Chapter 212 · Volume 1

Doomsday Arrives

Yue Shi and Xin Yanzheng remained at a standstill for a long time.
Deep within Xin Yanzheng's eyes, a faint, non-human deep blue luster began to emerge.
Beneath his skin, scale-like patterns flickered in and out of view before quickly vanishing.
Xin Yanzheng could feel the discomfort in his body, but he thought it was normal; Rank 3 transcendents faced the risk of losing control, and things would only stabilize at Rank 4.
A vast aura spread from within him as he unleashed his power.
"Not enough, still not enough!" Yue Shi mocked while attacking.
"Actually, your mother and sister were good people. I was just deliberately slandering them earlier so I could excuse my own villainy~"
"The thing bad people love most is slinging mud at their victims. How can you not understand such a simple truth?"
Xin Yanzheng froze for a moment. Failing to liquefy his body in time, Yue Shi seized the opportunity and left deep gashes on him.
The decaying curse spread rapidly. Xin Yanzheng couldn't help but cry out in pain; his body turned into liquid, shedding the cursed parts.
The progress of the divine erosion was climbing at an alarming rate!
"What exactly is real? What is fake!?" Xin Yanzheng roared in question. "Is there not a single word of truth in your mouth?"
"If that's what you think, then I have nothing to say in my defense." Compared to Xin Yanzheng's emotional turbulence, Yue Shi appeared utterly nonchalant.
"I just love lying. And yet, don't you fall for it every single time? The extermination of your clan didn't help you grow at all. The people who raised you all these years really went through a lot of trouble for nothing."
"Aaaah!" Xin Yanzheng howled in agony. More and more seawater poured out, yet it couldn't fill this extra-dimensional space.
Yue Shi was secretly venting the excess water.
Finally, as Xin Yanzheng exhausted all his stamina and attempted to manipulate the drowning seawater to consume Yue Shi, the mutation occurred!
His body suddenly stiffened, all movement ceasing. The expressions of madness and pain on his face froze, turning hollow and indifferent as the human emotions in his pupils flickered out.
"Ugh... hhh..." Meaningless gurgles escaped his throat as his body trembled violently.
Then, Xin Yanzheng's physical body shattered from within, inch by inch, like glass pushed to its limit.
There was no spray of blood, nor the crisp sound of breaking bones.
His body transformed into a pale blue liquid flowing with a mysterious, eerie glow.
This liquid seemed to possess a life of its own, swirling and gathering rapidly to form a blue vortex radiating a terrifying aura.
The vortex continued to expand. Its center seemed to connect to some unspeakable deep-sea dimension, emitting low, chaotic hums.
Yue Shi had already deactivated the Painted Realm's extra-dimensional space a second ago.
In the real world, within the devastated area of the Chijing City Investigation Bureau building, a massive vortex emitting an ominous glow appeared!
Rumble!
Like a dam bursting, endless seawater, carrying a bone-chilling cold, surged frantically from the vortex!
The current smashed through walls and flooded corridors, spreading toward the city outside with unstoppable force.
Yue Shi immediately assumed his Transcendent Form. The four-winged demon bird crashed through a window and soared into the sky. The golden vertical pupil at the center of his brow worked at full capacity, anticipating the future by one second to perfectly dodge the columns of water erupting toward him from below.
The blue vortex continued to grow. The seawater pouring out was no longer ordinary water; it possessed a viscous, shimmering, supernatural texture.
At the center of the vortex, the blue gradually deepened, resembling a giant eye made of seawater slowly opening in the abyss, gazing upon the world it was about to submerge.
The four-winged demon bird flapped its wings and flew toward the southwest, leaving the apocalyptic chaos behind.
Meanwhile, amidst the urban jungle of towering skyscrapers, an intense display of "parkour" was unfolding.
The tattered doll possessed by the Ghost was leaping and climbing across windowsills, air conditioning units, and billboards with an agility that completely defied its appearance, also heading southwest.
Tucked inside the doll's belly were several supernatural objects. Although Yue Shi seemingly didn't want them anymore, the Ghost intended to bring them back.
Occasionally, a citizen would catch a glimpse of the sprinting doll and let out an incredulous gasp, but the doll paid them no mind.
Long before Yue Shi had dragged Xin Yanzheng into the extra-dimensional space, the Ghost had received instructions to control this doll and set off in advance.
He didn't understand why Yue Shi had made him arrange the corpses of those investigators into sinister poses.
Nor did he understand why Yue Shi had made him hum that strange melody.
And he certainly didn't understand why Yue Shi had ordered him to immediately possess the doll and flee toward the southwest after finishing it all.
Until now.
From the direction of the Investigation Bureau behind him, an indescribable sense of great terror erupted!
Even as an information lifeform, he could clearly feel that vast aura expanding at high speed.
The Ghost didn't know what Yue Shi had done; he only knew that this city was finished!
The doll's movements became increasingly frantic and panicked. He didn't feel sympathy for the city on the brink of destruction—after all, he had long since lost the luxury of "compassion."
He was worried about himself!
Yue Shi had definitely left, and it seemed he hadn't planned on bringing his tool along at all!
The Ghost even suspected that Yue Shi might be taking the opportunity to abandon him.
How could that be allowed?
He had to catch up!
He had to catch up no matter what!
The forced parental relationship brought by 【Feedback】 wasn't enough to make the Ghost so unwilling to leave his "mother."
The greater reason was that Yue Shi was powerful enough to be admired, and ruthless enough to be feared.
Staying by the side of such a powerful man with a terrible personality gave the Ghost a morbid sense of security and belonging.
Just as the Ghost was fleeing in control of the doll, the apocalypse officially arrived in Chijing City.
What poured out from the Investigation Bureau wasn't ordinary seawater, but a supernatural liquid filled with an unspeakable aura.
They seemed to possess life and will, devouring streets and submerging low-lying buildings at an incredible speed.
People screamed and wailed, fleeing toward high-rise buildings; rooftops became their sanctuaries.
Many huddled together, shivering as they watched the rising azure seawater with eyes full of terror.
But the disaster was far more than just seawater.
Along with the strange seawater, the supernatural creatures that dwelled in the ocean surged into the city!
A giant, translucent jellyfish actually left the water and floated above the streets, the tentacles beneath its bell emitting a hazy, iridescent light. Those struck by the light would break into obsessed, foolish grins before jumping from the skyscrapers into the water below, vanishing without a trace.
A supernatural creature resembling an anglerfish poked its head above the surface. The "lantern" atop its head was an eyeball flickering with a warm, orange-yellow light.
The orange light caused those nearby to hallucinate, believing they saw a lighthouse from a rescue team.
They shouted and threw themselves into the water, swimming desperately toward the orange glow. Then, the moment they drew near, they were swallowed by the anglerfish's suddenly gaping maw.
There were also aggregations of the drowned, composed of rotting seaweed and tangled human limbs, swimming through the water to drag in those who fell, making them part of the collective mass.
"Where's the Investigation Bureau? Where the hell are they!?"
"Someone save me..."
"Damn it, we pay so much in taxes, yet they're useless when it actually matters!"
Survivors gathered on high ground, complaining, cursing, and questioning, venting their fear while clutching onto a final sliver of hope, praying the Investigation Bureau would turn the tide.
Unfortunately, they didn't know that the elite of the Chijing City Investigation Bureau had long since been wiped out by Yue Shi.
There would be no rescue.
This prosperous industrial giant was now being slowly dragged into the abyss of despair.
