“You were the ones who abducted me while I was deathly ill! You're breeding supernatural creatures here and tried to force me to join you. When I refused, you locked me in this hellhole as experimental fodder!”
Zeng San looked pained at Jiang Cifei's accusations. “You can't put it like that. You were already reduced to selling yourself at a host club. If our people hadn't ‘happened’ to pass by and bring you back for treatment, you would've been violated to death and had your corpse sold by the pound. That debt of gratitude isn't fake, is it?”
“Shut up!” Jiang Cifei snapped, seemingly stung into a rage. He didn't want to waste more words. He tightened his grip on Dr. Luo's throat, his voice cold. “Cut the crap and let me go right now! Or I'll kill her!”
Dr. Luo's breathing was cut off, her face flushing red as she shot a desperate look at Zeng San for help.
Zeng San signaled for her to stay calm, then turned to Jiang Cifei. “I can let you go, but first, you have to help me find the rat that snuck in. I don't know how he's hiding, but I sealed the exits to keep him from slipping away in the chaos. If I let you go now, he'll definitely escape with you!”
Jiang Cifei sneered inwardly. He was eighty percent sure his escape was thanks to the mysterious intruder who was causing the chaos. He didn't believe a word Zeng San said; he would much rather cooperate with the intruder. On the surface, however, he nodded as if in agreement.
As they spoke, short screams continued to ring out from time to time. More imprisoned supernatural creatures were dying mysteriously; some died so silently they didn't even have time to let out a final wail.
Zeng San's face was grim, but he didn't truly lose his temper. Most of the supernatural creatures in this dungeon were consumables anyway; their deaths weren't a significant loss.
The only one truly valuable was that four-headed, multi-limbed Stitched Abomination.
The deformed guards had already gathered around the Stitched Abomination's cell under Zeng San's direction, forming a tight perimeter to protect it.
That monster remained unharmed. Zeng San's mind raced with theories—how was this invisible killer slaying the supernatural creatures inside their cells?
“How do you want to catch him?” Jiang Cifei's eyes darted around, scanning the surroundings.
Dr. Luo was secretly gathering her strength, her fists clenched. If she saw even the slightest opening, she would counterattack immediately.
Unfortunately, Jiang Cifei was extremely vigilant. His grip on her throat was steady and powerful, leaving her no room to move.
Just as Zeng San was about to speak, a lethal sense of crisis surged in his heart without warning!
His body reacted faster than his brain. Instinctively, he dove forward and rolled. At the same time, a sharp, high-pitched note—like an operatic aria—erupted from his throat, instantly condensing into an invisible barrier around him.
However, this sonic barrier lasted for less than half a second before it shattered and dissipated silently.
Yue Shi, standing invisible behind Zeng San, clicked his tongue in regret. This old man's reaction speed was remarkably fast.
Zeng San scrambled to his feet, trembling. He thought he had just heard someone whisper the word “Death” right in his ear.
Yue Shi flickered like a ghost to the side of a conjoined mutant holding a gun. He poured Raven's Secret Whispers directly into the guard's ear: “Fire. Kill him!”
The conjoined mutant's expression turned dazed. Without hesitation, he aimed his gun at Zeng San and pulled the trigger.
“Bang!”
A gunshot rang out, hitting Zeng San in the back. The impact knocked him off balance, and he stumbled forward.
“Bang! Bang!”
Two more shots followed. The other deformed guards nearby reacted instantly, turning their weapons and precisely blowing off both of the conjoined mutant's heads.
Looking at Zeng San, the bullet had torn a hole in his clothes, and his exposed skin was bloodied, but he hadn't sustained a life-threatening injury.
A hint of ruthlessness flashed in Zeng San's eyes. Enduring the sharp pain, he lunged toward the wall and slammed an inconspicuous switch.
Jiang Cifei was momentarily stunned by the sudden turn of events. That split second of hesitation was all Dr. Luo needed.
She twisted her waist with sudden force, executing a clean shoulder throw. Her immense strength sent Jiang Cifei flying, slamming him hard onto the ground!
“Fire!” Dr. Luo shrieked.
The surrounding deformed guards didn't hesitate. Several muzzles spat fire simultaneously, sending a hail of bullets toward the fallen Jiang Cifei.
But Jiang Cifei's reaction wasn't slow either. He swung his palm forward, and a gale rose from the floor. Countless sharp, invisible wind blades swirled rapidly in front of him.
“Clang clang clang!” The bullets struck the wind blades, sparks flying as they were all deflected to the floor.
The deformed guards gasped. The power of a transcendent was clearly far beyond what modified humans like them could match.
Just then, a dull-looking deformed guard suddenly pulled an old-fashioned grenade from his waist. With a vacant smile, he yanked the pin and threw it toward Jiang Cifei.
“You idiot!” the other guards screamed in terror.
Jiang Cifei's pupils shrank. In a flash, instead of retreating, he reached out toward the incoming grenade. His wind blades instantly altered the grenade's trajectory, hurling it toward a nearby cell holding a giant, scorpion-like creature!
“Boom!!!”
A massive explosion!
Flames and shockwaves swept through the area. The various instruments used to restrain the supernatural creatures were destroyed. The scorpion-like creature let out an excited hiss, frantically battering its damaged cage.
The blast knocked everyone standing to the ground.
Jiang Cifei had used his wind to offset some of the impact. Thanks to his transcendent physique, he was the first to recover after the explosion.
Then, without a word, he charged at the dazed guards. He snatched a pistol from one guard's waist with lightning speed and aimed it at the head of the man next to him.
“Bang!”
A precise headshot.
Immediately after, a gale rose around Jiang Cifei again. Countless wind blades spun and sliced with lethal speed, slaughtering all the deformed guards within seconds.
The dust settled. Zeng San struggled to push himself up, opening his mouth as if to sing and activate his supernatural power.
“Bang!” Jiang Cifei fired, hitting Zeng San in the chest. Zeng San's body stiffened, and he slumped to the ground.
“Bang!” The muzzle turned, and another shot precisely hit Dr. Luo as she tried to crawl up. Her body jerked violently before she collapsed into a pool of blood.
After finishing all this, Jiang Cifei felt a wave of dizziness. Having been imprisoned, his body was weak, and this sudden burst of power had nearly drained him of all his strength.
He panted heavily, his grip on the gun nearly failing him.
Yue Shi, still invisible, watched from the side with admiration. He had always thought Jiang Cifei was just a carefree slacker, but he hadn't expected the man to be so ruthless and decisive in a crisis, reversing the situation the moment he saw an opening.
