Chapter 217 · Volume 1

Burning Breath

This sudden turn of events completely exceeded Greg's expectations, leaving him momentarily unsure how to react.
In his mind, Nightmare's voice suddenly grew excited:
“Ha! I knew it! Quick, now! Whisper in her ear: Serafina is a bitch disguised as a big-breasted woman!”
“Don't forget what I told you before, don't cause trouble for me right now!” Greg shouted in his mind.
Silvia's cheeks were flushed with an inviting blush, and her pink eyes shimmered with a watery gaze, revealing an expression entirely different from her usual self—now bold and ardent.
She panted softly, her chest rising and falling with each breath, yet the weight pressing down on Greg didn't lessen in the slightest.
“I-I'm sorry, Senior Greg...”
Her voice trembled slightly, but she showed no intention of getting off him:
“But... could you please... just stay with me like this for a little while?”
With that, she slowly lowered herself, burying her head in Greg's chest.
Her cheek pressed against his chest, her nose gently brushing against the fabric of his clothes, and then she took a deep breath, as if to inhale his scent completely into her lungs, storing it in the deepest recesses of her memory.
Her breath was warm and lingering, transmitting through the thin fabric to Greg's skin, causing a subtle shiver.
During the days leading up to the Hundred Academy Exchange, Silvia had barely managed to see Greg a few times.
She had her own training to complete and her own coursework to prepare, while Greg spent his days holed up in the lab, conducting some mysterious research.
This left her to only occasionally hear updates about him from Victoria.
But what truly tormented her wasn't the loneliness of not seeing him.
It was the thought that whenever she couldn't see Greg, her good friend Victoria was able to be in the same space as him, doing the same things, researching together, discussing together, experiencing moments she couldn't be a part of.
This thought was like a seed, constantly spreading in her heart, taking root and sprouting, growing thorns named jealousy.
She knew these feelings were wrong; Victoria was her good friend, and the two of them liked each other, so she shouldn't feel jealous.
But she couldn't control herself.
The more she suppressed it, the stronger and more distorted the emotion became, ultimately transforming into this uncontrollable urge.
This long-suppressed emotion, in this moment alone with Greg, finally completely broke through the dam of reason.
“Gulp.”
Greg lay on the bed, swallowing hard as he felt the warm breath and soft touch on his chest. His mind raced, yet he still couldn't grasp an answer.
What exactly was the relationship between him and Silvia now?
To call them a couple, they had never officially defined their relationship.
But to say they were just close friends—that would be him looking down on himself.
After all, they had been through so much; she had shown her vulnerability to him, and he had protected her time and again.
That bond, transcending ordinary friendship, was undeniably real.
Just as his thoughts were in turmoil, Silvia's actions gradually grew bolder.
Her hand, which had initially rested on his chest, now began to slowly move upwards, her fingertips lightly tracing his collarbone, then touching his neck.
Her breath grew hotter, fanning against his skin and creating a tingling sensation.
Greg gradually stopped hearing Nightmare's incessant chattering in his mind.
His senses were overwhelmed by the girl's scent and warmth on his body; his heart pounded like a drum in his chest, and his body grew increasingly hot.
He could feel her fingers gently caressing the side of his neck, and her hair falling beside his cheek, creating a ticklish sensation.
“S-Senior Greg...”
Silvia suddenly lifted her head.
Her cheeks were crimson, her pink eyes hazy with a misty sheen, her gaze unfocused yet full of deep affection, staring directly into his.
Her lips were slightly parted, revealing a glimpse of her white teeth, her breath rapid and burning.
The distance between them narrowed, so close he could count her eyelashes, so close he could feel the faint tremor in her breath.
Her lips were less than a finger's breadth from his.
Just as their lips were about to meet—
“Bang!”
A muffled thud, accompanied by a cacophony of arguments, erupted from the corridor outside the cabin, dousing the simmering moment like cold water.
...
“Hey, you low-class commoner, stop wandering around the academy airship, alright? What if you accidentally break something? Can you even afford to pay for it?”
The speaker was a third-year student, dressed in a finely tailored academy uniform, her chin slightly raised as she looked down on the gray-haired girl before her.
Beside her stood two companions, also exuding the air of nobility, forming a fan shape that cornered Victoria in the hallway.
“Exactly, commoners like you should just stay in your rooms and not come out to make a spectacle of yourselves.”
Another girl chimed in, her tone dripping with undisguised contempt.
The third girl scrutinized Victoria from head to toe, then scoffed:
“I really don't know how you were chosen as a representative. Did you pull some strings or something?”
Victoria stood her ground, her gray eyes calmly observing the three.
She had originally gone to Silvia's room out of concern for her, only to find her absent.
Unable to shake off her worry, she decided to search the airship briefly, but she hadn't gone far before these three upperclassmen, whom she didn't recognize at all, cornered her.
Victoria was not one to be easily bullied. She took a deep breath, ready to retort—
“The exchange event is about to start, and yet you three are still squabbling amongst yourselves? I truly don't know how you were chosen to participate.”
A familiar voice came from the side, laced with undisguised sarcasm.
Greg walked from the other end of the corridor, a pink figure, Silvia, following beside him.
They walked side-by-side, stopping next to Victoria.
Greg's appearance immediately dampened their arrogance.
They were already annoyed because Victoria, a commoner girl far more attractive than them, was so close to the now-famous Greg.
So when Greg openly sided with her, they were somewhat disheartened.
“You guys came just in ti—”
Victoria's heart had initially brightened at their appearance, but a thought suddenly flashed through her mind.
She tilted her head slightly, her gray eyes sweeping back and forth between the two of them, then asked:
“By the way, were you two... together just now?”
Greg's steps faltered.
Silvia's eyelashes quivered slightly.
Both fell silent.
