However, Nan Yue was different. She hadn't completed many missions, and excluding a few strange individuals, the total number of people who had survived alongside her didn't even reach ten.
Consequently, an obscure name that no one had ever heard of suddenly appeared on the Top Rankings.
The forums were instantly overwhelmed.
Most people were inquiring about Nan Yue's situation, searching for anyone who had performed a mission with her.
But no one answered.
Those who had survived missions with Nan Yue weren't the type to gossip online; they likely saw the posts but chose to keep their mouths shut to avoid bringing her trouble.
Thus, after asking around, it turned out that not a single person had completed a mission with this high-level player.
"Is this for real? No one has ever seen this expert?"
"Could she be a team-wipe type scavenger? Maybe everyone who went on a mission with her died..."
"Didn't you look at the remarks column? it clearly says she's harmless."
"Then how could no one know her?"
"Speaking of which, that Fu Xi Ming from before was just like this."
"Fu Xi Ming? You mean the top 3 expert, the leader of Sharp Blade?"
"How old is your information? She's already top 2."
"!!! Sister Fu is my goddess!"
"By the way, did you see Nan Yue's homepage? Their team is called Beauty is Justice..."
"I saw it! They're all beautiful women and handsome guys!"
"Right! That guy's luck is incredible!"
Nan Yue didn't pay much attention to their discussions, but she did flip through the updated rankings. Sure enough, Fu Xi Ming's name had moved up one spot.
Generally speaking, scavengers within the top 10 rarely changed positions unless they died.
Therefore, it was a rare achievement for Fu Xi Ming to move up a rank.
Nan Yue gave Gu Xiang Kai and the other a few instructions before heading out to find the Cuckoo at the navigation desk.
She took out the business card she had received previously. "Hello, I'd like to meet with the contact person for Sharp Blade. I have some matters to consult about."
There were hundreds of scavengers who wanted to see Sharp Blade, but very few possessed a business card, so the young girl at the information desk readily helped her make the connection.
It didn't take long for Nan Yue to receive a reply.
"The contact person is coming to find you. They've requested to meet you at the Plant Coffee House this afternoon."
Nan Yue knew the place. It was located in a part of the city center with the densest vegetation, and the owner was a woman with short, golden-blonde hair.
Nan Yue sat down next to a massive anthurium. Having never drunk coffee before, she flipped through the menu repeatedly.
The blonde owner, with a cigarette in her mouth, watched her for a while. "My butter latte is quite good. It's on the house."
Nan Yue waved her hand. "I'll pay."
The female owner brushed her bangs aside. "I like beautiful women."
Nan Yue smiled somewhat awkwardly, then saw a girl wearing a black and white grid apron walking over.
"Ling, you're teasing people again."
Nan Yue's eyes lit up. "It's you!"
The girl walking over was gentle and quiet; it was Dongfang Yuelai, whom she hadn't seen since their chance encounter in a mission.
"Ah, it's you, little rookie. You've moved fast."
Dongfang Yuelai was also quite surprised, but her emotions didn't fluctuate much, and she merely smiled.
"Since we're acquaintances, it definitely has to be free."
Ling clapped her hands and stood up to go grind the coffee beans in the back.
Dongfang Yuelai sat down across from Nan Yue.
"I didn't expect we'd meet again."
She gave Nan Yue a meaningful look. "I just saw you on the Top Rankings."
Nan Yue smiled and said nothing. After all, there were a few people who knew her now, and there would be more in the future.
"Is that your teammate?"
Nan Yue looked toward the flamboyant and unrestrained blonde girl. She remembered that Dongfang Yuelai had been alone before.
"Yes, Dongfang Ling. We happen to share the same surname, so we teamed up."
There was no one with the surname Dongfang in the top 50, but since the information was collected by people, there were bound to be omissions.
This was especially true for someone as low-profile as Dongfang Yuelai.
At the very least, Nan Yue didn't believe she was incapable of making it into the top 50.
Nan Yue offered a few words of congratulations before moving on to another matter.
"Speaking of Dongfang Ling, I saw her name on a list once."
Back when she had asked the Cuckoo named Chi to investigate the teachers at the re-training school, there was a teacher with that name.
Dongfang Yuelai chuckled softly. "Yes, despite how Ling looks, she actually enjoys educating others."
"How much do you know about Sharp Blade?"
As someone she had shared a mission with, Nan Yue still trusted Dongfang Yuelai's character.
"A little bit."
Dongfang Yuelai's expression was indifferent. "I don't like joining organizations."
Nan Yue wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but she felt like Dongfang Yuelai was hinting at something.
"Sharp Blade seems to have a good reputation and is an organization that works for the benefit of scavengers."
Dongfang Ling brought over three cups of coffee and sat down next to Dongfang Yuelai.
"Little sister, you should know that every organization has one major problem."
"The division of power."
"If an organization wants to accomplish big things, it needs many people. And when there are many people, there is trouble."
Dongfang Ling sat with her legs crossed in a relaxed manner and shrugged. "So, even though some of the programs Sharp Blade is currently promoting are very beneficial, once you actually join, things won't be so simple."
Nan Yue understood. She smiled and said, "Thank you, but I wasn't planning on joining anyway."
Dongfang Ling let out a 'ha'. "I know. You have that Beauty Squad or whatever."
Nan Yue felt quite embarrassed. When she chose the name, she had forgotten to consider what would happen if it actually became famous.
Dongfang Ling and the other sat with her for a while until more customers arrived, then they went back to work.
Nan Yue knew that neither of them lacked points. Running a small coffee shop was likely a way to collect information on one hand and kill time on the other.
At two o'clock, someone arrived punctually at the coffee shop and sat across from Nan Yue.
"You..."
Nan Yue hadn't expected Lan Jing Shui to come personally; she was a bit surprised.
Lan Jing Shui was wearing a simple white shirt with a vibrant pink silk cardigan over it.
"You're a star right now, so of course I had to come personally."
Lan Jing Shui placed an order and added with a smile, "Besides, I've always been very enthusiastic about meeting beautiful women."
Nan Yue laughed. Lan Jing Shui wasn't a frivolous person; based on their time in the mission, he was very respectful toward women, but he simply liked to talk as if he were a playboy.
"The reason I contacted you this time isn't because I want to join. I just have some things I want to ask."
Lan Jing Shui took it well. "I figured. By the way, Xiao Xixi knew I was coming to see you and asked me to convey her gratitude."
"I heard you guys entered an extreme mission and almost didn't make it out."
It took Nan Yue a moment to realize that 'Xiao Xixi' referred to Shang Xi.
She felt like laughing.
"You don't know how fierce Xiao Xixi can be. She usually doesn't listen to anyone, so it's the first time I've seen her hold someone in such high regard."
Lan Jing Shui lowered his eyes and took a sip of cold tea. "But it makes sense. After all, your ability is very special."
Nan Yue was well aware that since Shang Xi had left the mission alive, her ability would be known by Sharp Blade.
However, she couldn't bring herself to kill an innocent person just to protect her own secrets.
