【Comprehensive Evaluation: High risk. Close monitoring and restriction recommended.】
【Reminder: The host possesses Absolute Control, ensuring they pose no threat within the domain.】
Malice Level over 90...
But what did that matter?
In this building, she called all the shots.
Su Wan glanced at the system mission interface.
【Temporary Mission: Shelter’s Disaster Resistance Proof—During the Death Tide outbreak, at least four non-host units must survive within the building.】
【Main Mission: Shelter Beginning to Take Shape—Successfully recruit five new tenants.】
“Fine,” Su Wan finally spoke, her voice calm and devoid of any discernible emotion.
“The rules are the same. Sign the contract voluntarily, pay the rent, and follow my rules.”
Upon hearing this, a flash of ecstatic joy and a deeply hidden sense of triumph erupted in the eyes of Black Rat and Viper.
As expected! This woman was just a naive fledgling with no experience—sitting on a mountain of treasure but with no sense of self-defense!
She agreed so easily!
“Good, good, good! We’ll sign! We’ll definitely follow the rules!” Black Rat nodded frantically, fearing Su Wan might change her mind.
Viper chimed in repeatedly, “Don’t worry, Boss Lady! We know the rules!”
Su Wan said no more. With a thought, two slips of contract paper glowing with white light floated out and landed in front of the two men.
Seeing this magical creation, the greed in Black Rat and Viper’s eyes intensified. Without hesitation, they pressed their dirty fingers onto the blank circles.
Hum! A white light flashed, and the contracts were established.
【Ding! Tenants +2. Current Official Tenants: 4.】
【Recording information for Tenant-003 (Black Rat) and Tenant-004 (Viper)...】
【Health Status: Mild radiation sickness, old injuries, trace amounts of toxins accumulated in the body (Viper).】
【Combat Tendency: High (Long-range crossbow/poisoning, excellent coordination).】
【Current Loyalty/Malice Level: 5/95 (Extremely dangerous, strong predatory intent, temporarily restricted by contract rules).】
【Special Reminder: These two tenants have extremely high Malice Levels and have triggered monitoring tags. The host may invoke domain authority at any time to impose restrictions or punishment.】
Almost the instant the contracts were finalized, Su Wan felt her sense of control over these two new “tenants” was far clearer than it was with Ah-Lan and her brother.
It was as if invisible shackles had been placed upon them, with the other end of the chains held firmly in her hand.
“Come in.” Su Wan stepped aside.
Black Rat and Viper couldn’t wait to rush up the stairs and squeeze through the door.
The warm, dry air made them almost moan in comfort, but they were even more attracted to the clean, intact, and bright environment.
Their eyes scanned the hallway like hooks, and greed almost overflowed when they saw the simple but complete bed, table, and chairs inside the open door of Room 104, where Ah-Hao was.
Ah-Lan took in their expressions, and alarm bells rang in her heart.
She shifted her position imperceptibly, shielding Ah-Hao more closely behind her, her other hand never leaving the hilt of her blade.
Su Wan assigned Black Rat and Viper to Room 112 at the far right of the first floor.
She had just spent 30 Points through the system to exchange for and install a Standard Security Door & Window for Room 112.
Only with doors and windows could a room be considered an enclosed space.
“On the far right, Room 112,” Su Wan said, pointing toward the end of the hallway. “The rent is five Level 1 Energy Crystal Cores per person per month.”
“Five?!” Black Rat’s voice instantly spiked, the scar on his face twisting into a particularly hideous grimace.
“Boss Lady, isn’t that price a bit too steep? How much did that brat pay?” He shot an unfriendly glance toward Room 104.
He didn’t believe for a second that a little brat like Ah-Hao could produce five Level 1 Energy Crystal Cores!
Su Wan’s expression remained unchanged, her tone flat. “You’ve already signed the contract, so you must pay the rent according to my requirements.”
Ah-Hao was the first tenant, and Su Wan hadn’t understood anything back then, which was why she had only collected three Incomplete Energy Crystal Cores as rent.
Facing these two, Su Wan had no reason to be soft-hearted.
According to the Star Coin exchange value, one Incomplete Energy Crystal Core was worth 100 Star Coins, while one Level 1 Energy Crystal Core was worth 500 Star Coins!
At 2,500 Star Coins per person per month for a shelter that could completely defend against the Death Tide, the price wasn’t expensive at all.
Black Rat and Viper were both momentarily choked for words. Recalling the magical contract from earlier, they didn’t dare act recklessly for the moment.
“Fine! You’re the boss!” Black Rat gritted out through his teeth. “Five it is! But we have to see the room first, don’t we? What if you’re giving us a doghouse?”
“Yeah, let’s see the room first!” Viper echoed, a sharp glint in his eyes.
“Fine,” Su Wan nodded.
Black Rat and Viper immediately headed toward the far right of the hallway, one in front of the other.
After only a couple of steps, they both froze almost simultaneously.
Their gaze was firmly captured by a glass door hanging a sign that read 【Convenience Store】.
They clearly saw the two rows of shelves against the wall, as well as the neatly arranged food and water on them!
Clean! Brand new! Not a single trace of contamination!
They looked even “cleaner” than the special supplies enjoyed by the big shots in the Inner City!
Black Rat’s breathing instantly grew heavy, a raspy sound coming from his throat.
Viper’s eyes bulged, the veins on the back of his hand gripping his crossbow bulging.
Food! Clean food! And water!
In the wasteland of the apocalypse, these were things that couldn’t be measured by “value” alone! These were lives!
Their greedy gazes were practically glued to the glass; they wanted nothing more than to smash the door open and claim everything for themselves.
“Move!” Black Rat growled, using every ounce of his willpower to tug at Viper, who could barely move his feet, forcing himself to keep walking.
Greed, jealousy, and ferocity fermented wildly in their chests.
The two walked quickly to the end of the first floor and found Room 112.
The brand-new, dark-grey security door was tightly shut.
Black Rat twisted the handle and pushed the door open.
As expected, it was empty.
Aside from the four walls, the rough concrete floor, and the window that provided a sense of security, there was nothing.
It was clean, but it was also chillingly lifeless.
Compared to Room 104, which at least had a bed, table, and chairs, this place was outrageously bare.
Black Rat and Viper circled the empty room, their faces turning so dark they looked like they might drip ink.
“Damn it, that bitch really treated us like beggars!” Black Rat spat fiercely.
Viper scanned the room and found no monitoring equipment.
He lowered his voice, a cold light like a venomous snake flickering in his eyes. “Rat, what do you think? This place... it’s dripping with fat!”
The scar on Black Rat’s face twitched violently twice. He also lowered his voice, his tone filled with uncontrollable excitement and ruthlessness:
“You saw the stuff in that convenience store. And this building itself... it can completely block the Death Tide! Do you know what that means?”
