Chapter 398 · Volume 1

Who Are You Looking Down On!

“Clan Leader, are you alright?”
As a pale Lan Qingyou was teleported back, Ursula immediately stepped forward.
By now, Ursula had recovered quite a bit. She was at least conscious, and the large lump on her forehead had subsided, though a faint hint of blue and purple bruising remained.
But it was nothing serious.
Speaking of which, Lan Qingyou's battle was likely the longest in the entire quarter-finals.
It had lasted a full ten-plus minutes.
To have recovered this much in just those few minutes—mana truly was capable of anything.
“I'm fine, just a bit anemic.”
...
Lan Qingyou's single sentence caused the audience to lose their minds.
After being bled like that, she actually just called it being 'a bit anemic'?
Dammit! Why did it feel like she was flexing!
Although things like life potions existed—items that could pull you back from death's door as long as you had a single breath and a point of health left—reality was different.
Anyone who had actually fought monsters or wandered through dungeons knew one thing.
It was best never to let your health drop below fifty percent.
Because that would induce a sense of weakness, affecting your movements and judgment, which could lead to your death in a fight.
But the way Lan Qingyou had looked just now, her health had clearly been below fifty percent.
No! Experienced warriors who were frequently injured even speculated that she might have dropped to the ten percent mark—the brink of death.
And yet, she had survived just like that.
Furthermore, as if she were completely unaffected, she had applied medicine to herself, mocked her enemy, and watched with great interest as the other woman died.
This simply wasn't something a human could accomplish.
No, even a witch shouldn't be able to do that. After all, this world had its own rules, and one of them was that low health caused weakness.
“Didn't the Witch of the Tower say the Demon race has an undying attribute? Do you think this witch has it too?”
“Hmm... putting it that way, it’s actually possible. Otherwise, there’s no way to explain how she could recover from death's door so casually.”
“Are you kidding me! One Demon race with an undying attribute is already a headache. Now there's the Witch race too? How are we supposed to live?”
“Is it a headache, or are you just green with envy? I'm almost embarrassed to call you out.”
“No, he has a point. However, I think saying the entire Witch race has an undying attribute is an exaggeration. I have a witch friend, and aside from having an ageless attribute, she doesn't have an undying attribute at all.”
“Meaning only the Witch of the Tower has it? That’s too unfair.”
“Who knows.”
“Didn't you hear her mention life-saving items? Are you pretending to be deaf?”
“Items? Oh, right, she did say something like that. But I'm still leaning toward an undying attribute.”
“More than that, I'm concerned about whether that Xin Tianle's corpse will resurrect.”
“Probably not. Look at that transparent referee. He didn't declare victory when the witch was down, but he did the moment Xin Tianle fell. It’s clear she’s dead for good.”
“I'm not talking about her being dead. I mean, didn't the Witch of the Tower say before that they can resurrect? Resurrect! If she comes back, wasn't the witch's fight all for nothing?”
“True, demons can resurrect, which is why they're undying...”
“Wait, look! Xin Tianle's corpse!”
Just as someone was questioning it, a person nearby pointed at the sky-screen. Everyone immediately looked up.
On the empty arena, Xin Tianle's body was rapidly weathering into a pile of ash. Then, a gust of wind blew...
Leaving only those red poisonous mushrooms on the arena.
“...”
“The ashes were all blown away. Can she still resurrect?”
“I've never seen a resurrection, so I'm not sure.”
“The physical body is gone. She probably can't come back.”
“I think so too. Otherwise, the Witch of the Tower definitely wouldn't have left so easily.”
“True. Given her level of cruelty, if Xin Tianle had even a one percent chance of resurrecting, she never would have left the arena so casually.”
“You seem to know the Witch of the Tower well.”
“Not at all. I just happen to be one of the hundred-plus survivors from District 666.”
“Then you're a real legend.”
While the world channel was engaged in a heated discussion about Lan Qingyou, she had already entered recovery mode.
Having lost so much blood, she had to rest and recuperate to get her body back in order for the afternoon's battle no matter what.
So, after returning to the rest area, Lan Qingyou started eating immediately.
Right now, only eating could help her recover quickly.
“If you want to replenish your blood, I happen to have a few self-made potions here.”
While Lan Qingyou was gorging herself with Ursula's help, Alisa, who was reading on the chaise longue opposite them, spoke up.
Hearing this, Ursula, who was 'transporting' food to Lan Qingyou, immediately looked at her warily.
“You're not trying to follow our Clan Leader's example and poison someone before a match, are you?”
Ursula's concern wasn't without reason.
After all, Lan Qingyou had just personally demonstrated the possibility of such outside-the-ring tactics. It was only natural to worry that someone might try to imitate her.
However...
“While I'm not worried about you poisoning me, my pride as an alchemist won't allow me to accept your kindness.”
Lan Qingyou looked at Alisa with a firm gaze.
She knew Alisa wanted her to recover to her perfect state because only then would defeating her have any meaning.
But it was exactly as she said.
She simply couldn't do it.
What a joke.
An alchemist using another alchemist's potion to recover... Who are you looking down on!
“Is that so? That's a pity then.”
Alisa didn't even lift her head from her book. Her aura was so cool that even Lan Qingyou had to admit she was a pro at it.
But because of Lan Qingyou's refusal, the entire rest area instantly fell into an atmosphere that was slightly awkward, yet one that no one truly minded.
“By the way, congratulations on taking third place.”
After stuffing a fist-sized piece of shrimp into her mouth, Lan Qingyou smiled at Ursula.
“No, this only happened because you killed that Xin Tianle. Otherwise, with my current ability, it would have taken quite some effort to defeat her.”
Ursula bowed devoutly.
This wasn't humility; it was the conclusion she had reached after hearing Lan Qingyou's revelations about the Demon race.
Against a thick-skinned Demon race member with no obvious weaknesses, her Twisted Magic Eye wouldn't have been able to inflict much physical damage at most—it would have just twisted them into a pretzel.
Mentally, she could only slightly alter the opponent's thoughts at best.
And that was only if the opponent's spirit was lower than hers.
But how could a spirit that could trap even Lan Qingyou in an illusion possibly be low?
