The orb: “...”
That made sense.
She cast another Calming Curse on herself before opening the livestream's bullet comments. The moment she did, the screen erupted with a flurry of activity.
【Hey, Lady Witch, long time no see~】
【What do you mean long time no see? We've never met, okay?】
【Lady Witch is so amazing! She actually chose this sketchy inn. Isn't she afraid of dying here?】
【By the way, where did Lady Witch get those gold coins? Currency in dungeons is really hard to earn, especially gold coins in fairy tale dungeons. Those are the highest denomination.】
【No idea, all I know is that Lady Witch is super awesome!!!】
Cen Yao leaned against the bedpost. Seeing this, she couldn't help but smile faintly.
“You all call me Lady Witch, so where else could the gold coins have come from?”
The comments paused for a brief moment, then began scrolling even faster.
【Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Lady Witch replied to me!!!】
【What does that mean? Did the streamer really conjure those gold coins with magic?】
【Keep dreaming. Only an idiot like the person above would believe that. How could she possibly conjure gold coins? If she could, the dungeon would have fallen into chaos long ago.】
【They're definitely fake gold coins.】
【But if they're fake, how could the NPC not notice?】
【NPCs aren't omnipotent. Some top players have fooled NPCs with counterfeit money before. It's totally normal not to get caught.】
【But this is a fairy tale dungeon. The rules for gold coins in fairy tale dungeons are extremely strict.】
【By the way, that NPC looks really familiar. I feel like I've seen her somewhere before.】
【Oh come on, there are so many dungeons and NPCs in this game. It's normal for them to reuse models.】
【No, what I mean is...】
【I feel like this dungeon isn't simple. This is the first time I've seen the Rapunzel dungeon have such a massive map.】
【Me too! I've wanted to say this for a while, but my comments kept getting buried. Isn't the streamer's spawn point a bit off?】
【It seems fine? In the past, the Witch in the Rapunzel dungeon always spawned in the high tower. It's just that none of the players who got the Witch role ever made it out of the tower alive.】
【I think it's weird too. Not just this dungeon, but that shopkeeper NPC and this inn are both super weird.】
【That's exactly how it should be. If it weren't weird, would it even be a dungeon?】
Cen Yao quietly watched the comments, not missing a single piece of information they provided.
This Rapunzel dungeon might be even more unusual than she had imagined.
The map was too large.
The spawn point was seemingly abnormal.
The inn NPC felt familiar to veteran players.
None of these were minor details that could be easily ignored.
She chatted idly with the comments for a bit longer, roughly confirming some common knowledge from the players' perspective.
For instance, currency in fairy tale dungeons was extremely difficult to obtain.
For instance, inn-type locations usually had rules.
And for instance, soundproofed rooms generally reduced the probability of being discovered by monsters at night, though they were also more expensive.
As she chatted, Cen Yao suddenly felt an uncomfortable emptiness in her stomach.
She glanced at the time.
It was nine in the evening.
She had barely eaten anything since entering the dungeon.
No wonder she was hungry.
Cen Yao closed the comments and patted her stomach.
There should be food downstairs.
But whether the food in a dungeon inn was edible was a question worth serious consideration.
For now, she had no desire to test the Horror Game's culinary skills with her own stomach.
Cen Yao after some thought, raised her hand and drew a one-way summoning array on the floor.
The silver-white runes of the array slowly unfolded.
This summoning array could only summon items she had previously marked.
While studying magic, she would occasionally leave the space to mark small items, then return to the space to summon them as practice.
However, the success rate had been low because reality and the System's space were not in the same dimension, making cross-dimensional summoning much more difficult.
This time, she wanted to see if summoning inside a dungeon would be easier than doing so from the space.
Subconsciously, she believed the System's space was of a much higher level than the dungeon.
Cen Yao closed her eyes and focused intently on picturing it in her mind.
Fried chicken, cola, french fries.
And preferably hot.
The summoning array flashed with light.
In the next second, a steaming bag of fried chicken, a cup of ice-cold cola with a straw, and a large box of french fries appeared neatly in the center of the array.
Cen Yao opened her eyes.
She looked at the food on the floor, a flicker of genuine shock crossing her eyes.
It actually succeeded.
And so easily!
Old Horror, it seems you really, really are much weaker than my little orb!
The orb fell silent too.
A few seconds later, it spoke up in a faint voice, “Host.”
Cen Yao: “Hmm?”
The orb: “Do you know why you succeeded in a cross-dimensional summoning on your first try?”
Cen Yao reached down to pick up the fried chicken, her voice very soft.
“Isn't it because I've gotten used to harder problems, so when I encounter an easy one, I succeed instantly?”
The orb choked. “While that's part of the reason... it's actually mostly because your willpower during the summoning just now was far more resolute than usual.”
Cen Yao: “...”
Fine, whatever you say.
She took a bite of the fried chicken.
The skin was crispy, and the meat was hot and juicy.
It was a familiar taste.
Cen Yao suddenly felt that this gloomy dungeon wasn't entirely devoid of hope.
At least tonight, she didn't have to eat whatever mysterious meat broth the Decapitated Goose Inn provided.
Just as she was about to take a sip of her cola, faint footsteps suddenly sounded outside the door.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
The sound stopped right in front of her door.
Immediately after, something pressed against the door panel and took a slow sniff.
A raspy voice, sounding like fingernails scraping against a wall, drifted through the crack under the door.
“Guest.”
“What are you eating in your room?”
