For example, the dormitory might offer some protection right now because they stay in their rooms during class hours.
But in the later stages, the dormitory might not be safe either.
What scavengers do is constantly use death to explore these harsh rules.
Bai La La raised her notebook and joined the discussion. "The content of the drawing class really does seem to be the manner of death. I just don't know if it's a prophecy or a hint."
But it was certain that these deaths were strongly related to the so-called person in charge. Only by finding the person in charge could they figure everything out.
"From now on, those of us without classes will still move together."
Nan Yue specifically reminded Gu Xiang Kai, "Generally speaking, it shouldn't be easy for something to happen while working, but you still need to keep an eye on Gu Yun."
It wasn't to protect him, but mainly because if he died, Gu Xiang Kai would be left in the kitchen alone with Engineer Yang.
Even if Gu Xiang Kai had an awakened ability, it was too risky.
Nan Yue had a headache. It was true that this was a team mission, but she hadn't expected it to be one where everyone was so interconnected.
If one died, it would only make things more troublesome for the others.
When Nan Yue went to class, she found there were no newly updated textbooks, so she could only quietly ask the students.
Li Xue'er's deskmate, a young boy, answered her, "Teacher, there won't be new textbooks until the previous ones are finished."
Nan Yue's heart sank slightly. "Who told you that?"
The children looked at each other. "It's always been like that. Director Wu said so."
Director Wu.
It was Director Wu again.
Nan Yue had no choice but to bite the bullet and bring out the two lessons about the restroom and the little girl again.
She tried to explain the stories from a scientific perspective without casualties, and the children listened with great interest, though it was unclear if doing so would actually be useful.
After class, Nan Yue gathered with the others who didn't have classes. Those who had originally wanted to use this time to find more clues had lost their spirit because of the deaths of Jiang Mu and the other.
The next class was dance class for Zhu Xi Ning and Shi Yu. Since the children were small and had no foundation in dance, the two taught the simplest waltz.
They didn't focus on footwork or posture. Simply put, it was just pairs of two spinning in circles together.
For scavengers, drawing and dancing were also required courses. They didn't need to be masters; they just needed to know how to do it, so teaching wasn't too difficult.
Many children of this age couldn't settle down to learn any kind of dance and were instead jumping and running around aimlessly.
Zhu Xi Ning worried they would fall and followed behind them like a mother hen.
In contrast, Shi Yu looked at the noisy children in the room with some irritability.
Although she knew in her heart that these children were bullied and abused by Director Wu and the others, it seemed very likely that the ones who killed Jiang Mu and the others were the vengeful spirits of the children who had died before.
She truly couldn't maintain a friendly face.
Furthermore, these children were so noisy that she had no interest in them. Fortunately, there was no evaluation for this, so she just sat on the floor to rest.
Shi Yu took two gulps of water and watched Zhu Xi Ning chasing the children around the room, speaking softly to tell them to slow down, and felt like laughing.
Was she really taking her role that seriously?
By accident, Shi Yu knocked over her water cup. Fortunately, only a small half-cup of water spilled out. She didn't have any paper on her, so she didn't know how to deal with it for a moment.
"Teacher, what are you doing?"
A little girl ran over to Shi Yu and stared at the puddle of water with her.
"The water spilled. Go play somewhere else."
Shi Yu's tone wasn't very good. The little girl pouted but didn't say anything and trotted away.
There was still some time before class ended, and Shi Yu was too lazy to go out and find a mop. It was just a little bit of water anyway; she would let the life teacher clean it up after class.
Shi Yu wasn't a newcomer and wouldn't rely on Nan Yue and the others like Zhao Zhenzhen did.
She knew very well that the death rate for missions was usually over half. They were actually all competitors for the survival spots.
But what exactly were the rules of death...
She couldn't get anything out of these children, otherwise, it wouldn't be so troublesome to find out what happened to the previous teachers.
Shi Yu saw a boy playing by himself in the corner and walked toward him.
"Why are you here by yourself?"
Shi Yu squeezed out a kind smile. The boy leaned against the glass mirror. "I don't like dancing. That's for girls."
Shi Yu smiled. "Did you have dance classes before?"
The boy nodded. "Yes, but the teachers never stayed long, just like the other teachers."
Shi Yu perked up. "Do you know why they left?"
The boy lowered his head, his toes tapping on the smooth floor. "Some were too nice to us, and Director Wu didn't like that."
His voice was so quiet she almost missed it, but Shi Yu understood.
Director Wu and the others were the ones bullying the children, so if any subsequent teachers showed sympathy toward the children, it would trigger death.
Shi Yu felt a slight surge of excitement. She hadn't expected to be the first to learn an accurate rule. Although she knew it was impossible for there to be only one rule, knowing one was still an advantage.
Only... if that was the case, she had to stay even further away from these children.
As for asking her to abuse or bully children, she couldn't bring herself to do that either.
Shi Yu's gaze shifted to Zhu Xi Ning, who was still reminding the children not to bump into each other, and her mind produced a very subtle distortion.
She didn't really want to warn Zhu Xi Ning.
Zhu Xi Ning and her group had acted like high-level players from the start and were always surrounded by everyone, but to be honest, they hadn't been of much help.
Jiang Mu and Liu Kai had died as they were meant to.
Since they were so capable, why would they need a small fry like her to warn them?
The words Shi Yu was about to blurt out to tell Zhu Xi Ning to come over were swallowed back down. She looked at Zhu Xi Ning, a flicker of distorted pleasure flashing in her eyes.
"I see. Why doesn't Director Wu like you?"
Shi Yu was now completely relaxed and began to continue coaxing information out of the little boy.
"..."
Seeing the boy lower his head and remain silent, she asked again, "Then that person in charge, what do they do?"
The boy finally looked up and cast a timid glance at the dance teacher in front of him. "The person in charge has always been at the school..."
Shi Yu's heart beat uncontrollably. She felt she was very close to the answer, and she was so nervous her throat even felt a bit dry.
"Then he is..."
"Ah!!"
Before Shi Yu could finish her question, a scream came from behind her.
The dance studio suddenly went silent. The children nearby all stared blankly in that direction. Shi Yu was also stunned. She turned around to see a little girl fallen on the ground, crying miserably.
Zhu Xi Ning had been chasing after several rowdy children, and her hair practically stood on end when she heard the noise and turned to see the scene.
She even felt a chill run up to the top of her skull. She rushed over in a few steps and saw a girl of about nine years old lying on the ground. Her ankle was clearly out of place, obviously dislocated.
