Chapter 151 · Volume 1

Familiar Flowers

The fight between Dr. Lin and Dr. Zhao grew increasingly intense. The crisp sound of overturning tables and chairs mingled with the noise of angry shouting and playful banter. The jeers and cheers of the onlookers rose and fell in waves, pushing the rowdiness of the Entertainment City to a new peak.
Ren Yi stood to the side and watched for a moment, his brow furrowed slightly.
The two Anomalies seemed to have completely forgotten their identities and abilities, finding pure satisfaction in a raw, physical brawl.
However, due to the Entertainment City's "invincibility" rule, not a single bit of damage could be inflicted on either of them.
To put it bluntly, it was all for the sake of the spectacle—pure, chaotic nonsense.
He looked at the Waiter nearby, noting the slight upward curve of his lips and the amusement he couldn't quite hide in his eyes.
Yeah, he looked like he was only a hair's breadth away from rolling up his sleeves and joining the fray himself.
Ren Yi shook his head helplessly, completely abandoning any thought of stepping in to stop them.
The Entertainment City itself wasn't doing anything about it, and he alone couldn't stop two Great Anomalies anyway, so why waste the effort?
Besides, as the Waiter said, they couldn't kill each other. At most, they'd stop once they'd had their fill of trouble. There was no need to worry about any real disaster.
As the saying goes, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. This spectacle was actually quite entertaining...
Just as Ren Yi was watching with genuine interest, the Waiter beside him suddenly spoke, breaking the atmosphere with his usual gentle and professional tone.
"Mr. Ren Yi, I wonder if you would be interested in coming with me to meet someone?"
Ren Yi paused and turned his head to look at him. "Who?"
"The God of Gamblers," the Waiter replied with a smile. He paused for a beat before adding, "Furthermore, Mr. Ren Man is also there."
"My brother?" Ren Yi's eyes instantly sharpened, a flicker of confusion crossing his mind.
Because Ren Man was too "noisy" for the interior of the Entertainment City, he had previously gone with a Waiter to the lower-level Hotel Wing to rest and hadn't been with them since.
As for Ren Man's safety, Ren Yi wasn't worried.
On the contrary, he was a little worried about the safety of the Entertainment City.
He couldn't help but carefully study the Waiter before him. The man still wore a gentle expression, showing no sign of anything unusual, as if nothing had gone wrong.
"Please do not misunderstand." The Waiter's lips twitched slightly, clearly seeing through Ren Yi's thoughts. He quickly explained, "Mr. Ren Man truly just found a quiet place to rest. There have been no accidents."
"Alright." Ren Yi blinked, though his confusion didn't dissipate.
"Then why would the God of Gamblers also be in that... 'quiet place'?"
The man had just been dragged down from his pedestal. Logically, he should have been properly 'settled' by the Entertainment City. Why would he be grouped with Ren Man?
The Waiter explained, "Dr. Lin mentioned that Mr. Ren Man does not like pain and loathes clamor."
"And the place where the God of Gamblers is going is the most blissful and serene location within our Entertainment City. It is very suitable for Mr. Ren Man."
Well, at least Dr. Lin hadn't completely forgotten his responsibilities in the midst of his busy schedule.
However...
"The most blissful place?" Ren Yi repeated softly, his suspicion growing.
Instinct told him there was something off about those words.
So, was that place the conclusion brought about by 【Luck】?
But he didn't argue immediately. After all, Ren Man was there; he had to go see for himself no matter what.
"Then let's go."
The Waiter nodded slightly and made a gesture of "after you," leading Ren Yi through the noisy crowd toward a hidden corner deep within the Entertainment City.
Unlike the gold-leafed splendor and clamorous atmosphere of the outer areas, this place was exceptionally quiet.
In the corner stood a minimalist elevator. Its doors were tightly shut, and there were no markings on it, making it look completely out of place amidst the luxury of the Entertainment City.
The Waiter pressed the elevator button. With a soft chime, the doors slowly slid open to reveal an empty interior.
Ren Yi didn't overthink it and followed the Waiter inside. The doors closed, and the elevator began a smooth descent.
In the small space, only the faint hum of the elevator's operation remained. The atmosphere grew somewhat heavy for a moment.
Ren Yi didn't ask any questions, simply observing everything inside the elevator in silence.
After an unknown amount of time, the elevator finally stopped. With another soft chime, the doors slowly opened.
In the next second, a rich and sweet fragrance instantly rushed toward him, carried by a gentle breeze into his nostrils.
It was sweet but not pungent, mellow but not cloying. It possessed a soothing gentleness that seemed capable of dispelling the irritability and unease from one's very bones.
It made one subconsciously want to take a deep breath and lose themselves in it.
Ren Yi instinctively looked up and was instantly stunned by the sight before him.
Outside the elevator doors, there was no room like he had imagined, no luxurious decorations of the Entertainment City, and not even a finite indoor space. Instead, there was an endless expanse of purple flower fields and hills.
The flowers looked remarkably similar to lavender, yet they were fuller. The petals were layered in a pale purple hue, with soft pink edges.
The flowers grew very densely, one right next to another, reaching about the height of Ren Yi's waist. Their branches and leaves were so intertwined and lush that there were almost no gaps between them.
A gentle breeze blew, and the flower field rippled in waves. The purple petals swayed with the wind, dancing through the air like a gentle purple rain.
The intense fragrance accompanied the petals, rushing toward him and lingering around his nose, refusing to dissipate.
He instinctively turned back to look at the elevator behind him.
The minimalist elevator stood lonely in the center of this boundless flower field, looking completely out of place against the surrounding beauty.
It looked like an interloper that had stumbled into a fairyland, possessing an indescribable sense of solitude.
In the distance, the sky was a clear, deep blue without a single cloud. The sunlight was warm and soft, spilling over the flower field and casting a golden rim over the purple ocean.
Ren Yi thought to himself that if someone were to lie down here, they would likely be submerged by the flower field in an instant, vanishing from sight.
But as he looked at this exquisite field of flowers, Ren Yi's brow slowly furrowed. The vigilance in his eyes didn't fade; instead, it grew even more intense.
He raised his hand, and a petal happened to land on it. Ren Yi took the opportunity to observe it closely.
These flowers... he seemed to have seen them somewhere not too long ago.
