Chapter 198 · Volume 1

【Anomaly Kill】 Bad News from the Class Monitor

"But the Anomaly in Room 7 last night entered through the door, right?" Ren Yi spoke calmly, posing a question to test the logic.
"But you just said it 'barged in,' so you didn't actually see it teleport. We can't be certain it even has that ability."
Player 2 nodded. "In my peeping perspective, it definitely forced its way in."
"However, it looked identical to the Anomaly that killed Player 4 on the first night—a blue-black body with twin blades on its arms."
Ren Yi looked at him with a strange expression. "That's a bit of a stretch. Looking the same doesn't mean you can just decide they're the same Anomaly, let alone that they have the same abilities."
"Maybe they're just different Anomalies that look alike. We can't tell the difference between one monkey and another, either, can we?"
"But you said last night that the Anomaly you encountered and poisoned was a completely different gaseous phantom."
Player 2 immediately countered, laying out the contradiction clearly. "The Anomalies that have appeared look completely different, and the numbers don't add up. It's a total contradiction."
Ren Yi sighed inwardly. Maintaining a grave expression on the surface, he stopped arguing.
Fine. Although it was a strange line of reasoning, Player 2 had caught a flaw. Forcing an explanation now would only make him look suspicious.
As he was thinking about how to smooth things over and guide the topic elsewhere, Player 2's eyes suddenly lit up.
"I've completely figured out the mechanics of these safety pods."
"Among these Anomalies, there's actually a hierarchy!"
Ren Yi looked at him blankly, raising an eyebrow and playing along with a look of curiosity, gesturing for him to continue.
"Do you remember what Player 1 said on the first day during the Leader election?" Player 2 asked, his eyes gleaming.
Ren Yi nodded, but his expression grew more confused, and he glanced at Player 2 meaningfully.
He certainly remembered. Back then, Player 1 had analyzed things for ages before bluntly telling everyone not to look for keys.
Immediately after, this Peeper, bursting with a sense of justice, had cursed him out on the spot. The scene had been incredibly awkward.
Seeing Ren Yi's knowing and slightly teasing expression, Player 2's face stiffened. He coughed twice to hide his embarrassment before adding more.
"I'm not talking about that. I mean his analysis of the room mechanics."
"He said the rooms have a certain protection mechanism. He was right about that; it's just that his conclusion was wrong and his direction was off."
"I said back then that the Anomalies and the rooms had to be divided into different levels. My theory seems to be completely correct now!"
Player 2 cleared his throat and began to deduce his theory with a dead-serious tone.
"The Anomalies in this game are definitely divided into different ranks with huge gaps in strength. I'll call them Low-level, Mid-level, and High-level Anomalies."
Ren Yi's mouth twitched violently.
What the hell is this 'Low, Mid, High' ranking? It's even more crude than the Alliance's A, B, C, D system.
Player 2 didn't notice his internal criticism and continued his serious explanation, his gaze firm.
"High-level Anomalies are the strongest. They can break into perfectly sealed rooms with keys. The one that killed Player 4 on the first night was a High-level Anomaly."
"Mid-level Anomalies are like that gaseous phantom you poisoned last night. They can only break into rooms without keys or where the airtight seal has failed. They can't force their way into a safety pod."
"Then there are the Low-level Anomalies. They're the weakest and have no way of breaking through the room's protection. They just wander around outside, basically just there to pad the count."
Class monitor, did you hear that? In his eyes, you're just there to pad the Anomaly count.
Player 2 paused for a moment to organize his thoughts. Factoring in the total number of Anomalies on the field, he reached a conclusion.
"There are four Anomalies in this game. If we follow this hierarchy, a configuration of two High-levels, one Mid-level, and one Low-level would be unbalanced; the difficulty would be too high."
"Two Low-levels, one Mid-level, and one High-level—that's the most balanced and logical distribution. it fits the game's rule settings."
Ren Yi nodded subconsciously as he listened, then snapped back to reality, marveling privately.
Although this ranking system sounded crude and absurd, and the logic wasn't exactly airtight, it actually made a strange kind of sense when he thought about it.
Perhaps the game's hidden rules really did classify Anomaly strength this way.
"So," Player 2's eyes lit up, staring at Ren Yi with absolute conviction.
"Given that, the possibility that Player 11 framed Player 12 is extremely high."
"Player 11 is an Anomaly herself. She deliberately framed a good person to confuse us. Tomorrow, we must convince everyone to vote Player 11 out."
So, Player 2 had set his sights on Zhang Qiuqiu as the next target to be eliminated.
Ren Yi pondered this silently.
At that moment, Player 2 stepped forward and gripped Ren Yi's hand tightly. His expression was solemn, as if he were entrusting his life to him, and his tone was urgent.
"Player 3, I'll likely be targeted for elimination by the Anomalies tonight. You must take my analysis out tomorrow. Let everyone see Player 11's true face so they aren't fooled by her again."
Ren Yi looked up at him calmly. "The target you chose for your peeping tonight... is Player 11?"
Player 2 nodded without hesitation, his expression resolute.
"Exactly. I need to confirm my theory, confirm her identity, and solidify the evidence that she is an Anomaly."
"My identity is exposed now. The Anomalies definitely won't let me go. There's a high probability I won't live until dawn, so I must entrust the truth I see to you. You have to carry it out."
As he finished speaking, he raised his hand and tapped the air beside him. A faint blue light flashed, and a translucent small screen appeared out of thin air, hovering before their eyes.
Ren Yi looked over. The screen clearly showed the interior of a single room. In the dim light, the person sitting peacefully on the bed was indeed Player 11, Zhang Qiuqiu. The image was clear and unobstructed.
The moment he saw the screen, Ren Yi fell completely silent and quietly connected to the Anomaly Web.
【Class monitor, don't leave your room. Don't do anything. Player 2 has used his peeping ability and is watching you right now.】
As soon as the message was sent, a reply came back instantly. But the content made Ren Yi's heart sink, sensing that something was wrong.
【Ren Yi, I have some bad news. I might not be able to leave the room today.】
Ren Yi frowned slightly and quickly typed a question mark, his mind filled with confusion.
What did she mean? He had just been worried about her leaving and being seen by Player 2, but the situation seemed to have changed.
Then, the next message arrived. The words felt heavy and sluggish, carrying a trace of undetectable exhaustion.
【The suppression on me still hasn't been lifted.】
【It feels like... I'm trapped inside this human body now.】
