Chapter 231 · Volume 1

Red Packet

Before long, Ren Yi felt himself "floating" toward a vast, white, two-dimensional area.
This plane was truly two-dimensional, possessing no thickness, only length and width. It was boundless, surrounded by flickering data streams, and possessed a terrifying silence.
Just as he began to feel lost, unsure of where to go, a grayish-white platform suddenly "rose" from beneath him.
Using the word "rose" might not have been entirely accurate, as it actually just "popped" into existence.
It appeared with incredible speed, instantly occupying the bottom third of this two-dimensional plane, looking remarkably out of place.
By now, Ren Yi was no longer in a humanoid form. Instead, he was a blob-like mass composed of countless white data streams.
He could "see" everything around him, yet he possessed no concrete physical senses.
Curiously, he "probed" the black platform below and discovered that it was made of many rectangular blocks of equal size.
Each block was white and adorned with different patterns.
Furthermore, as he "touched" them, the blocks would change from white to a deep gray.
Startled, Ren Yi quickly withdrew his "hand," and the area immediately reverted to its original color.
Nothing happened...
Ren Yi fell silent for a moment.
Why hadn't the Anomaly Web made a sound yet? Though he wasn't sure exactly how "making a sound" would manifest in this state.
To make it easy for him to understand, it would probably be through messages.
But he didn't have a phone right now.
When he arrived here, he realized that none of the items he had been carrying—including his phone and the keys—had transformed into data to enter this space with him.
Ren Yi tried to connect to the Anomaly Web directly through his consciousness, but unsurprisingly, he failed.
He couldn't help but wonder if the Anomaly Web had forgotten he couldn't receive messages and had simply abandoned him here.
Just then, he spotted a block with a completely different color.
Among the sea of white blocks, there was a single blue one. It was a size larger than the others, making it exceptionally prominent.
Subconsciously, Ren Yi "slid" over and gently "touched" the blue block.
The moment he made contact, a green, horizontal, pillar-like object suddenly appeared at the top of the remaining two-thirds of the area above the platform.
It appeared without warning, giving Ren Yi a fright.
He composed himself and "looked" closely, finding that the green pillar seemed to be covered in a jumble of disorganized symbols.
【RR】&^G8h.
Ren Yi stared blankly, trying to decipher them for a long time, but he couldn't find any meaning in the symbols.
It was a complete mess, looking like someone had just rolled their face across a keyboard.
Wait... a keyboard?
Ren Yi instantly realized where he was.
A white background, a green horizontal bar, and a platform covered in small squares.
Was this... the Anomaly Web's chat interface?
The grayish-white platform occupying the bottom third was a twenty-six-key keyboard. Those white rectangular blocks were the keys, and the large blue block was the "Send" button.
The green pillar at the top was the chat box, and the gibberish inside was the message he had accidentally "typed" just now.
It was a bit surreal.
Following his memory, Ren Yi "found" the position of the question mark on the keyboard, "pressed" it carefully, and then used the blue "Send" button to transmit the concise symbol.
【?】
He knew the Anomaly Web would definitely see this message.
Sure enough, a few seconds later, a prompt appeared at the very top of the chat interface: 【The other party is typing...】. A green cursor flickered continuously, as if someone were indeed typing.
After a few more seconds, the prompt vanished, and a white horizontal pillar—a new chat box—popped up from above. It contained only three simple words.
【Wait a moment.】
A few seconds later, another message arrived.
【Done.】
【Finished beating up the world's will over there.】
Ren Yi froze on the spot, his eyes—if he had eyes right now—bulging in shock.
He intended to reply, only to find that he wasn't quite used to this data stream state. His movements were incredibly sluggish.
Trying to type out a full sentence was practically harder than ascending to the heavens.
Why was typing so difficult after turning into a data stream? Was this even logical?
Or was his current state not entirely a program, but rather... a desktop pet?
What kind of nonsense was that? Ren Yi decisively gave up on contemplating his form of existence.
He tried to use his will to ask the Great Anomaly Web to elaborate on the process of "beating up" a world's will to satisfy his curiosity.
Unfortunately, the Anomaly Web didn't react at all, as if it hadn't received his thoughts or was intentionally ignoring his request.
Just as Ren Yi was about to laboriously shift his data stream to try and type out the phrase "Please elaborate," another message arrived from the other side, interrupting him.
【Sent you all a little compensation.】
Immediately following that, an even larger orange-red square suddenly popped up in the center of the chat interface, occupying most of the space and looking particularly eye-catching.
On the square, several white characters, significantly larger than the rest, were displayed clearly for all to see.
【Wishing you prosperity and good fortune】
Having accepted the fact that he was currently inside a massive two-dimensional chat box, it took Ren Yi only a second to guess what this was.
Thank you for the Red Packet, Great Anomaly Web!
When an orange-red message block appears before you, it is very hard to suppress the urge to click it.
Ren Yi grew excited instantly. Without hesitation, he "leaned" in and gently "clicked" the orange-red square.
Immediately, several golden data streams surged out from the Red Packet, instantly enveloping his data stream body.
In the next second, Ren Yi felt his vision blur. The surrounding data streams vanished instantly, and the two-dimensional sense of confinement disappeared.
When he came to his senses, he found himself standing once again under the shade of the Wutong Tree, still holding the four keys in the same posture as before.
Everything was exactly as it had been, as if the experience just now had been nothing but a hallucination.
No, that wasn't right.
Ren Yi looked down at the four keys in his hand and noticed several golden data streams emerging from his body, slowly flowing into the keys.
He blinked, then suddenly looked up at the bewildered group of Anomalies before him.
"Did you guys... see that just now?"
