Chapter 323 · Volume 1

Just Have a Heart...

Bei Adolis naturally had her own ideas regarding this matter.
“Haha, as long as we attract them, it’ll be fine. Didn’t you say so yourself? The key isn’t the individuals, but those small groups.”
Bei Adolis let out a loud laugh, then snapped her folding fan shut against her palm with a sharp crack.
“The ones we really want to attract are the people from these small groups; the ones we really need to contact are also from these small groups. As for the rest of the individual drifters, let them do as they please.”
“Whether they stay or not doesn't matter.”
“In terms of numbers or combat power, those transmigrators can’t even begin to compare to the evolved beings who are willing to risk their lives to carve out a future for themselves.”
Bei Adolis’s tone made no effort to hide her contempt for transmigrators.
However, she wasn't looking down on all transmigrators; after all, she was one herself.
Rather, she despised those self-righteous types who expected to sit back and enjoy the fruits of others' labor, always looking for a handout or trying to extort others.
The other witches were already used to this.
After all, they had heard that back on Blue Star, Bei Adolis had been tormented by a leech-like, parasitic family, so she harbored a deep-seated hatred for such people.
It was precisely because she hated people like that—and hated the thought of becoming one herself—that she had abandoned everything and come here the moment the Witch's Forest opened.
If for nothing else, it was to repay the kindness Lan Qingyou had shown by giving out Witch potions on the world channel. Without that, she might never have escaped her disastrous original family.
“If that’s the case, there shouldn't be any major issues. Let’s proceed in that direction. Lengyue, take your people and cover more ground.”
Once the strategy was clear, Diana made her decision quickly.
It was a very executable plan.
Attract people here, then quietly approach and negotiate with those from the small groups.
This way, they wouldn't even have to worry about others noticing the Witch race was contacting those small groups. It was truly killing multiple birds with one stone.
Of course, Diana wouldn't reach out to every single race. That would have to be determined when the time came.
“No problem. We need to level up anyway.”
Nangong Lengyue had no objections to the arrangement. To her, fighting was fighting, regardless of the reason.
As long as there was something to kill, it was all the same. She just needed to do some screening when it came to personnel.
After all, she had to lead the teams. If each team consisted of a hundred people, she would need at least five to ten veterans per group.
While mobilizing over a thousand people wasn't a problem, the issue was that the Patrol Team currently had a portion of its members gathering intelligence, while the rest were responsible for patrolling the entire Abandoned Land.
Even though the Abandoned Land no longer spawned monsters above E-grade due to its promotion to a city, the core of their work hadn't changed.
It had simply shifted from preventing monster outbreaks to preventing unauthorized intrusions.
“But the Witch... I mean, Typhon City’s current area probably can’t accommodate that many people, right?”
After doing some mental calculations, Nangong Lengyue raised a crucial point: territory.
If the territory wasn't large enough, it wouldn't matter how many people they brought in.
“The Clan Leader already thought of that. She should be designing new magic circles right now to expand Typhon City’s area.”
Diana answered Nangong Lengyue’s question before turning back to the other witches to assign their tasks one by one.
Since they were going to host a large-scale auction, they needed to consider every possible problem during the preparation phase.
“Right, speaking of territory, we can use the limited space as an excuse to screen the guests for the auction. That way, we can invite the leaders of those small groups all at once.”
As the meeting was drawing to a close, Bei Adolis, who had been silent for a while, spoke up again.
“Just have a heart...”
Diana gave her a flat look.
This woman was truly something... They were in Kalim now, not Blue Star, and she still wanted to pull that whole hunger marketing stunt?
Still, the method was sound.
Of course, what Diana had in mind wasn't just screening, but sending formal invitations to the various tribal leaders.
That would ensure they actually showed up.
Even if the leader didn't come in person, as long as they sent a representative, there would be something to talk about.
Furthermore, this would avoid unnecessary trouble. It would prevent people from claiming they weren't informed or that they were being looked down upon.
While the Witch race didn't fear trouble and certainly wasn't afraid of anyone looking for it, that didn't mean they enjoyed creating it for themselves. After all, every single one of them was busy.
Although everyone except the Tourism Minister was present at this meeting, most of them had only managed to squeeze it into their packed schedules.
Some were swamped with official duties, while others were in the final stages of experiments.
Therefore, they had to minimize any threat that might waste their time.
“Oh, I almost forgot...”
Diana suddenly slapped her forehead and looked toward a witch sitting quietly in the corner of the meeting room. She was dressed entirely in black, with even her face obscured by a black veil.
“Ursula, there hasn't been much to do at the herb field lately. Why don't you take your planting witches and assist Lengyue’s Patrol Team in the dungeons?”
Ursula.
Her full name was Ursula Clementine, the Minister of the Planting Department for the Witch's Forest herb fields.
Throughout the entire meeting, she had sat on a chair in the corner without participating in the discussion, offering an opinion, or even moving an inch.
She stood there like a golem devoid of any life.
If Diana hadn't suddenly noticed her—almost blending into the surroundings—just as the meeting was ending, she might have forgotten she was even there.
It wasn't that Ursula lacked presence; in fact, her presence was stronger than most.
Especially that outfit, which seemed to embrace mysticism to its absolute limit, was very eye-catching.
It was simply that she was too low-profile and a bit shy, preferring not to get involved in most things.
“If that is what Lord Lan requires.”
A low, somber voice echoed from the corner, making everyone involuntarily shiver.
Sigh...
Diana sighed inwardly.
If... if Lan Qingyou weren't a witch or an evolved being, but a deity instead, then Ursula would undoubtedly be her most fanatical zealot.
Herb fields? Mushrooms? Planting Minister?
Shy? Low-profile? Taciturn?
Well, she certainly fit those labels, and they weren't fake, but they were incomplete.
At least, Diana felt they were incomplete.
Compared to the others, her understanding of this zealot was much deeper.
Or rather, in the entire Abandoned Land, it was likely that no one except herself knew exactly how powerful this woman was.
That was why Diana had arranged for her to take her planting witches into battle.
