Chapter 450 · Volume 1

Saving Witch Lucia

Since an investigation was necessary, getting to the scene as quickly as possible was the priority to ensure it remained undisturbed.
Fortunately, while Martha wasn't the closest to the snow mountains, she wasn't far from where the shot had been fired. It didn't take long for her to arrive.
After scanning the surroundings, Martha quickly pinpointed the location from which the magic had been launched.
After all, magic was composed of mana.
And as long as it was made of mana, it couldn't escape her Crimson Magic Eyes.
To others, the shot might have looked like magic traveling from one point to another.
It might have left broken branches in the woods, ripples on a lake, or a hollow trail through the clouds.
But in the eyes of a witch, there was more than just these surface appearances.
Every individual's mana had unique properties, and their habits when casting magic differed. Mana traces were always denser than the ambient mana in nature, making them very easy to spot.
“This should be the place.”
Martha, sitting on her broom, floated near the top of a large tree.
This was where the magic had ultimately originated. Based on the traces, it had even lingered in the air slightly above the treetops.
“Tsk... suddenly, I don't feel like investigating further.”
Martha muttered with a hint of distaste after seeing where the traces stopped.
Standing on a treetop versus being slightly above it were two entirely different things, representing two different possibilities.
Who else in the Abandoned Land could fly right now...
She didn't even need to think to know the answer.
And so...
Martha cast a casual glance at something caught between two leaves just below the treetop, then took out her card to send her suspicions.
At that moment, Erika sent a message first, along with a photo.
Steel Witch: “Lucia is dead. A blade pierced her heart, and all the blood in her body has been drained. [Image]”
Dream Witch: “Shit.”
Thorn Witch: “Damned bastards.”
Flame Witch: “What’s the situation with the Yeti race? Is anyone still there? If no one’s going, I’ll go. I’ll find out what’s going on and what they’re trying to do.”
Silent Witch: “Forget it. Leave the scouting tasks to someone else.”
Flame Witch: “What, I can’t go?”
Silent Witch: “I’m afraid you’ll roast the yetis into jerky.”
Golden Witch: “...”
Summoning Witch: “@Steel Witch, go check the place where the yetis were killed just now. Those guys probably put Lucia’s blood into a card. If you find it, Lucia might still be saved.”
Steel Witch: “What about the heart?”
Dream Witch: “Idiot, use a Life Potion! Didn’t the boss give everyone a hundred bottles of Life Potion before? Use those; they work fast.”
Standing beside a splash of red in the white snow, Erika quickly took out her Life Potion.
Compared to ordinary healing potions, these potions were far superior in terms of both health recovery speed and wound treatment.
The only complication was that Lucia’s wound required the heart to be treated first, followed by the flesh.
Otherwise, if the flesh healed first, the heart would be difficult to reach.
However, Erika wasn't squeamish. To save Lucia, she got her hands dirty and began the procedure immediately.
Steel Witch: “It’s handled. What’s next?”
Golden Witch: “There’s a Toy Witch in the Tea Party who can turn anything into a toy. Have her turn Lucia into a toy; that should put her in a state of suspended animation.”
Dream Witch: “No, no, no. Looking at the current situation, she’s already dead.”
Golden Witch: “Sorry, I didn't describe it clearly. Preserving her freshness?”
Silent Witch: “I think it’s better than leaving her to freeze on the snow mountain. This might actually work.”
Steel Witch: “Then let’s do it.”
Golden Witch: “I’ve already notified her to head to the snow mountains. Erika, give me the coordinates of Lucia’s home.”
Steel Witch: “No, Lucia is dead now, and her shelter is ruined. I’ll fly her toward Typhon City. Have the Toy Witch fly to a node somewhere in between.”
Thorn Witch: “Then come to my place. It’s roughly halfway between Typhon City and the snow mountains. There are dense groves here that are very easy to identify even from a hundred meters up.”
Steel Witch: “Fine. Send the coordinates.”
After sending the message, the Steel Witch picked up Lucia’s body—which had already been healed by the Life Potion—and flew toward the area where she had shot down the yetis.
Though they were furious, the witches had almost instantly devised a way to save Lucia.
They didn't know if it would work, but they didn't care about that right now.
In short, it was a desperate attempt.
As long as they could retrieve Lucia’s blood and put it back into her body, there was a chance she could be revived.
Summoning Witch: “I’ve reached the location. I checked around and found something interesting. [Image]”
Seeing that they had finally settled on a way to save Lucia, Martha sent out her discovery.
Golden Witch: “Interesting. You don't need to worry about this. Just keep an eye on your respective nodes.”
Before anyone else could speak after seeing Martha’s photo, Bei Adolis spoke up first.
After all, she was currently the bridge between the Witch Group and the administrative management.
Moreover, she had been providing real-time reports to Diana about the situation and the treatment plan, so there was no need for the other witches to weigh in.
Except...
Summoning Witch: “As you wish, but don't expect us to be too well-behaved.”
Indeed.
Witches could never be described as well-behaved girls.
This applied to both those in the Tea Party and the Witch Group.
Flame Witch: “The Yeti race is gone. Not a single soul left. [Image][Image][Image]”
Just as Martha finished, Pandora sent her message, along with several photos of deserted igloos.
Bei Adolis didn't bother with these problem children.
After forwarding the images to Diana, she began discussing countermeasures with her.
Actually, the object in the photo was very simple: two leaves sandwiching a white object that looked like a pigeon feather.
Witch of Knowledge: “Things have gotten a bit complicated.”
White-haired Witch: “Now is not the time for that. We need to come up with a strategy.”
Witch of Fresh Blood: “Just kill them. Anyone who dares to destroy the Abandoned Land that the Clan Leader worked so hard to build should just be killed.”
...
This was rare.
Since it was confirmed that Lan Qingyou was trapped in a dungeon, Ursula had been blaming herself constantly.
She kept saying things like, “I shouldn't have focused on those beauty potions,” or “I should have gone with her.” She hadn't cared about anything else.
Yet now, she had suddenly piped up and dropped a line like that.
