moment, a corpse was tossed out.
The body appeared out of thin air, wearing a researcher's uniform, and slammed heavily onto the smooth floor.
The corpse was distorted beyond recognition, essentially a bloody lump of dough that had been brutally kneaded by immense force.
The scalp had been ripped off, and both eyeballs had fallen from their sockets, dangling by thin strands of flesh. The tongue was pulled out long, and the torso was eviscerated. It was a gruesome sight.
The gathering security personnel were startled, but they quickly regained their composure.
In this giant laboratory, corpses even more horrific than this were common; they were long since used to it.
The security guards nervously aimed their guns in all directions, but they couldn't find a single trace of the enemy.
By now, Yue Shi's gaze had locked onto a control room at the edge of this level.
Through the glass wall, he saw a man who looked like a supervisor quickly giving instructions to an operator at a console. Then, the man turned and grabbed the door handle, preparing to leave.
The supervisor had just opened the heavy bulletproof door when he heard the commotion outside and the dull thud of the corpse hitting the floor.
His expression changed, and his first instinct was to slam the door shut again.
Boom!
A massive, invisible force slammed into the door.
The heavy bulletproof door was hit as if by a battering ram, flying inward and smashing hard into the supervisor's chest.
Pfft! the supervisor spat out a mouthful of blood. His body flew back like a broken kite, crashing into the equipment inside the control room with a series of clatters and bangs.
Several guards inside the control room, despite hearing the noise outside, remained at their posts, strictly following their duties.
However, their expressions became extremely alert, their muzzles all pointing toward the doorway.
Unfortunately, their vigilance was meaningless.
In the next second, something like a gust of wind swept past.
The guards didn't even have a chance to pull their triggers before their throats were crushed. The wounds quickly turned black and rotted, and they collapsed to the floor, twitching in agony until they died.
Yue Shi stepped into the control room and swung his hand back, slamming the distorted bulletproof door shut with a loud clang, temporarily isolating the room from the outside.
The moment he entered, he willed the Labyrinth to sweep over and envelop the room.
The internal space was twisted and folded. The operators at the consoles and the groaning supervisor on the floor all discovered to their horror that they were trapped by a strange power. Their companions and the exit, which were just inches away, suddenly became unreachable.
“Who's there?”
“You dare cause trouble here! Do you have any idea where you are?”
“Spare me, I don't know anything! I'm just an ordinary person, I just work here...”
The remaining living people in the control room were pale with fright. Some made blustering threats, while others begged for mercy through tears and snot.
Yue Shi was deaf to all the noise.
In his eyes, these so-called “ordinary people” were no different from the cruel executioners of the past.
He would not, and could not, feel the slightest bit of mercy.
Yue Shi was capable of killing truly kind and innocent people just because he was in a bad mood, let alone those associated with Lab 0.
He wouldn't just kill them; he would kill their entire families!
“He's all yours, Ghost,” Yue Shi said with a cruel, mocking smile.
“Happy to oblige.” Ghost understood Yue Shi's intent and was eager to act; he harbored an intense hatred for everyone here.
The plush teddy bear took a short sword from its pocket and turned into an executioner, lunging at the people trapped in the spatial Labyrinth.
Blades flashed, accompanied by short screams and the dull thud of sharp steel entering flesh.
With the experience of a martial arts master, Ghost knew exactly how to make a person feel the maximum amount of pain.
Faced with absolute power, these operators, who lacked any direct combat ability, were completely defenseless.
Soon, only the supervisor remained alive in the control room, his chest caved in as he coughed up blood continuously.
Looking at the blood and body parts scattered across the floor, Yue Shi felt a surge of intense excitement.
This long-lost pleasure intoxicated him.
A thrill more violent than an orgasm flowed through his veins.
Perhaps he was born a bad seed, or perhaps his soul had been completely twisted after enduring inhumane torture.
When people are in extreme fear, that fear can be transformed into anger.
Yue Shi's mind seemed frozen in a similar state; all his desires—whether for food, sex, knowledge, or power—were more or less converted into bloodlust in the end.
He loved torturing others; he loved the sight of blood and brain matter flying everywhere; he wanted to fall asleep to the sound of humans wailing before their agonizing deaths.
When his strength was insufficient, he could barely manage to put on the act of a good person.
Now that his power had expanded, his desire for villainous slaughter expanded with it, and he no longer had any interest in acting.
The sweet taste of revenge was truly beginning to manifest.
Since Ghost had abandoned his human body and become a permanent information lifeform, he hadn't felt such strong emotional fluctuations for a long time.
But at this moment, he felt as if he were experiencing a “racing heart” again, a “boiling of blood” simulated by his data stream.
Destruction and slaughter brought him unprecedented pleasure.
Yue Shi walked up to the dying supervisor, lifted him with one hand, and gripped his throat.
Meanwhile, outside the control room, a greater chaos was unfolding.
All the security and research personnel on this floor were facing another nightmare.
Countless pitch-black ravens surged out from the shadows, their wings flapping as they occupied almost the entire level.
They screeched and dove down, attacking every living thing with their sharp beaks and claws.
A single raven's attack power wasn't strong, but there were simply too many of them.
They weren't living creatures but shadow creations; even if they suffered a fatal blow, they would merely disperse, only to reform from the shadows shortly after.
The ravens specifically targeted vulnerable areas like eyes and throats. Just now, a researcher had been howling as he clutched his face, blood seeping through his fingers because his eyeballs had been pecked out.
The flock of ravens created constant turmoil, and everyone on this laboratory floor was being continuously harmed.
Worse, they realized that despite the time that had passed, no rescue had arrived.
They tried to flee, but were met with a different kind of despair.
No matter which direction they ran, they would inexplicably end up back at their starting point, as if trapped in an eternal nightmare loop.
With no reinforcements and no way out, they could only be slowly consumed by the ravens in this hopeless spatial Labyrinth, their flesh pecked away bit by bit as they moved toward death in pain and terror.
Inside the control room, Yue Shi gripped the supervisor's neck, hypnotizing him and asking directly, “Which buttons control the opening of the containment rooms for the experimental subjects?”
The supervisor's eyes became vacant as he answered subconsciously, “The top row of the third console... that row of green buttons.”
“Did you hear that?” Yue Shi glanced at Ghost.
“Understood!” The plush teddy bear immediately scurried to Console 3 and pressed every green button in the top row in sequence.
Instantly, the images on the split screens of the main monitoring monitor changed.
The metal doors of the small, cold containment rooms began to slide open, accompanied by the sound of releasing airlocks.
Some corridor doors connecting to the outer layers also unlocked and opened simultaneously.
On the surveillance screens, the captured experimental subjects reacted differently.
Due to long-term torture, the will of most subjects had been crushed, leaving them numb and dull. They huddled in corners, showing no reaction to the open doors.
The previous escape incident had caused significant losses. Since then, Lab 0's control over experimental subjects had become even more stringent.
Many subjects had their limbs amputated shortly after capture, leaving them unable to move. Even if the doors were open, they were powerless to escape.
However, there were exceptions.
In one surveillance frame, an experimental subject in the form of a limbless stump saw the door open, and a staggering desire for survival erupted in his eyes.
He could control his hair; his long black hair grew wildly, acting like tough and flexible tentacles that propped up his body, allowing him to quickly scurry out of the containment room and flee.
Yue Shi didn't care how far this person could run or how long he could live; as long as he could create chaos, it was enough.
Lab 0 had previously appeared composed and confident, as if everything were under control.
But now, with the internal containment system failing, they finally seemed to fall into true panic.
The alarm over the intercom became sharper and more urgent, and the distant sounds of chaotic running and shouting could be heard.
The smell of blood in the air and the chaotic images flashing on the monitors only served to stimulate Yue Shi's nerves.
He subconsciously licked his dry lips, the desire for destruction and the sense of excitement in his heart growing hotter.
“Yue Shi, look at this screen. There's something unexpected,” Ghost said, controlling the plush teddy bear and pointing to one of the monitors.
Yue Shi looked over and saw a fiery figure burning bright red, flashing across the screen at extreme speed.
Everywhere it passed, equipment was violently destroyed and metal walls melted, leaving charred marks behind.
Clearly, this person was also frantically sabotaging the laboratory.
“This person isn't any of the subjects who just escaped from the containment rooms. Could it be... that guy?” Ghost added.
Yue Shi simply waved his hand dismissively, his gaze returning to the outside of the control room, where the spatial Labyrinth had turned into a chaotic purgatory.
“It doesn't matter,” he said, his voice calm and indifferent. “If that little fire man is here to destroy this place, he's just saving me some effort. If he isn't, I'll just clean him up along with everything else.”
