Chapter 266 · Volume 1

New Channel: 【Witch's Tea Party】

Magician, who was still feeling a bit piqued, didn't quite understand when Lan Qingyou asked him.
Magician: "What are you trying to do?"
The Tower: "I want to create a channel for the Witch race. I've noticed that many witches have skewed common sense, which is dangerous. Besides, witches need a place to learn from each other."
This idea had occurred to Lan Qingyou after she met Susie.
While communicating with Susie, she realized that talking with other witches was incredibly interesting.
So, she considered creating a channel for witches to exchange ideas, where she could also draw inspiration from their conversations.
Initially, Lan Qingyou had planned to buy a Channel Activation Card for the magic desk from Chu Yuan.
But then she thought about it.
Since everyone had identification cards now, why not just ask if they could be used for this instead?
It would be much more convenient.
Thanks to her Analytic Magic Eye, Lan Qingyou basically didn't need to be tethered to her 'small' shelter by a tiny desk anymore, except when she needed to upgrade the shelter itself.
Magician: "It's possible. High Priestess and I just finished researching this kind of multi-person group chat. I'll talk to her and the other developer in a bit to grant you the permissions."
Although Tarot Villa also operated on a multi-person chat model, it was more of an experimental group, and the number of people hadn't reached a true 'multi-person' scale yet.
So, after the barriers were lifted and demand increased, Magician and the others had been rushing to perfect this feature.
Lan Qingyou happened to catch the wave at just the right time.
However, even though the function was ready, it had been developed by several people together. To prevent anyone from tampering with the system, permissions required the approval of all three developers.
Otherwise, if any of the three could grant permissions on a whim, wouldn't they just become power-mad admins?
High Priestess: "I see. This is fine. We'll treat it as a pilot program."
Wheel of Fortune: "No one would ever refuse a request from the witch."
Magician: "Haha, that's true."
With the consent of the three, Lan Qingyou obtained the permissions to open a channel with ease.
Once she had the permissions, Lan Qingyou saw a plus sign appear next to her chat window. Clicking it brought up a prompt asking her to enter the name of the new channel.
Lan Qingyou thought about it. Since it was an online thing and they were all witches, that one classy name seemed perfect.
After licking her lips and typing out a string of characters to confirm, a new channel named 'Witch's Tea Party' appeared on Lan Qingyou's card.
After the channel was created, a settings box popped up.
These were private settings for the channel, mainly regarding entry restrictions.
After looking through and getting the gist of it, Lan Qingyou set the entry method to face-to-face invitations only.
This was primarily to prevent outsiders from sneaking in.
After all, red eyes were the biggest hallmark of a witch.
Furthermore, unique patterns would appear whenever they activated their Magic Eye skills.
It made them very easy to identify.
Of course, all of this was based on the premise of voluntary participation.
If an invitee didn't want to join or simply disliked being disturbed, it didn't matter. Not everyone liked to huddle together, after all.
Lan Qingyou understood that mindset perfectly.
As for her... she was mostly in it for the inspiration.
Even just one or two good ideas would be excellent for her.
"Susie, I've created a witch group chat channel. Do you want to join?"
"Group chat channel?"
Susie was taken aback, not quite understanding what Lan Qingyou was talking about.
Was this chat channel like the ones on the magic desk?
If it was, she didn't mind joining. As Lan Qingyou had said before, communication was the best way for a witch to improve.
It would surely be a wonderful thing if she could discuss potions—especially poisons—with more witches.
"Yes, it's on the cards. It's much more convenient."
"Eh? The cards?"
Susie, who had assumed it was for the magic desk, was stunned again as she pulled out her card.
Taking the opportunity, Lan Qingyou used the camera function to scan the guild logo on the back of Susie's card, much like scanning a QR code.
【Ding! The Witch of the High Tower has invited you to join the chat channel 'Witch's Tea Party'.】
"Hmm... Witch's Tea Party? That's quite an elegant name."
Seeing the prompt on her card, Susie couldn't help but comment.
Lan Qingyou looked quite proud of herself.
"Right? I thought of the name back when I was installing the teleportation circles. I just didn't use it then, so it's perfect for this."
Susie nodded and joined without a second thought.
Seeing that Lan Qingyou's nickname was 'Witch of the High Tower', Susie changed hers to 'Witch of Poison'.
Since it was a 'Witch's' tea party, it was only natural to identify as one.
It was all about the sense of ritual.
Then... the shameless group owner Lan Qingyou granted her administrative permissions.
"This is..."
Susie looked at Lan Qingyou, confused.
"Don't you have experience managing the Adventurers' Guild? Being a chat group admin should be more than easy for you."
"..."
Lan Qingyou's words left Susie speechless.
What did she think the management level was exactly?
While managing a chat group was certainly less complex than an Adventurers' Guild, it was a bit heartless to pile more work on her when Lan Qingyou knew she was already the guild president.
"You're planning to resign anyway, aren't you?"
As if her inner thoughts had been exposed, Susie's eye twitched as she began to make excuses.
"Who said I was going to resign?"
"Oh? Don't you want to level up? Earlier, you looked so eager that I thought you were planning to quit and focus on leveling so you could get that Soul Siphon skill."
Lan Qingyou said this with a very exaggerated look of surprise, her hand lightly covering her mouth with splayed fingers.
"..."
Susie remained silent, her fists clenched.
Why did she suddenly want to hit someone?
There was no need to be so blunt about things. Now she was in a position where she couldn't easily back down.
"That's not it at all. It's just a part-time job; there's no need to go as far as resigning."
Forced into a corner by Lan Qingyou, Susie's mouth twitched as she stubbornly stuck to her persona, unable to step down from the stage she'd built for herself. Lan Qingyou could only sigh as she watched.
It seemed this strict, dean-like Witch of Poison had some tsundere traits.
Well, being a tsundere was fine. A little more of that wouldn't hurt anyone.
"By the way, the tea party is invitation-only. You just need to confirm they're a witch and ask if they're willing. If they are, just use the camera function on your card to scan the identifier on the back of theirs."
