“Boss, for a warehouse this big, the rent is only two thousand a month, with a one-month deposit and three months upfront. Ask around all of Meng City; who else offers it this cheap?”
“And with this much space, forget about storage—you could raise two elephants in here!”
The real estate agent stomped on the packed earth floor, staring at Yin Yang with an expression that suggested he was getting the deal of a lifetime.
After a quick mental layout, Yin Yang smiled and pulled out eight thousand in cash.
The agent signed the contract with a beaming smile and handed him a key.
“I wish you a prosperous business, boss. If you ever need to rent a house or a warehouse again, just look for me. I’m not bragging, but with my connections, even if you wanted to rent the Command Center building, I’d... have no way to do it.”
After the agent left, Yin Yang locked the door and began drawing on the ground with a wooden stick.
It took him a full half-hour to complete the altar prototype.
“I hope I can gather all the transcendent materials at once the next time Wanwu City opens.”
Yin Yang snapped his fingers, and a wind rose out of nowhere inside the warehouse, covering all the marks he had drawn.
“Before that, I need to get the altar structure ready.”
...
Meng City.
Security Bureau.
Su Baadao stood on a stage with the seizures from the True Knowledge Society displayed before him. Below, the air was filled with the sound of camera shutters.
“Under my strategic planning and with Bureau Chief Wang’s cooperation!”
“Last night, we wiped out a True Knowledge Society stronghold and killed ninety-five cultists!”
“We seized three million, twenty-seven thousand, and one hundred in cash!”
“And they were the true culprits behind the previous attack on our Meng City Security Bureau!”
“In Meng City, I will absolutely not allow any dark criminal forces or cults to exist!”
“This city belongs to the people of Meng City!”
“This sky belongs to the people of Meng City!”
As soon as these words left his mouth, cheers erupted from the crowd, as if the people who had been shouting for justice just a couple of days ago weren't the same ones here now.
Su Baadao basked in the applause, waiting for it to subside slightly before continuing.
“Regarding the organ trafficking issue that everyone has been concerned about recently, I am sorry to inform you that many of the individuals involved are indeed real.”
“It was my failing that we did not discover these vermin, these bad apples, sooner!”
“But please, rest assured!”
“It is never too late to mend the fold!”
“I promise you all! We will eradicate these tumors and return a clear sky to Meng City!”
Another round of thunderous applause followed. Su Baadao gestured for the crowd to settle down.
“Earlier, I heard some say that an outsider couldn't manage Meng City well.”
“Bullshit!”
“What defines a Meng City local? Only those born here? If you go back three generations, how many ‘authentic’ Meng City locals would be left?”
“I have always believed that anyone who is wholeheartedly devoted to Meng City’s well-being is a Meng City local!”
“I, Su Baadao, may have a domineering name, but my actions are guided by a clear conscience!”
“In the few years I’ve been in Meng City, the changes have been obvious to everyone!”
“Why didn't I step forward to explain before? Because I believed! I believed that we were of one mind, and you were of one mind with me!”
“A few rumors and slanders cannot drive a wedge between us!”
The applause was like thunder, as if the audience had to clap with all their might to prove that they weren't the ones who had surrounded the Security Bureau earlier.
Su Baadao waved his hand, signaling Wang Gen to come up and continue.
Wang Gen showed no stage fright, scanning the room as he stood at the lectern.
“I know some members of the True Knowledge Society must be watching. My name is Wang Gen, and those people died by my hand.”
“If you have a problem with that, come for me. You’re welcome anytime!”
As he spoke, Wang Gen made a throat-slitting gesture.
The reporters’ camera shutters were practically smoking from how fast they were clicking!
Such a provocative action would make for the perfect cover photo.
Below the stage, Su Baadao wore a slight smile. He found Wang Gen very much to his liking and was even wondering if he should take Wang Gen with him when he eventually transferred out.
New clothes are best, but old subordinates are better.
An outsider could never be as reliable as a trusted subordinate.
...
In front of the television, Yin Yang clapped repeatedly.
Behind him, the Demigods of the True Knowledge Society looked indignant, especially the first Demigod who had been killed, who was waving his hands frantically.
Yin Yang didn't even need Communion to know what he was saying.
“A duel!”
“Duel me if you have the guts!”
Technically, although he had been completely suppressed by Wang Gen, he might not have died so quickly on his own.
But once Su Baadao joined in, the battle tipped instantly. Naturally, he was resentful.
After all, if Tuoba or Night-Stalker had been the ones targeted, Wang Gen would be the one dead now. How would he have the chance to be posturing on TV?
Thinking of this, he looked at Tuoba and Night-Stalker with a look of disdain.
That look deeply provoked the two ghosts.
Tuoba reached out and delivered a vicious slap that sent the ghost reeling.
Tuoba paused, seemingly surprised that he could actually make physical contact. His smile grew more savage as he pinned the other ghost down and began a relentless beating, causing the other's spirit form to dim.
Seeing this, Night-Stalker joined in, helping Tuoba pummel the other ghost.
Damn it, how dare he look down on them!
If he hadn't collapsed first and allowed Su Baadao and Wang Gen to focus on them, would they have lost so quickly?
Yin Yang acted as if he saw nothing. He snapped his fingers, and a badge appeared in his palm.
“The True Knowledge Society... this identity isn't bad.”
He turned to the three ghosts fighting behind him.
“When you people of the True Knowledge Society kill or sacrifice, are there any specific rituals or marks you use?”
The three ghosts froze, all looking at Yin Yang simultaneously.
Ghost Tiger, who had been watching the spectacle, grew serious and stared intently at Yin Yang as well.
...
Three days later.
Evening.
“Relax, relax. It’s normal to feel like you can’t breathe. It’ll be over soon.”
“Honestly, you’re lucky. I’m on a tight schedule, otherwise I’d never let you die this quickly.”
Yin Yang held a human trafficker’s head in the crook of his arm and slit his throat with his right hand.
Gurgling warm blood sprayed onto his raincoat, pulled down by gravity.
“Gah... ack...”
The trafficker’s face was filled with terror, his body trembling uncontrollably.
Around him lay more than twenty similar corpses.
They were all ‘colleagues’ from within Meng City.
Yin Yang set the body down and let out a long breath.
He had barely slept in the last three days. Using the memories of Wang Zheng and Liu He, he had tracked down many colleagues still operating in Meng City.
He had finally gathered twenty-four bodies.
“Phew~ Meng City is truly a place of outstanding people and auspicious spirits. I actually found this many human traffickers; it’s almost on par with the lawless Wangduan City.”
Yin Yang waited for the blood to flow completely into the formation grooves before commanding the blade-wielding ghost to move the corpses.
Once all the bodies were arranged in a specific order, he took out several bottles of potion and poured them onto the blood in the grooves.
Glub, glub, glub—
The dark red blood instantly began to boil, and the stench of iron and gore filled the entire warehouse.
Yin Yang stood on the hand of the lantern-carrying ghost, which lifted him into the air. He watched silently as the blood boiled, churned, overflowed, and began to corrode the twenty-four corpses.
“Turning you into materials for my altar... I suppose that counts as putting waste to good use.”
