Chapter 472 · Volume 1

This Involves Me Too?

Hierophant: “I think I'll let @Justice tell you about this, as well as the situation on the High Priestess's side.”
High Priestess: “This involves me too?”
Lovers: “It does, sister. It really does. It’s a bit much, though—I hope you two can handle it.”
Frenna's reply caused Lan Qingyou and Vivian to frown deeply.
Good heavens, she actually used the word 'handle.'
Just how big of an issue would require such a word?
Both of them believed that Frenna knew they had nerves of steel.
Yet, even knowing that, she couldn't stop herself from using that word. Something was definitely wrong.
The Tower: “Go ahead.”
High Priestess: “I'm listening.”
Righteousness: “Is this a coordinated response from you two?”
High Priestess: “Of course not.”
Justice: “Since I’ve been called out, I’ll be the one to speak.”
Justice: “It all started when you were trapped in that dungeon...”
Chu Yuan, seeing that he couldn't avoid it, recounted the events of the Abandoned War and the situation with the witches. Then, he moved on to the matter regarding Vivian.
Justice: “Half a month after the Abandoned War ended—which was about a month ago from now—a rebellion broke out in Brown.”
Justice: “The Blood-red Vampires launched a surprise raid on Brown one night. Their target was Bathory Castle.”
Justice: “At the time, Benjamin, the Clan Leader of the Blood-red Vampires, had invited the other clan leaders to discuss what to do in the High Priestess's absence.”
Justice: “Since Bathory Castle was your residence, he suggested holding the meeting there as a sign of respect.”
Justice: “But because you weren't there, the butler, Lilith, refused to let them in. She instead found a luxury hotel on the streets below the castle for them.”
Justice: “During the meeting, the Blood-red Vampires teamed up with the Green-bat Vampires to attack the castle.”
Justice: “In the end, the castle was breached and sacked by the two races. The Phantom Mist Vampires suffered heavy losses.”
While Chu Yuan was sending these messages, Lan Qingyou kept a close eye on Vivian.
Compared to her own anger, she felt Vivian was much more likely to lose control.
In her rage, Lan Qingyou tended to remain quite calm. After all, before transmigrating, she had already understood that anger was merely a display of incompetence.
But a young girl like Vivian didn't have her wealth of experience.
Sure enough.
As Chu Yuan laid out the story sentence by sentence, Vivian's body and the hand gripping her card began to tremble more and more violently.
It was clear her fury was reaching a breaking point.
Perhaps because the two hadn't replied for a while, or perhaps because she sensed their current state of rage, Ruan Qingyi immediately added a message to break the tension.
The Star: “Don't be too angry. Our Merfolk, the Chariot's Titan race, and the Emperor's Forest Elves all suffered surprise attacks to varying degrees.”
The Emperor: “This involves me too?”
Gu Xiaobei was genuinely shocked.
After all, the Forest Elves mostly stayed in their own territory growing grain. They lived a life completely detached from the world's conflicts.
For them to be attacked under such circumstances seemed completely unjustified.
The Tower: “Was it targeted? I'm seeing only the Original Five Great Races being attacked.”
Lan Qingyou immediately noticed something off when she saw the list of victims.
Good grief!
Whose fierce general was this, to go and offend all Five Great Races at once?
Did they not want to live on the Kalim continent anymore?
Righteousness: “No. The conclusion we reached was that, aside from the war in the Abandoned Land which was long-premeditated, the other incidents were accidental—or rather, triggered by the events surrounding the Witch race.”
The Fool: “After some fools found out that witch blood could be used to make evolution items, they figured that since they were all part of the Original Five Great Races, if the witches' blood worked, the other races' blood shouldn't be much worse.”
The Tower: “I see. That kind of development is entirely predictable.”
Lan Qingyou's lips twitched a few times.
She had to admit, the person behind the scenes who had orchestrated this had a masterful grasp of human nature.
If their goal was to strike at the Original Five Great Races, they had achieved it without even needing to show their face.
She just didn't know if this was the mastermind's ultimate goal.
The Fool: “Also, you don't need to worry too much. Although losses were heavy, I heard that during the war, the witches under your command researched a spell that can resurrect witches. They managed to barely keep the casualties down.”
Barely kept them down, huh... sounds impressive.
But even a quarter is still a lot. There was absolutely nothing to be happy about.
Lan Qingyou curled her lip.
While she wasn't particularly happy, she was quite interested in that resurrection spell.
After all, it had the word 'resurrection' in it. Who wouldn't want to see exactly how it worked?
High Priestess: “You guys keep chatting. I have to go.”
While everyone was trying to ease the atmosphere, Vivian sent this message and then waved to the vampires behind her.
The large group of people took their leave and flew off in a certain direction.
Lan Qingyou watched them, feeling a bit baffled.
Good grief, she hadn't even figured out the directions yet, and she didn't know where the Adventurers' Guild was, yet she was already charging off with her people. Had her anger completely clouded her judgment?
Lan Qingyou shook her head slightly, then relayed the news of the 'Abandoned War' to her group.
“They're dead...”
“I didn't expect so much to happen in ten months.”
“Actually, most of it happened in the last month—maybe even the last half-month. After that, the front lines were stuck in a stalemate.”
Lan Qingyou's explanation, combined with the information the others had gathered from their own friends, lessened the sorrowful atmosphere quite a bit.
However, Lan Qingyou could still feel the murderous intent radiating from everyone, a clear sign they were looking for an outlet.
Ten months. Although they hadn't been killing monsters at high intensity every single day, their average level of 50 was enough to indicate the kind of life they had led during those ten months.
It could be said that, excluding magic, skills, and Magic Eyes, this group of people had the most experience in fighting monsters and dungeons of all the witches.
They might not compare to the witches who fought other people outside, but they certainly didn't lack for killing intent or ferocity.
“Let's go as well,” Lan Qingyou said, glancing at Gu Xiaobei and Li Huai.
Then, she flew off in the direction Vivian and her group had gone.
She chose this path partly because she was worried Vivian would get lost, and partly out of trust in Vivian.
After all, Vivian, like herself, was not someone who acted without a reason.
Sure enough.
After flying for a short distance, Lan Qingyou spotted something different on the vast, white snowfield from afar.
