Chapter 273 · Volume 1

I Know You're Anxious, but Don't Be Anxious Just Yet

“Originally, I wanted to continue selective breeding for the second generation, to give them the endurance, adaptability, and load-bearing stability of draft horses and pack horses.”
“But then those damn people from Formation 505 came and trashed my ranch, stole my research results, and in the end, they actually wanted me to go with them!?”
“Dammit, I’ve never seen anyone so shameless in my life!”
Under everyone's gaze, Frenna gritted her teeth as she recounted her experience.
At the end, she didn't forget to curse the members of Formation 505 once more to vent a bit of the hatred in her heart.
“Beautiful coat, upright chest, well-developed fore-muscles, and a strong back... it is indeed a fine horse.”
“The Sun, you know about horses?”
“My family is of the old nobility; horse riding was a mandatory course for a lady, and it’s also a small hobby of mine.”
Speaking of her family, Ingrid patted her chest and tilted her chin up, a look of pride on her face.
It seemed that even in an otherworldly setting, the pride one possessed was etched into their bones and couldn't be removed.
“Since you like horses and understand them, I’ll give that horse to you. It was stolen anyway.”
Seeing that someone appreciated horses, Frenna was quite pleased.
She gifted the horse to her on the spot.
Of course, since the horse was still in the enemy's hands, Ingrid would have to go get it herself.
This left Ingrid utterly dumbfounded.
Good grief.
Gifting me something is one thing, but making me go take it from someone else? That’s like saying, ‘Someone owes me money, I owe you money, so you go collect from them.’ Is that appropriate?
Clearly, it wasn't appropriate at all, was it?
“The first-generation long-eared has a very gentle and lively personality. I’m sure you’ll be able to get along with her quite well.”
Seeing Ingrid staring at her in shock, Frenna didn't feel the least bit embarrassed. She even began explaining the horse's basic condition and personality.
“See those reins on the first-gen's mouth? That guy is using them to forcibly control her. As long as you cut the reins, the first-gen can escape his clutches.”
“Enslavement Reins, a B-grade magic item. It’s something that can enslave B-grade and lower monsters. It’s actually quite good if used properly.”
Just as Frenna finished her explanation, Lan Qingyou floated down from the sky to introduce something she had seen that Frenna was unaware of.
“I see. Are you really willing to give me the only remaining result of your research?” Ingrid asked.
After all, they were all researchers; she naturally understood what a singular research result represented.
Asking this was partly to confirm once more and partly to avoid any future disputes over the matter.
“The genetic map is in my hands. I can recreate it anytime,” Frenna said with full confidence.
“Holy crap, genetic maps? Is it cloning!?” Ruan Qingyi exclaimed.
“Haha! How could it be!? That technology isn't easily stabilized even in a magical world. The genetic map I’m talking about is the crossbreeding map of two types of monsters. I just need to re-match them later to breed another one.”
“So it seems they’ve been chasing you because they want your genetic map,” someone remarked softly, as if they finally understood.
“No, what they want are the mana cultivation fluid and culture dishes I made,” Frenna shook her head.
“And what are those?”
“They’re essentially a device and a potion that allow juvenile monsters to grow rapidly.”
“Hey! There’s actually a device like that? Now I really want to see it for myself.”
At the mention of the word ‘device,’ 【Chariot】 Olf’s interest was piqued.
From just the few words Frenna had spoken, he could already imagine what the device was for, though some of the key technologies involved were likely the unique research results of this new member, 【Lovers】.
“That’s certainly no problem, but we have to wait until this is all over.”
“Haha! Then leave it to me!”
Hearing there was something cool to see, the bearded Olf immediately perked up. He pulled out a card, threw out a tracked vehicle that looked like a Doomsday Chariot, and hopped on.
“I’ll just see for myself which is better: a knight or my chariot!”
With the gear shifted, Olf floored the accelerator. The mana engine began to roar, and he charged toward the knight on the opposite side.
“Huh! Stealing my business!?”
The Chariot’s move startled The Sun, and she immediately started running.
“Wait! The horse! Don't you dare kill my horse!”
The Sun’s way of running was very similar to how Lan Qingyou used to move—a sort of ‘space walk’ mode where each leap covered several meters.
This method was extremely convenient and saved a lot of energy.
Lan Qingyou, the ‘veteran’ of this style, watched and gave a thumbs-up in approval.
“Alright! Three contestants have now entered the field one after another!”
“What kind of battle will they bring us next?”
“Will the Chariot’s chariot defeat the knight’s warhorse, or will the knight’s warhorse defeat the Chariot’s chariot? Or perhaps the latecomer, student Sun, will succeed in her sneak attack?”
“Let us wait and see for this match!”
At this moment, Gu Xiaobei’s high-spirited voice rang out from the side.
A bit startled, Frenna turned her head to look. Good lord, this girl was holding a wooden spoon like a commentator holding a microphone, giving a play-by-play.
Meanwhile, the other people from the villa seemed accustomed to this, as if they had seen it many times before.
What on earth is wrong with these people...
Had she joined some kind of bizarre organization?
“Is this... appropriate?” Frenna couldn't help but voice her doubt.
Someone immediately responded.
“Of course it’s appropriate. Otherwise, we can’t just stand here and play auto-chess. Watching different people's combat styles is also beneficial for improving one's own fighting skills.”
These words came from the battle maniac, Li Huai.
“Indeed. What was supposed to be a team battle turned into a series of duels because of a certain someone. It certainly saves us a lot of trouble,” Justice nodded with his eyes closed.
“Saves us what!? This way, those of us who didn't take action won't get any blood!”
Riesling, the personification of Righteousness, was jumping with anxiety.
The group heard this and froze on the spot.
Oh, right!!
Weren't they all here for the blood?
But now, after Lan Qingyou’s meteorite-like strike, the small fry were all dead, leaving only the ‘protagonist’ on horseback.
The key was that both Chariot and The Sun had already charged in. If the rest of them went in too, it would be somewhat inappropriate.
The guy wasn't some boss-level enemy; he wasn't worth using a blood-pumping combo like a ‘righteous gang-up.’
Of course.
There was another reason why Riesling was jumping with anxiety: because Lan Qingyou’s long-standing distribution method had become the villa's official policy, those who didn't take action wouldn't be allocated any blood.
“I know you're anxious, but don't be anxious just yet.”
